Mavis Beacon minigame redirects

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix ( talk) 22:25, 12 September 2019 (UTC) reply

Mavis Beacon minigames aren't mentioned in the article. We could debate whether a simple listing of them would be acceptable or start to violate WP:NOTGAMEGUIDE, but if we've gotten by without a list this long, I think we probably don't need one. Any attempt to list them would be complicated by the fact that the list of games has presumably changed among the many different Mavis Beacon editions.

I checked all of these titles to see if there were alternate uses. I started to disambiguate Ride the Wave but found all of the uses were really trivial or not suitable for inclusion (i.e., advertising slogans). -- BDD ( talk) 19:26, 28 August 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Delete. All of these games, plus "Road Race", were removed from the article in 2005! I've browsed the history and been unable to find a more recent appearance of a games list. These redirects should have been deleted more than one-tenth of a century ago. Nyttend backup ( talk) 12:35, 29 August 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Delete: They have zero or near-zero page view stats. Unlike the esteemed nominator, I don't assume they are truly names of minigames. The result of the discussion was no consensus. Some of these were closer to a keep, some closer to a delete, but I didn't see clear consensus for action on any of them. -- BDD ( talk) 15:42, 17 September 2019 (UTC) reply

Created alongside Macedonianization and similar alternative phrasings, this particular one is just incorrect, and has no usage history and virtually no hits online. I also searched for this phrase's transliteration into Cyrillic and didn't find anything. signed, Rosguill talk 17:56, 9 August 2019 (UTC) reply

Added several analogous examples, none appear to have anything in the way of a usage history on Wikipedia. signed, Rosguill talk 22:15, 9 August 2019 (UTC) reply

We need to keep it. Its Cyrillic translation is: "македонство", and there are many hits on Google. In the English speaking realm it is used in the Australian and Canadian legal system (possibly some others too). GStojanov ( talk) 20:51, 9 August 2019 (UTC) reply

I'm not sure I follow this argument. We already have Macedonianisation, Macedonianization, Macedonisation, and Macedonization, as well as more verbose examples such as Emergence of Macedonian Slavic nationalism and North Macedonian nationalism. Why do we also need several unlikely and ungrammatical terms, particularly ones that are not in any way derived from the Macedonian language? I wasn't able to see anything about its use in other countries from Google search (nor do I really understand why such countries would need to use this term), and would appreciate sources establishing its usage. signed, Rosguill talk 22:10, 9 August 2019 (UTC) reply
Macedondom -> Englishness, Macedonization -> Englishization. There are two different terms signifying different things. GStojanov ( talk) 10:19, 10 August 2019 (UTC) reply
I think you missed the point of my argument. If I were translating Македонство to English, I would call it Macedonian nationalism or perhaps Macedonian national identity. "Macedonhood", "Macedondom" and the like, as far as I can tell, have never been used in English by a reliable source. signed, Rosguill talk 23:20, 19 August 2019 (UTC) reply

Macedondomмакедонство, romanized: makedonstvo (see: mk:Македонство)....similarly: Serbdomсрпство / srpstvo (see: sh:Srpstvo) -- SrpskiAnonimac ( talk) 21:08, 19 August 2019 (UTC) reply

The crux of my argument is that I have yet to see any evidence that "Macedondom" or for that matter "Serbdom" are actual words that are used in English. Neither Webster's nor the OED have entries for either of these terms, and internet search results return only some forum and blog results (and even then, only for a subset of the terms being discussed here). signed, Rosguill talk 23:06, 19 August 2019 (UTC) reply
All these terms have slightly different connotation. Some have positive connotation only (Macedondom, Macedonhood). Some have negative connotation only (Macedonistic). They are all used in Macedonian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Greek and Albanian language. They are all wrongly and simplistically translated in English mostly as Macedonian Nationalism, disregarding the connotation that these terms signify. I think we need to keep them all and we need to redirect them to Macedonians (ethnic group) GStojanov ( talk) 19:37, 20 August 2019 (UTC) reply
