Portal India featured-content fork

Urshyam has gone and forked the whole featured-content process, primarily through copying and pasting, into the Portal:India domain. This is *utterly* unacceptable. Featured articles are chosen only through the featured article process of vetting done at wikipedia:featured article candidates. Ditto for featured pictures and lists. This is an attempt to end-run around the system (and furthermore, serves only to encourage others from doing the same). Also, if left to exist, this would basically result in a balkanization of the featured processes. Raul654 09:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC) reply

This a mass-nomination of the dozens of pages he created in the process.

  • Delete the featured article process is the accepted manner for all articles in this wikipedia to go through and this appears to be an out of process.-- MONGO 09:34, 25 February 2006 (UTC) reply
  • Delete all. Don't fork processes, please. It's ok to feature an article on the main page of the portal, but don't try to establish a whole process for this. It's just crazy. If one must fork an existing process for the portal, then fork Wikipedia:Tomorrow's featured article, which can be used to decide which article to feature on the portal page. • Delete all. Process forking is bad, especially when the existing process works. — Kirill Lokshin 15:53, 25 February 2006 (UTC) reply
  • Delete all. But, I'm almost sure that Urshyam did not mean to fork the process, but was merely trying to produce a copy of these pages for the India portal (which is nevertheless unnecessary). AFIK, he was merely redesigning the portal and was not involved in bringing up a new policy or process. I'll talk to him later in the day. (Thanks Raul for alerting me about this.) -- Sundar \ talk \ contribs 06:11, 27 February 2006 (UTC) reply
    • Update:I now realise that he did mean to create a superset of featured article related to India, which is outright unacceptable. Since the queue that he intends to build is for featuring in the India portal, I'll ask him to rename it to something else. -- Sundar \ talk \ contribs 06:30, 27 February 2006 (UTC) reply
  • Rename is all that's needed, and Urshyam does seem to have agreed to that - see Portal_talk:India_Featured_articles. I had listed {{ Indian featured article}} on TfD before I saw this listing here and certainly think that should be deleted though. Worldtraveller 00:06, 28 February 2006 (UTC) reply
