Can someone please alter the above files containing the COA of the Diocese of Lichfield, so that they match the colours of the official version of the Arms recorded by the British
College of Arms and seen
here (the difference being that the right half of the large cross should be gold, as should the two smaller crosses on the right side). A version of the flag with the correct Arms can also be viewed
here. Thanks.

Just as an added comment, it
appears (see also images under search engine query "college of arms Diocese of Lichfield") that the current version is more commonly seen, although the version with gold is technically official.

HapHaxion: Thanks for bringing it up. Perhaps it would be prudent to modify the currently existing files so that they match the official version, while creating new separate Files for the two alternate versions on the Heraldry Wiki?

Eclipse vs new/full moon visualisations
Comparison of a lunar or solar eclipse with a full or new moon, showing how the moon's 5° orbital inclination means eclipses happen only about every six months rather than every two weeks (1757 publication by
James Ferguson)
1810
Encyclopaedia Britannica comparison of a lunar or solar eclipse with a full or new moon, showing how the moon's 5° orbital inclination means eclipses happen only about every six months rather than every two weeks
Requesting the creation of svg images to illustrate (a) the difference between a
full moon and a
lunar eclipse; and (b) the difference between a
new moon and a
solar eclipse.
To communicate clearly why an eclipse doesn't occur with every full/new moon cycle, our articles need a 3D diagram. Many versions of such a diagram exist on other websites (listed above), but unfortunately none are freely licenced.
The diagrams would take pride of place on
lunar eclipse and
solar eclipse, both of which get approximately 1,000,000 views per year, as well as
full moon and
new moon which get about 500,000 annual views combined. --

I've started to work on this :) I'm taking a similar one-point perspective approach to the modern examples provided. Lilbitmessytalk 00:41, 2 December 2022 (UTC)reply
Thank you

Hi
Lilbitmessy thank you so much! It looks really great.
I have added in some more text to the labels to help make it as self-explanatory [self ex-planet-ary?!] as possible. I don't have the same graphics skills as you though so I hope I haven't made it ugly in the process.
Onceinawhile (
talk) 00:27, 3 December 2022 (UTC)reply
Also I have now added the image to the relevant articles.
Onceinawhile (
talk) 01:24, 3 December 2022 (UTC)reply
Hi, so I get what you were trying to do with the extra text, but in general extra textual information clutters a diagram and should really be put in a caption. The graphic is already designed to clearly illustrate the concept and adding explanation of jargon doesn't necessarily help with the visual explanation of the mechanism. I'm happy to change about some of the labels but would recommend that in the future you first ask the author of a graphic to make amendments. Lilbitmessytalk 10:26, 3 December 2022 (UTC)reply
Hi Lilbitmessy, I thought I was helping and saving time by doing it this way, but I see now that I should have asked first. How would you feel about having two versions, one with the detailed annotations and one without?

PawełMM: Great job, and thanks for doing this! Although just one or two things... perhaps you could alter the shade of blue so that it matches the shade shown in
this photo here of the flag room at Exeter Cathedral (the one at the bottom right of the cluster of flags). And maybe alter the flag ratio so that it becomes 3:5 (in line with most other Church of England related flags), and enlarge the shield a bit? So sorry about this, and thanks again for your help.
