This Might Be A Wiki

really funny, but only linked at the end of the article (and cited 4 times, which i will provide no input on), and not mentioned otherwise cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 12:50, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Keep for now. As it stands, this is a correctly targeted redirect-- while it's a tiny amount of information, it IS still SOME information that we have regarding the redirect title. However, and this is such a big however that I'm going to put it in bold, I don't believe this piece of information should stay on the article. While tmbw.net boasts that the official They Might Be Giants site links to them (in multiple places), the current site... doesn't. And not only are there no citations for the inclusion of TMBW on the Wikipedia page, I also don't believe they're a reliable source; it's in the same ballpark as WP:FANDOM-- heck, TMBW's own About page mentions that Wikia (which later became Fandom) offered to host the wiki on their servers, and they declined because they... wanted more control than Wikia offered?
That said, at the end of the day, this is a discussion about the redirect, not the information being redirected to. And as it stands, the information is there-- so if someone wants to find it, this is where it is. 𝔏𝔲𝔫𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔫🌙🌙🌙 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔐𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔫𝔦𝔢𝔰𝔱 ( talk) 03:33, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Port Royal, Richmond County, Nova Scotia

It is not clear why this redirects here. "Port Royal" itself is ambiguous, and there's no mention of "Port Royal" in the article. Shhhnotsoloud ( talk) 19:38, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Saint John Rivers

Delete because it's nonsense, as pointed out by in this summary] by User:Masato.harada Enyavar ( talk) 18:18, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Delete The name of the Jane Eyre character is St John Rivers. Even if the redirect page's name were corrected, there is no reason for its existence compared with dozens of other characters of equal importance in the novel. Masato.harada ( talk) 18:57, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply
admittedly uninformed, but i'd say weak keep as a plausible-ish spelling, as is the case with " john saint john" redirecting to the "proper" name. on another note, is there some weird technical reason the nomination was improperly formatted? cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 19:09, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply
Keep per Cogsan. I don't see how this is implausible at all, especially if one heard it aurally. - Presidentman talk · contribs ( Talkback) 23:46, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply
Please note that I came across it when searching for the various Saint John Rivers, and that disambiguation page already lists the character but also provides links to the more likely meanings. If we keep it, change the target to the disamb page. (And if you want properly formatted nominations, I suggest streamlining this byzantine nomination procedure.) -- Enyavar ( talk) 05:27, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply
Re "if heard aurally": the name St John is pronounced Sinjen, not Saint John, so there should be no confusion. Masato.harada ( talk) 08:00, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply
See, the problem is that is assuming the reader would know that's the correct pronunciation. I personally would assume it would be "Saint John" being from the U.S. Presidentman talk · contribs ( Talkback) 00:27, 11 July 2024 (UTC) reply
Retarget to Saint John River per Enyavar. The character is listed there, and it's a plausible search term. Tevildo ( talk) 17:57, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Super Nintend

implausible misspelling, search function will complete it anywa cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 17:29, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Delete WP:RDEL #8. Extremely obscure from my searches, only finding apparent typos. Ca talk to me! 15:02, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Keep per WP:RTYPO, as it only has one error. I do not find it implausible, especially given WhisperToMe's compelling statement. If this has occurred on official material, it may be a redirect with possibilities (i.e we may cover it somewhere or someday). —  Godsy ( TALK CONT) 17:15, 10 July 2024 (UTC) reply
While I see some typos as plausible I don’t see missing the O in Nintendo as likely it’s not something like a silent letter or unusual combination of letters where a typo would be more expected. Also I don’t believe the existence of a pirate cart that hasn’t appeared to be covered anywhere on Wikipedia for the 12 year period that this redirect existed as compelling whatsoever. Finally, while I may be wrong, I see keeping this because we may at a later date cover the pirate cart to be a WP:CRYSTAL issue-- 67.70.101.117 ( talk) 16:14, 11 July 2024 (UTC) reply

used in other places as well, though the title case might imply something more specific. retarget to your mileage may vary (which is itself a soft redirect to wiktionary), or leave as is? cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 16:25, 9 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Karen (Pokémon)

The character is not mentioned in the target article, rendering the redirect pointless. ZFT ( talk) 04:37, 17 July 2024 (UTC) reply

  • Comment While I'm not really that knowledgeable about pokemon myself, Bulbapedia says Karen is one of the Elite Four in Kanto and Johto for multiple of the games. I note that other Elite Four characters are included in the list for some, but not all regions. It seems like it would be consistent to add her (and the others of the four?) to the list, which would then warrant keeping this redirect... but I'm not really sure what the list inclusion criteria for this list are or should be. Fieari ( talk) 07:21, 17 July 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Comment - Karen's lack of notability in Pokémon is a bit of a Wikipedia joke. She's an example at WP:Pokémon test (which even has the shortcut WP:KAREN), and was an april fools joke in 2022 based on that. BugGhost 🦗👻 07:24, 17 July 2024 (UTC) reply
Interesting. I definitely wouldn't give her a standalone article... but I do wonder about list inclusion. It seems plausible that she has enough significance for that... but has there been any consensus on that? Any specific list inclusion criteria set? Fieari ( talk) 07:39, 17 July 2024 (UTC) reply
  • Delete Unless some sort of evidence of her notability comes to light that allows her to sensibly be added to the list. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ ( ) 09:56, 17 July 2024 (UTC) reply

Facebook, Inc. v. Amalgamated Bank

While the Cambridge Analytica affair may be related to the case (and the current target should probably be linked in a future article at the redirect), the target article makes no mention of the SCOTUS lawsuit named in the redirect. I don't think someone would search for the lawsuit looking for information on the scandal, and so I believe this is a good candidate to return to red in hopes someone will create an article for the case. Magik (film)

Situation I haven't run into here: This was a BLAR to an article that does not currently mention the subject, but restoring the article would go against WP:NFF, which means there isn't a snowball's chance in Hell that the article would survive AfD. I think the best approach is restore article but draftify, which is the better way to incubate something in development hell anyways. (Normally I wouldn't take something to RfD just to !vote restore, since anyone can do that, but if I were to unilaterally restore and draftify I feel like that would be backdoor deletion of the redirect.) -- Tamzin[ cetacean needed ( they|xe) 00:56, 17 July 2024 (UTC) reply
