Welcome

Hello, Steventrilmore, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{ helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- Demiurge1000 ( talk) 14:02, 24 June 2011 (UTC) reply

June 2011

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. However, I noticed that your username (Steventrilmore) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because your username should not be the name of an identifiable living person unless you are that person. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. -- Demiurge1000 ( talk) 14:03, 24 June 2011 (UTC) reply

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Steventrilmore, and certain edits by this account show that it is being used by more than one person, something which we do not permit under any circumstances; and may also be being used to impersonate one or more people.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{ unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{ unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Allowing username change to requested username. OTRS has confirmed the identity. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Shirik ( Questions or Comments?) 19:38, 26 June 2011 (UTC) reply

This request does not address the reason you were blocked as stated in your block log. How many people have access to this account? Furthermore, we will need to ask you to confirm your identity to our OTRS team at info-en@wikimedia.org in order to prevent impersonation attempts. Hersfold ( t/ a/ c) 20:57, 24 June 2011 (UTC) reply
Just a non-admin note; the user states in their edit summary that the account is only used by one person. -- Demiurge1000 ( talk) 21:03, 24 June 2011 (UTC) reply

I am the only one with access to the account and will remain so. I'm happy to confirm my identity with the team, but I'm not sure how to do that? Do I need to change my email address to my official address or send some other form of verification? Forgive me, I tried to find how to do that and failed. Happy to comply however it needs to be done, I understand. And thank you guys for spending time on this, I really appreciate it!

Who is "I"? Steven Trilmore? Elisabeth Rohm? Who? We will need to ask you to confirm your identity (whatever it is) to our OTRS team at info-en@wikimedia.org in order to prevent impersonation attempts. -- Orange Mike | Talk 23:58, 24 June 2011 (UTC) reply

I am Elisabeth Röhm, guess I didn't explain that very well. How do I confirm my identity with the OTRS team? Would it be easier if I just created a new account and started all over? Will I not be able to do that due to the IP block? Thank you...

I guess I should have also said that I don't know how sending an email to that address verifies me - do I just need to send an email from the email address the account was created with?

Steventrilmore ( talk) 00:20, 25 June 2011 (UTC) reply

The team at the other end of that e-mail will lead you through the identity-confirmation process. Don't sweat it; just remember that they are volunteers and are not under a deadline. -- Orange Mike | Talk 01:42, 25 June 2011 (UTC) reply

Gotcha - will do - thank you so much for your help! Steventrilmore ( talk) 01:50, 25 June 2011 (UTC) reply

I suggest (my personal opinion) a name like "ElisabethRohm" or "Elisabeth Röhm" rather than "realelisabethrohm". (note: if you do choose a name that includes an umlaut or other special character you may want to create redirects from the "simpler" version (no umlaut) that uninitiated americans can type more easily :) ) Anyway, welcome to Wikipedia and you're invited to the Great American Wiknic tomorrow afternoon! -- Jeremyb ( talk) 04:31, 25 June 2011 (UTC) reply

Now that my identity has been confirmed, will I be un-blocked? And will my name change go into effect or do I need to request that again? I'm sorry you guys, I'm trying to come up to speed with the protocol here on wiki - I'll get there. Thank you for your continued help!

Steventrilmore ( talk) 19:42, 25 June 2011 (UTC) reply

I believe that since the OTRS staff confirmed your real-life identity (as a longtime fan of the show, welcome! THUNG-THUNG!) they will be the ones to unblock. Once it's through, go to this page and follow the instructions there. Be sure to make it clear this was cleared with OTRS. Daniel Case ( talk) 03:06, 26 June 2011 (UTC) reply

Unblocked

Hello. Thanks for working with us while we confirmed your identity. Please understand that we have these policies in place to protect you, and it's unfortunate the position you got placed in. You have been unblocked. Please be sure to head over to WP:CHU as soon as possible to get your name changed. Thanks, Shirik ( Questions or Comments?) 19:39, 26 June 2011 (UTC) reply

THank you so much for all of your help everyone - I seem to be on track now and hope to be a good editor/contributor (not only on my bio page) to wikipedia! And thank you Jeremyb for the advice on the name, I went with your suggestion - and thank you Daniel for being a fan of the show!!!

Stuff to do

I'd also like to welcome you to Wikipedia, Ms. Rohm. I thought you may like to take a look at WikiProject Equine, a group of editors dedicated to all things horse. There are several highly active editors there who may be happy to give advice and the project also has "to do" lists that may help you find things that interest you that also need doing. There are, of course, wikiprojects on many other topics (just picked equines since it's very active with experienced editors and, if we didn't screw up your bio too badly, you like riding). If you can't find something that catches your fancy, but would still like to find something to do here, let me know and I'll see if I can find something.
