Suspected sockpuppets

Evidence submitted by Juancarlos2004 (see note below)

(NB: I'm posting this on behalf of Juancarlos2004 - Juan has been involved with the dispute leading to this posting - please see here for the COIN entry - 2 ... says you, says me, suggestion box 19:26, 20 April 2009 (UTC)) reply

On 19 May 2008 User:Phi2012 created the Virginia Vallejo article. On that same date, User:Phi2012 made an edit to Pablo Escobar whose edit summary freely disclosed the user's connection to a marketing company which describes itself as "one of the nation's foremost authorities in all divisions of the marketing / media industry". User has consistently reverted almost any changes made to the Vallejo article.

On 14 November 2008 a number of edits and reverts made by User:Phi2012 were questioned on that article's talk page. On 5 December 2008 User:Virginia_Vallejo posted a response, claiming to be the subject herself. Neither user has attempted to further discuss the issues involved but an on-and-off edit war has continued for almost a year (see article history). (Originally posted by Juancarlos2004)

From what I could glean from edit histories, the usernames listed above are all single purpose accounts each making similar edits to only or nearly only the two aforementioned articles, indicating possible WP:SOCK and/or WP:MEAT violations. Please contact me if specific DIFF's are needed. - 2 ... says you, says me, suggestion box 19:26, 20 April 2009 (UTC) reply

  • Have you considered directing them to OTRS or asking for protection for the article? The accounts could probably be blocked for meat/sockpuppetry, but if this is a living person and her representatives that might not be the best route. Nathan T (formerly Avruch) 18:47, 22 April 2009 (UTC) reply
I agree with you on ORTS for Virginia_Vallejo ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), we need to verify she is who she says she is and attempt to get her biography right. As for the others, they all appear to be created solely for the purpose of editing these two articles contrary to sourcing policies. While we should help Ms. Valejo sort out her biography in accordance with WP:BLP, we also need to make it clear to this user that sock/meat puppetry to create the illusion of consensus or avoid scrutiny is unacceptable. - 2 ... says you, says me, suggestion box 02:28, 23 April 2009 (UTC) reply
Taking my own involvement in this dispute into account, I would nevertheless like to bring User:Danieloberstein's most recent edit into question, given the previous COI and sock-/meat-puppet concerns. I do believe Virginia Vallejo and/or her representatives have all the right in the world to look out for accuracy in her biographical article, but Wikipedia policies should be respected. This case has been marked as closed. It has been archived automatically.

Blocked all but Virginia_Vallejo. I left that account a message explaining what to do about the biography and the appropriate way to go about things. Please tag/archive (please do not tag Virginia_Vallejo as a sockmaster or sock at this time). Suggest that it is possible that this case be moved to Virginia_vallejo, but no real need to do so right now (if we don't have to have a case named after a living person lets avoid that and the issues around it). —— nix eagle email me 17:12, 28 April 2009 (UTC) reply

information Note: I blocked another sockpuppet, Juanchogomez ( talk · contribs), following a comparison of edits after an RfPP request. PeterSymonds ( talk) 08:57, 2 May 2009 (UTC) reply
