File:Twelve O'clock High Gregory Peck.jpg ( delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Beyond My Ken ( notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

The screenshot is used in the plot section of Twelve O'Clock High against WP:FILMNFI in that the plot section describes the film and is not critical commentary of the image itself. The fair use rationale states its purpose is "The image is being used to illustrate an article about the film depicted in the image." The image fails WP:NFCC#3a since the poster already illustrates the article and there is no critical commentary of the image itself in the article, it does nothing to increase the reader's understanding of the film and its exclusion is not detrimental to the understanding of the film, thereby failing WP:NFCC#8. Aspects ( talk) 23:50, 9 September 2021 (UTC) reply

  • The image is not a screenshot, it is a publicity shot with no indication of copyright. It illustrates Gregory Peck as the character he plays in the film, which is inherently illustrative of the film. Images do not have to be connected to the section in which they appear, but to the article as a whole. Yet another example of Aspects personal crusade to eliminate as many images as possible from Wikipedia, and minimize as small as possible those he allows to remain. These edits are detrimental to the usefulness of the encyclopedia. Beyond My Ken ( talk) 20:57, 10 September 2021 (UTC) reply
You uploaded the file thirteen years ago with the licensing stating that the file is a screenshot, so it seems convenient that when someone holds it to that standard, you claim the fair use rationale is incorrect, which if true you could have fixed it for years and the rationale still states it is a screenshot after this comment. Fair use files do have to be connected to the sections they are used in and need to have critical commentary for them to pass WP:NFCC. In all of these files for discussion that I have brought about files you have uploaded, you have never once addressed the critical commentary that is necessary for these screenshots to pass WP:NFCC, which is why the discussions have been closed as delete. In the future, I would advise you to not discuss other editors' actions in files for discussion and my edits are not "detrimental to the usefulness of the encyclopedia" since the the screenshots lack critical commentary to pass WP:NFCC and nothing in this comment shows how the file passes WP:NFCC#3a or WP:NFCC#8. The screenshot is used in the Cast section of A Matter of Life and Death (film). The fair use rationale states its purpose is "The image is being used to illustrate an article about the film depicted in the image." • The image shows major characters as they appear in the film, which is inherently illustrative of the film. The rationale clearly spells out the usefulness of the image to the film, and it is not duplicate of the poster. Yet another example of Aspects' personal crusade to eliminate as many images as possible from Wikipedia, and minimize as small as possible those he allows to remain. These edits are detrimental to the usefulness of the encyclopedia. Beyond My Ken ( talk) 21:00, 10 September 2021 (UTC) reply
Readers do not need to see the cast of a film in character or in relationship to each other to understand the film. If so, every film would have a screenshot. I quoted what the fair use rationale states so there is nothing that "clearly spells out the usefulness of the image in the film". I never stated that the screenshot was a duplicate for the poster, but that if the screenshot it illustrating the film, that the poster already does that, thereby failing WP:NFCC. In all of these files for discussion that I have brought about files you have uploaded, you have never once addressed the critical commentary that is necessary for these screenshots to pass WP:NFCC, which is why the discussions have been closed as delete. User:Whpq, I apologise for not adding commentary before, it is mentioned throughout the article.
