The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the miscellaneous page below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the page's talk page or in a
deletion review). No further edits should be made to this page.
The result of the debate was Keep. There is clear consensus supporting the existence of this user page in its current form. Policy backs up this stance (as highlighted by Jonny MT, users are
permitted a user page in order to help "other editors understand with whom they are working..."), as does the fact that the alternative stance of deleting this user page could potentially be interpreted as
biting the newbies.

Only edits were to user page, which is biography of the user, which is unencyclopedic.

Keep You MfD'd his userpage 18 minutes after the user created it? Seems a bit
bitey. Maybe discuss it with him first via {{uw-userpage}}? Unless I missed something, let the user feel things out first or at least show some hint of ulterior motives. --12 Noon 08:07, 12 December 2007 (UTC)reply
I didn't realize that he had just created it (I'm new to MfD, should check that in the future). However, you'll notice that after I notified him of this MfD he made an edit to his userpage, changing none the content, and didn't make any visible attempt to contact me or any other editor. In particular,
this recent edit seems to indicate to myself that he only intends to use the account for
soapboxing.

Keep Second
12 Noon on the quickness of the nomination, but I'd also like to add that it doesn't seem like a biography so much as a free-verse poem complete with a handful of rhymes. In any case, limited biographical information is allowed per
WP:UP as a way of "helping other editors to understand with whom they are working". The current version does no harm, and if the editor decides to branch out (which they may very well do, seeing as how they
registered only an hour and ten minutes before their page was nominated for deletion) it will certainly give others an idea of whom they are working with. --

Blank and inform the user about
WP:USER, though I'm worried about whether this user will actually contribute based on his/her username. --

Agree with the username comment, as it would cause me to watchlist their userpage if I was patrolling new user login, but it is too big of an assumption on our part so early in his existence.--12 Noon 18:28, 12 December 2007 (UTC)reply
Well, the nonsense he posted on his user page after the MFD tag was added is now making me even more suspect. --

Agree, he's not helping himself, that's for sure.--12 Noon2¢ 22:59, 12 December 2007 (UTC)reply
Keep per
WP:BITE and my reasoning in the essay
Wikipedia:Editors matter. An appropriate response in such cases is to talk to the user and explain what Wikipedia is about. MfDing their userpage is overkill, and will achieve nothing productive except driving the user away. Keeping a page like this around for a while will do no harm to Wikipedia, whereas deleting it may harm the encyclopedia by driving away a potential contributor.

Keep there's a format issue which causes the text to go off the screen, and you have to scroll to see it all, but that's not a reason to delete. Let's give the user a chance.

Keep trying to get a userpage deleted just after they write it is a violation of
WP:BITE. Hut 8.5 12:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)reply
Tentative Keep per the concerns with
WP:BITE. However, I notice that the user's contributions are only to their userpage.

WP:BITE -
Master of Puppets has been advised against nominating a user page for deletion so soon after creation on a number of user talk pages and has indicated that he will refrain from doing this in the future. See the thread on his page
