Deleted via AfD and contested. While I remember it being broadcast as a paid program in Canada in the 80s, I cannot find any independent sources for it. It therefore fails
WP:GNG.

Keep. The Globe and Mail,
[1] the National Post[2] and The Hamilton Spectator[3] support the claim that it is Canada's longest-running daily talk show. The Toronto Star says it's the longest-running religious daily show,
[4] but its obituary of the founder prominently mentions the show in the heading: "David Mainse, founder and host of 100 Huntley Street, dies at 81". There is also a claim that it is the 6th longest-running daily television show in the world by Faith in Canada 150, apparently run by
Cardus.
[5] I haven't found confirmation of that record yet, but the other record is pretty notable, IMO. Also, Broadview magazine does have an article about the show:
"The real story of 100 Huntley Street".

I'm not Canadian, or an expert in the matter, but as someone who successfully
WP:PRODded this before it was
WP:REFUNDed, I would say we should wait a bit before nominating this for deletion.
pburka requested a refund, but has not made edits (and possibly has not had time to make edits) to the article yet. —

Keep Per Clarityfiend. Yet another topic where the state of the article is poorer than it should be. I agree
WP:BEFORE should especially apply to previously deleted articles, per AFreshStart's commentary.

I did do BEFORE and found nothing. Obviously not the news side. With that said, the Globe & Mail, National Post and Toronto Star articles are about David Mainse's death, not the program; it only gets a passing mention in each. The Hamilton Spectator piece is about Crossroads Centre, the broadcast and ministry centre, not the program; again, only passing mention. faithincanada150.ca is a database entry and is immaterial. Only the broadview.org story is about the program.
Walter Görlitz (

"Only a passing mention"? The Globe and Mail article has at least four paragraphs about the show. The National Post said "The show would span decades and become a fixture on the dial for Canadians, whether they were seeking out the good word or simply flipping channels." All three obituaries feature 100 Huntley Street in their headings, not something you'd do for an obscure show.
Clarityfiend (

Yes, passing mention. The article is about Mainse, not the program.
Walter Görlitz (
talk) 21:52, 28 December 2021 (UTC)reply
That's not what "passing mention" means. In fact,
WP:SIGCOV even says "it does not need to be the main topic of the source material."
pburka (

I stand by my claim and my nomination. In short, what details can be gleaned about the program from the passing mentions?
Walter Görlitz (
talk) 23:24, 28 December 2021 (UTC)reply
Read the Globe and Mail article. There's lots of details there. Clarityfiend's First Rule of Television Show Notability: If it airs nationwide for decades, it's notable.

What the heck is a "paid program"?
Clarityfiend (
talk) 01:49, 29 December 2021 (UTC)reply
Comment. A program that aired nationally on major networks for decades would never be an uncontroversial deletion and the page never should have been PRODded. And even if it's determined to be nonnotable on its own there are obvious alternatives to deletion.
pburka (
talk) 01:06, 29 December 2021 (UTC)reply
We are not talking about Friends or The Simpsons. This was a paid program. It was not broadcast because stations paid them for the opportunity to air it; Crossroads Communications had to pay to have it aired. Please stop misconstruing the facts. Aside from Mainse's obituary, it is not discussed.
Walter Görlitz (
talk) 08:34, 29 December 2021 (UTC)reply
The fact is this proposed deletion is controversial. You shouldn't have used PROD. (And you should withdraw your misleading claim in the nomination that this page was previously deleted via AfD.)

Keep. Long running national program, and per sources brought up by
Clarityfiend.

Keep. With such a long-running show, you should also conduct searches for material that is offline or behind paywalls. In particular, a Proquest search yields numerous hits to articles specifically about this subject. (I cannot access any of the articles, so cannot offer opinions about their coverage.) Some examples:
That's just from the first two pages of results for a search of "100 Huntley Street" at
Proquest.
