I hope a human will review this and overrule the robot. The user is not allowed to edit Wikipedia. Also, the template appears to be cutting off the last letter of the request. I found this process disappointing and confusing. I see zero advantage to all the formality here, why not just let people type in a normal way?--
Jimbo Wales (
talk) 17:36, 19 April 2011 (UTC)reply
We have some parserFunction magic that is supposed to repair the request when people don't replace the "CURRENT" and "NEW" with the desired name (they append the name after those words), but it seems to need some tweaking. Done renamed to "FDT". –
xenotalk 18:04, 19 April 2011 (UTC)reply
Well the bot isn't authoritative, it's just here to provide assistance to the bureaucrats. --
Chris 04:13, 20 April 2011 (UTC)reply
Also, there's nothing really formal about the process. It's formatted this way so each entry is easy to read and so we can quickly handle requests without trying to decipher some cryptic request which doesn't provide the information we need. I think it's pretty good that the request was completed within about 30 minutes of being posted here. Humans review ALL of the requests here; the bot clerk just runs a quick test to make sure someone who shouldn't isn't requesting a rename for someone else. ···

For any projects without local bureaucrats (i.e. those not at
m:RENAMELINKS), you can request rename at
m:SR/UC. –
