2 ( talk · contribs) (Until April 8 2009, I was known as Mr Senseless) - I've now been with the project almost a year and a half and I'd love to get some independent feedback on how I've been doing and where I can improve. I know my article editing experience is a little lacking although I have started and added significantly to a few in the past few months - my main area of focus however, has been article maintainence (little fixes), Articles for Deletion, CSD and new page patrolling and more recently I've also started helping out on third opinion. - 2 ... says you, says me 16:19, 13 April 2009 (UTC) reply

  • Hi 2! From what I can see, Your doing a great job with your AFD and CSDing. Your Contribs show that your doing just fine :-). Have you tried to rescue articles from AFD? I think you would do a great job in this. Anyways, Keep up the good work, It would be a shame to find out you have been blocked! - nz26 Talk | Contribs | Email 09:18, 14 April 2009 (UTC) reply
  • You are definitely knowledgeable; you are street wise to what goes around here. However, I notice that you tend to dive into things head on; you're not hesitant to be bold. That's a great quality, but be careful that you don't land yourself into a sticky situation you could have otherwise avoided. It's all right to take it slow at times. Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Primarily New page log patrol, WP:AFD, and small fixes in articles. I also add and initially start (I don't like the term author as no single Wikipedian has ownership over a particular article) to articles that interest me, usually articles on Upstate New York and Cape Cod (the two locales I'm most associated with), transportation, and opera although there have been others. I also cleanup articles coming through the New Pages log that need obvious fixes. Some major contributions have included: Raritan Valley Line, Cendrillon (Viardot), Engineering Announcements, Driver's license in the United States, Vehicle inspection, Alexander & Catalano, Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht, Federation Against Copyright Theft, The Time, The Place, TruTV.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
There are two that come to mind, both from my early days on the project. The first was this - I had no business making a sock puppet investigation request after only being at Wikipedia for a month, the moral of the story is that I should have asked another editor with more experience, and this is what I try to do today - if I'm not sure, get a second oppinion before taking action. Secondly, I was involved in a very nasty dispute at AFD, (to be open and transparent about everything, the AfD itself is here). I was dead-set on having this article deleted even after all my initial concerns were alleviated (why, I'm not sure - possibly due to being impassioned and wanting to make myself look good.) I learned from the issue that being right all the time is not the point of Wikipedia and there's no excuse for making inflammatory comments to prove a point, and understanding the importance of keeping a cool head and staying cooperative in heated discussions, since we're all here to improve a collaborative project. Both these issues taught me to always assume good faith, (especially concerning AFD and CSD), take a deep breath and count to ten when you're feeling angered or emotional, and NEVER make hasty or rash judgements.
