- Comment: We've been closing MfD discussions about dead portals as "redirect to parent topic" for awhile, I think, so there will be more portalspace -> mainspace redirects out there if that's of any interest/concern to the nom. In terms of this set specifically, I don't really care one way or the other if they get deleted; redirecting in this case especially was basically an IAR solution because the portal was unused except by occasional POV vandals. ♠

That portal was just a vandal and POV magnet with no one but me watching it. Happy to burn down the whole useless thing including the redirects that came out of the last MfD. Agree with the Nom the redirects are misleading and further, someone can easy reverse them restoring the unwanted portal.

Delete. The Netherlands Antilles is now defunct, so current information on Hinduism in the Netherlands Antilles is impossible. There does not seem to be any historical information on Hinduism in the Netherlands Antilles anywhere on Wikipedia, so I don't see a suitable option for retargeting. --

Recommend delete. This has redirected to the Taxonomic rank meaning (see
Cohort (taxonomy) for years.
Plantdrew recently changed it to redirect to the
Cohort dab page to prevent links for non-taxonomic biological uses being added by mistake. However, there are no other biological related entries in the DAB, so I think that is not an ideal solution. Delete the redirect entirely.

- "Redirects are used to help people arrive more quickly at the page they want to read". Is it unlikely that anyone would be searching for Cohort (biology); that is an unnatural disambiguation used within WP to title different articles.
Generational cohort and
cohort studies are both listed
Cohort which might help someone find those articles if they searched on cohort. But this term is not useful.

- Delete I went through all the articles targetting this redirect a week or two ago and retargetted all article space links to other titles. While most incoming links intended the taxonomic rank, this redirect was attracting a significant number of links that intended
cohort study or
generational cohort.
Cohort (taxonomy) is a more precise term for the taxonomic rank. "Cohort (biology)" is not precise enough for the taxonomic rank. I also ran across
Cohort (group) targetting
Cohort (statistics) and retargetted that to the disambiguation page; (group) is hopelessly imprecise, it applies to all but one of the dab page entries. I don't see much point in generally retaining redirects from incomplete disambiguations; by nature, they are not natural search terms (bearing a parenthesized disambiguator).
Plantdrew (

reply
- Keep. As Rich Farmbrough and Plantdrew show, there are at least two other articles listed at the disambiguation page to which this could refer. We shouldn't assume that readers are unfamiliar with parenthetical disambiguation or that the parentheses make this an implausible search term. I can see a marginal benefit to keeping this and no risk of confusion or inaccuracy, so no benefit to deleting it. –

- Delete it is barely a valid word (there were many such Neelix constructions off adding double suffixes onto words). We don't need a redirect for every constructed word in English. Anyone searching this "word" is likely looking for a dic def or guidence on how to use the word which no target supplies.

Out of this batch of redirects, all of them except
Premeditate were created by
Neelix (see
WP:X1). They all originally targeted
Premeditation, now a redirect that targets
Malice aforethought. Over time, due to a few
WP:BLANKANDREDIRECTs that were performed and bots bypassing the redirects after such edits occurred, the redirect now target
Murder#Degrees of murder. (Please see the redirects' edit histories for further information.) At the least, all of the redirects in this discussion except
Premeditate and maybe
Prepense should probably be deleted per
WP:TNT due to
WP:X1's existence; the aforementioned two should probably be retargeted to
Malice aforethought.

- Retarget
premeditated, weak retarget
prepense, delete others. With all respect to the opinions above, we'd be better off deleting
premeditate and retaining
premeditated given the relative frequencies of the words (and hence their likelihood as search terms) as seen e.g. in Google Ngrams viewer
[1]
- "Premeditated" is a reasonably common word, whereas "premeditate" and the rest strike me as barely being words at all, at best
back-formations. Among all the "premeditat*" words, premeditated is far and away the most common, with the others being 1/30th or less as common (and less common even than "prepense")
- Prepense doesn't strike me as very useful given that it's just a
WP:PTM for
malice prepense which is already a redirect to
malice aforethought, but I don't feel strongly about it either way.
- The other prepens* forms are basically nonsense, archaic, or not used in this way. Ngrams Viewer has never heard of "prepenses" at all, and finds the rest in tiny fractions of a percent of "premeditated". "Prepensing" is used in ways that have nothing to do with premeditated murder, e.g. "a prepensing review", "prepensing for publication", etc.
