The use of this image fails WP:NFCC#8, the picture does not add significantly increase readers' understanding of the crime, and its omission would not be detrimental to that understanding, there is no reference to it in the article at all. It also fails WP:NFC#UUI as this person is still alive and his notability does not rest on his visual appearance. LGA  talk edits 08:42, 5 September 2013 (UTC) reply

  • Weak keep. The article does not mention the mugshot specifically, but it certainly mentions Fritzl and his arrest. The fact that he is alive is not important for replaceability concerns, since he is serving life in prison and is never going to leave prison or be available for photographs. The only valid argument for deletion that I could see would be that seeing the perpetrator is not necessary to fully understand the crime... I'm sympathetic to that view, but on the whole I have to disagree. We tend to keep such photos in most cases, holding that a photo of Pekka-Eric Auvinen is justified in the Jokela school shooting article, for instance, or that a photo of Tyler James Peterson is justified in the Crandon, Wisconsin shooting article, etc. Surely all these cases rest on the same justification. – Quadell ( talk) 18:25, 29 October 2013 (UTC) reply
  • Weak delete per NFCC#8. The image's omission would not be detrimental to understanding the Fritzl case. There may be valid justification for use within Josef Fritzl if that were split out, although in such a case there should be discussion of the individual merits of a selection of photos (assuming others exist). -- Trevj ( talk) 13:48, 2 December 2013 (UTC) reply
  • Keep - Actually, removing it for the sake of removing it is not the answer. I can fully recognize this person in mugshot. Since there is no separate article about Josef Fritzl, perhaps the image must be kept for the sake of helping readers be familiar with people. Even in jail, the use of the photo doesn't violate NFCC#1; there are no existing free images at this time, and no photo will be released as free. George Ho ( talk) 04:13, 21 December 2013 (UTC) reply
  • Delete the article is about the case, and not about Fritzl. And how Fritzl looks like was not relevant for the Fritzl case. Fails NFCC#8. -- damiens.rf 10:04, 17 January 2014 (UTC) reply

NFCC violation. The file is redundant, as the wikipedia page on which it was being used already features a non-free image of the purported deceased subject. Additionally, the file's authenticity cannot be confirmed. It is described as a screenshot of a public execution, supposedly taken from “a medium length amateur video” shot at the height of an insurgency. Besides this scenario being unlikely, the file is of very low resolution and is distorted to the point where it's difficult to tell what the actual subject is. A reverse image search likewise shows that the screenshot(?) only appears on a few blogs, forums and social networking websites, so its authenticity in this regard cannot be verified either (c.f. [1]). As such, the file is not an example of an iconic war image that has received attention in its own right. The indicated source of the image is in fact one asiantown [2], a blog network.
