Suspected sockpuppets


According to the general stats of RadyoUkay819 and the general stats of LamChiong20 says that both accounts were created at the same day and same hour and just a few minutes after the other one was created. Both accounts did unsourced edits and I gave LamChiong20 two warnings (General note and caution) while I gave RadyoUkay819 one caution which is the second level warning since the user was doing a lot of unsourced edits so I want an investigation. As I said on the previous report, According to the general stats of RadyoUkay819 and the general stats of LamChiong20 says that both accounts were created at the same day and same hour and just a few minutes after the other one was created. Both accounts did unsourced edits and I gave LamChiong20 two warnings (General note and caution) while I gave RadyoUkay819 one caution which is the second level warning since the user was doing a lot of unsourced edits so I want an investigation. For Dxoc1494 and Wildfm985, I suspected that it is also a sock puppet of RadyoUkay819 since the four user pages have the same format as well.

NOTE: RadyoUkay819, Wildfm985, Lamchiong20 and Dxoc1494 has been blocked BUT THERE ARE TWO MORE ACCOUNTS THAT IT MIGHT BE A SOCK OF RADYOUKAY819 AS WELL THAT IS YET TO BE BLOCKED

So the four accounts are blocked UNTIL I saw two more socks, Healing2019 and CottonSwabs100. It's also the same thing that the first four blocked accounts, always on a minor edit mode. Same user page format and more.

That seems like enough to block on behavior among themselves. But I'm holding off for a moment because I agree there is also some evidence of other accounts' involvement (Jillian2006 and Mache2007 intersect at Miss Universe 2019 with the same name-pattern, and also Mikko101 ( talk + · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser( log) · investigate · cuwiki) also intersects with several. The account has made only 4 mainspace edits, but Special:Permalink/900221217 and Special:Permalink/919158549 do look awfully similar. Duck-like adding selves to same project as first edit after registration [4] [5], similar userpages created as second edit [6] [7], editing same articles generally. In this case, one starts editing less than an hour after the other creates.

Per WP:BEANS not saying why but the SPI staff will recognize Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/RadyoUkay819.

There may be others currently active, specifically one who appears to have lifted the contents of user sandbox, then the other finds and edits soon after [8]. Requesting CU for a sweep.

A few days after the latest known sock in this sockfarm is blocked (9/14 [19]), this account is created (9/19 [20]), and almost immediately starts editing the same article that the sockfarm is the #3 top editor on [21]. Additional similarities in username construction are apparent. A quick CU look-see is requested in light of prolific socking in this entire space (see Conflict of interest noticeboard). Reading the editor interaction carefully shows that these two accounts have been tag-teaming Miss Universe articles in a way that implies either meat- or sockpuppetry. Asking for CU since this area is wholly rife with sockfarms; see conflict of interest noticeboard for a run-down.

The tag-teaming is most plain in their articles that appear first in the editor interaction tool (sorted by min time between edits) as follows. The bulleted item is when they switched off, i.e. the first edit of a new account on a particular article. Full diffs are only listed for Miss Universe 2012 due to tedium; they can be followed in their entirety through the tool if necessary [22].

New account on their first edit [30] restores the identical changes to the same article last edited a few days ago [31] by a blocked account in the RU sockfarm, then their subsequent editing is another one where multiple RU socks have been blocked [32]. Naming convention, edit summary (not) habits, account name are all consistent with this sockfarm. And a striking preference for a particular fansite that this sockfarm has repeatedly introduced into beauty pageant articles [33].

Also note User:LexiLights in the DevilBlack69 sockfarm, which I believe is actually the same sockfarm as this one (I have requested a merge). ☆ Bri ( talk) 14:19, 26 September 2020 (UTC) reply

  • Bri - those accounts are stale - CU data isn't stored indefinitely, so accounts with no recent activity aren't picked up by the tool. I think it's quite likely that these are further socks, but I'm not going to block them unless they reactivate and we have some data to compare against. Per WP:BEANS not saying why but the SPI staff will recognize Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/RadyoUkay819.

There may be others currently active, specifically one who appears to have lifted the contents of user sandbox, then the other finds and edits soon after [8]. Requesting CU for a sweep.

A few days after the latest known sock in this sockfarm is blocked (9/14 [19]), this account is created (9/19 [20]), and almost immediately starts editing the same article that the sockfarm is the #3 top editor on [21]. Reading the editor interaction carefully shows that these two accounts have been tag-teaming Miss Universe articles in a way that implies either meat- or sockpuppetry. Asking for CU since this area is wholly rife with sockfarms; see conflict of interest noticeboard for a run-down.

The tag-teaming is most plain in their articles that appear first in the editor interaction tool (sorted by min time between edits) as follows. The bulleted item is when they switched off, i.e. the first edit of a new account on a particular article. Full diffs are only listed for Miss Universe 2012 due to tedium; they can be followed in their entirety through the tool if necessary [22].

New account on their first edit [30] restores the identical changes to the same article last edited a few days ago [31] by a blocked account in the RU sockfarm, then their subsequent editing is another one where multiple RU socks have been blocked [32]. Naming convention, edit summary (not) habits, account name are all consistent with this sockfarm. And a striking preference for a particular fansite that this sockfarm has repeatedly introduced into beauty pageant articles [33].

Also note User:LexiLights in the DevilBlack69 sockfarm, which I believe is actually the same sockfarm as this one (I have requested a merge). ☆ Bri ( talk) 14:19, 26 September 2020 (UTC) reply

  • Bri - those accounts are stale - CU data isn't stored indefinitely, so accounts with no recent activity aren't picked up by the tool. I think it's quite likely that these are further socks, but I'm not going to block them unless they reactivate and we have some data to compare against.
