There is absolutely no way to determine whether or not this image might be copyrighted from the accompanying description. The fact that it is allegedly widely used does not alter that fact. I think it unlikely that the title banner exists on an old painting etc and since the booklet was produced in 1988, it is reasonable to suppose that we need permission for use.

It is also not used in an article concerning the booklet from which it has been scanned, which is a requirement of the license that is given. Sitush ( talk) 09:05, 25 May 2012 (UTC) reply

• Keep. The last point was easily resolved by removing the standard template {{ Non-free book cover}}, which was not needed as a detailed fair use justification was already provided.

It is clear enough from the uploader's description "if this image is copyrighted, which is not clearly known" that his copy of the original publication did not assert copyright.

As for what is "reasonable to suppose", it is also "reasonable to suppose" that the creator of the work would be delighted to have the image disseminated to a wider audience, including his banner above the mural (otherwise copyright would have been asserted). – Fayenatic London (talk) 12:38, 25 May 2012 (UTC) reply

• Delete According to the article, "Devasahayam Pillai was an 18th century convert from Hinduism to Christianity in the southern part of India." The 18th century was a long time ago, so there ought to be PD-old images of him. Besides, the image currently doesn't have any licence.   • Try a Google search; if there was another such image, at least one of the religious websites would have used it, but they all use versions of the same painting. WP:NFC#UUI only applies to copyrighted material; this is from a religious booklet that does not assert copyright.     • Google only finds images available on the Internet, but books have been printed for centuries. Try this instead: check the books at Devasahayam Pillai#References and Devasahayam Pillai#Further reading, and then check the sources listed in those books, and so on. Wouldn't this at some point lead you to some old image of him? All images have to have a licence statement. This file has several issues:

• vBulletin appears to be unfree. Are there any components of the software in this file which might be copyrightable components of vBulletin?
• Claimed to be uploaded by the owner of the forum, but I guess that it might be a good idea to get OTRS permission for the other stuff on the screenshot.
• Might this fail WP:NPOV or any applicable policy? The other images in the article Internet forum show somewhat default installations of forum software with test edits and the like, but this picture shows a real forum.
