Similar users that I am opening up for a behavioral investigation: For a start, the users both chose usernames in other languages, and had signatures which simplified them. The current meta page for the named master claims association with the Russian Wikipedia, and he is at least familiar enough with the language to post there [1] and his ability to converse grammatically in Russian as evidenced by this conversation on his ru.wiki talk page [2].

The accounts both show an obsession with WikiProject tagging and correcting for regions within the United Kingdom:

Dysk: [3], [4]

Ilyina: [5], [6], [7], [8]

The third diff above in the Russian section is particularly important, because it follows Dysk's preference for regional WikiProjects within the United Kingdom and not typically dual-tagging for England/its counties. This is a trait that one would not expect of a new user. The importance of tagging and assessment to this user can be easily found by their creation of Wikipedia:WikiProject Cornwall/Article importance rankings. Comments like this also show a focus on WikiProjects, which matches Dysk's and would be something unlikely for a new user.

Their AfD comments are also somewhat similar. In particular this comment at an AfD matches their (deleted) comment here, where they discuss the current consensus on inclusion for NYT/BBC.

The user also users similar language used in edit summaries:

Dysk: [9], [10], [11], [12], [13]

Ilyina: [14], [15], [16], [17],

Finally, there is the overlap in chosen topic: Dysk focused on geographic locations, particularly those within the United Kingdom, as well as Cornwall and Devon as an even smaller sub-focus. The new user has not returned to Cornish topics, but has already start focusing on Devon and Dorset in their creations, but counties relatively close in proximity to Cornwall.

Dysk: Folly Gate, East Worlington, East Worlington

Ilyina: Monkokehampton, Revelstoke, Devon, Pathfinder Village, Gussage St. Andrew

Their creations as a whole are similar, but in particular of note are the creation of geographic lists in similar formats:

Dysk: List of Gardens in Cornwall, List of rivers in Cornwall, List of bus routes in Cornwall, List of islands of Cornwall

Ilyina: List of villages in Estonia and many of it's subordinate lists.

I am not requesting a CU on this as I doubt it would be useful. The user has revealed on their meta talk that they have their own MediaWiki install, so they are likely familiar with how CU works and how to cheat it. There are other behavioral similarities here as well, which I can go into if needed, but I'd prefer not to for BEANS reasons. TonyBallioni ( talk) 17:38, 31 January 2018 (UTC) reply

I've also added the self-declared socks above as a bullet for the record. None of them are currently being used. TonyBallioni ( talk) 17:44, 31 January 2018 (UTC) reply

IP 92 ( 92.31.142.60 ( talk · contribs)) has similar behavior to indeffed user A Den Jentyl Ettien Avel Dysklyver ( talk · contribs) and their globally banned sock Arthur Kerensa ( talk · contribs), and although having only a dozen lifetime edits at this IP, has knowledge of discussions about users indefinitely blocked five years ago with similar editing behavior to their own. IP 92 is currently range-blocked ( log) as a "range used by User:Vote (X) for Change".

Background and details

In the middle of a discussion with IP 92.31.142.60 on their UTP, after I recommended that they register for a free account, IP 92 made this odd observation at 16:34, 1 April 2022 ( diff):

Thank you. That is very helpful. However, before I take the action recommended please read User talk:Arthur Kerensa. In the light of what is discussed there would you change your advice in any way?

Checking that link, and User talk:Arthur Kerensa, I found AK to have been indeffed @16:43, Nov. 25 2017 (see block notice at top of User talk:Arthur Kerensa; no Diff available: page history only goes back to 28 Nov but no further), as a sock of User:A Den Jentyl Ettien Avel Dysklyver. (They are also globally banned by WMF Office; see ( log.)

  1. How does an IP editing in 2022 with a total history of a dozen edits even know about a 2017 block notice at a UTP?
  2. Similarities in positive attitude towards sanctions proposed against them, and facts that may lead to their being investigated or blocked:
    • In the November 2017 ANI proposal to indefinitely block them, Dysklyver said ( diff):

Support yes this is a good idea. Dysklyver 16:04, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

    • On their UTP, IP 92 volunteered their knowledge about Kerensa and their 2017 block (16:34, 1 April 2022; diff):

However, before I take the action recommended please read User talk:Arthur Kerensa. In the light of what is discussed there would you change your advice in any way?

    • On their UTP, IP 92 invited a sock investigation (13:08, 2 April 2022; diff):

Thanks for that. The correct venue for this discussion is obviously SPI. I have checked the cases opened since 5 PM last night. Nothing is listed.

I really didn't want to spend the time to compile this report, but the behavioral similarities, not to mention their—what? audacious? foolish? devil-may-care?—willingness or even eagerness to see themselves investigated or blocked seems to leave me no choice. As Beyond My Ken said in the 2017 ANI block discussion about Dysklyver, "WTF is going on when the subject endorses his own indef block?" I can only agree.
