Ways to improve John Fletcher Dixon-Stewart

Hello, Thiswillbebrief,

Thank you for creating John Fletcher Dixon-Stewart.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The article needs to make a claim this person was notable "because." Was his amateur archeology work notable? Good work on finding genealogical resources but they won't be enough for this article to be accepted.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|HouseOfChange}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hi, I accepted this article with the belief that you would improve it to establish notability. I have looked at online sources and found nothing to support his notability as WP:GNG or as a scholar WP:ACADEMIC. The genealogical sources establish that he lived and died and was related to famous people, but none of these create notability. I regret that I will be obliged to propose deletion unless you have more to add to the article. HouseOfChange ( talk) 12:40, 5 September 2020 (UTC) reply

Improperly licensed images

Hi I see you have tried different images for the Winchester College Crest. However they all seem to be the copyright of Winchester College itself so we are in breach of copyright law in using them. You cannot evade the law by waiting a few days and hoping nobody notices. The coloured image is up for deletion as improperly licensed. I think the monochrome one should be too. Could you please put the original one back. Wikipedia takes copyright law extremely seriously. You can be blocked permanently from editing if you do this again, so I urge you to be a lot more careful if you want your editing career to continue. It's worth pointing out the fair use provision, which does allow for the use of logos; Wikipedia:Logos#Uploading non-free logos. I suppose the question is how low resolution the logo should be. Klbrain ( talk) 21:08, 16 September 2020 (UTC) reply

Dear ( User talk:Chiswick Chap), I have reverted to original logo. The one that I replaced it with has not been deleted so I assumed that it was no longer under question of deletion. I have since noticed the red box that warns that the image is still under question. One more thing, I wonder whether the current crest (the original that is copyright free) is too low quality? Thank you and apologies for the misunderstanding.

Thanks. We'd obviously like a high-quality image if one is available with a CC-by-SA license. Meanwhile, "beggars can't be choosers". Chiswick Chap ( talk) 19:42, 18 September 2020 (UTC) reply
