- Good question. Some top-of-mind possibilities: they thought that "in India" was a too narrow or a redundant naming, or they didn't check the category's existence at all. In either case a redirect wouldn't have helped. Marcocapelle ( talk) 16:50, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- Merge - just not necessary given the other cat exists. This creation is one of many examples of what happens every year when Dalit History Month takes place and a horde of newbies turn up to right great wrongs. To answer Nyttend's query, the answer is simply that it is a newbie mistake. - Propose renaming Category:Kildare to Category:Kildare (town)
- Nominator's rationale: to remove the ambiguity. People in Ireland don't often use the prefix "county" when referring to a county ... so "I'm from Kildare" could mean either County Kildare or the town of Kildare.
- This follows the long-standing precedents of Category:County Sligo/ Category:Sligo (town) (see 2011 CFD), Category:County Dublin/ Category:Dublin (city) (see 2011 CFD), Category:County Kilkenny/ Category:Kilkenny (city) (see 2011 CFD)
