Done I have reverted the not done. The name is not considered offensive in India. There are many people in India who have their first names named after one of the various avatars of Vishnu. Nuclearwarfare, "-Raj" and "-Raja" have slightly different meanings and the surname Raj is not very common in India. More common would be the first name eg
Raj Thackeray.

In a way, I agree, and I probably wouldn't have picked that exact username if I'd been aware of the username policy when I first created my account. However, I don't think that "PCHS-NJROTC" could rightfully be considered promotional by policy considering that there are other respected users who associate their usernames with their high schools, and the names are almost never challenged except where the users deliberately vandalize in support of their admitted POV.

It is occasionally used as a surname in India, and I assure you it is not offensive. A user search for Ganesh returns almost a thousand hits. Shiva the same. Krishna gets many thousands. Other religions are the same. A search for Allah returns some actually offensive results, by the way. But if I am the exception, I will come up with something else.
Mikerbot (

{{

Comment - I can confirm that Raj is used as commonly as a last name in India as Christian or Jesus is used as a first name in the Western hemisphere. But, this seems a bit after the fact, so it is just incase you would reconsider. -
NuclearWarfarecontact meMy work 22:11, 10 December 2008 (UTC)reply
Done I have reverted the not done. The name is not considered offensive in India. There are many people in India who have their first names named after one of the various avatars of Vishnu. Nuclearwarfare, "-Raj" and "-Raja" have slightly different meanings and the surname Raj is not very common in India. More common would be the first name eg
Raj Thackeray.

Reason: Reason for requested renaming. This is the username I use, espicially among wikis, and it would also be easy for me to remember when I log in to any of them, and as for an alternative reason, I've really gone tired of a kooky username like "Ya Boi Krakerz".

Reason: Although not challenged by the community at large, someone at
Talk:Charlotte High School (Punta Gorda, Florida) challenged the way my username says "GO PCHS." In a way, I agree, and I probably wouldn't have picked that exact username if I'd been aware of the username policy when I first created my account. However, I don't think that "PCHS-NJROTC" could rightfully be considered promotional by policy considering that there are other respected users who associate their usernames with their high schools, and the names are almost never challenged except where the users deliberately vandalize in support of their admitted POV.
