User:Akanemoto

I've been tracking this guy for a while. His contribs are almost exclusively to his userspace, and he has about 100 user subpages, including one he created just today. Enough is enough. Wikipedia is not a free webhost. If anyone here reads Japanese, it might help elucidate what is in those pages. Yechiel Man 00:04, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply

To find a list of his subpages, go to Special:Newpages, then set Namespace = User, and Username = Akanemoto. User:MER-C knows a better way of doing it, but that will work. Subpages are part of this discussion. Yechiel Man 00:08, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply

Special:Prefixindex lists 68 subpages. – Pomte 02:22, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete all, save the user talk and maybe the main user page. Beyond that, from what I can see, this is no more than somebody using the userspace as a blog host.-- Fyre2387 ( talkcontribs) 02:55, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Just a comment I must have deleted and restored various versions of this guy's subpages at least 7 times. I don't mind - it takes me about 5 seconds to do - but the focus on userspace is rather weird. Delete all per WP != free web host/MySpace substitute. – Riana 03:44, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply
    • As a side point, at least one admin has advised me not to bother listing user pages for deletion. I'm still figuring out the right balance of criteria for deletion in practice. I sometimes patrol new user pages with the goal of welcoming new users who identify themselves as such; spotting vandals who might put inappropriate material on their userpage; and catching spammers and hitchhikers who use Wikipedia as a free webhost. I find about one blatant spam article (CSD G11) per hundred new user pages, and another couple of WP:NOT pages about some local band or club. The outright spam is my biggest concern, but I also feel that there's a "slippery slope" principle if anything goes on user pages, and that it's important to maintain the focus of the project on its primary mission. With all that, not too many people care about such things, and I'm fine with that. Yechiel Man 04:53, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply
      • I'm sorry, I should have made myself clearer! I have deleted and restored various versions of this guy's subpages upon his request. Absolutely not disputing your nomination - I personally would only delete blatant spam/attack userpages without notifying the user. Sorry about the confusion. – Riana 04:59, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply
  • Delete all - Wikipedia != free web host. You should also check the upload log of the user in question or their contributions in the image namespace, as you will occasionally find vanity pics like this one, which should also be deleted. MER-C 09:00, 17 May 2007 (UTC) reply
