Strong overlap in very narrow interests. Rsfinlayson was active from April 2016 onwards and since then, he was the main voice against proposals to introduce macrons to New Zealand English. In the great macron debate of 2018, Rsfinlayson made several dozen edits out of a total of just short of 200 editor contributions. His stance was so strong that The New Zealand Herald interviewed him (note that posting a link to this article is not outing, as though it uses his real name, he himself used his real name in his WP signature line). In January 2020, I posted an RfC to resolve New Zealand naming conventions and despite numerous pings, approaches via social media, etc, Rsfinlayson did not contribute to the debate. Everyone I've talked to thought this was very odd and out of line with previous editing behaviour. His last edit was four days prior to me posting the RfC.
That said, there is one account that displays the same obsession with macrons and related areas (e.g. dual naming conventions). Rangatira80 has been editing since May 2019 (i.e. there an overlap of the active editing period with Rsfinlayson). Rangatira80 was one of the few Kiwi editors who voted 'against' in the 2020 RfC and made five edits. The Interaction Timeline shows quite an overlap in interest and both accounts have the (obscure) kickboxer Israel Adesanya as their top edited article ( 45 edits by Rsfinlayson and 12 edits by Rangatira80).
There's one other account that I'm keeping an eye on but as yet, there isn't enough evidence to link it to this case. Schwede 66 23:55, 20 July 2020 (UTC) Schwede 66 23:55, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
