Designations of soundtrack recordings and compilations

As I have pointed out, there are numerous times when 'various artists' and soundtracks are treated as proper nouns, especially when they are designating a collective. That is concurrent on multiple pages under 'Billboard #1 albums' as it either replaces or adds to the artist in that column. It functions as a proper noun to due to its designation, as it isn't being used in a sentence.

WolfSpear04 ( talk) 20:45, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

You've yet to "point out" anything concrete, you just keep making vague claims. Regardless, I already started a discussion about it here to get more input on the matter. Sergecross73 msg me 20:48, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Bizarre editor's repeated messages about me

Hi Serge. I've had an IP editor (whose IP geolocates to Taiwan) have some, I would say, obsession with me and my "punctuality" and act like I have a responsibility in updating charts the past few months. They have posted on my talk page numerous times, like earlier today, even proceeding to revert my removal of their message, then after I told them not to post on my talk page on theirs, attempt to change the message at the top of my talk page to say "I will answer questions" and even post on Wikipedia talk:Record charts about me, which I have reverted as this is a personal grievance about me and not the forum for it. They have previously posted at Wikipedia talk:Record charts, where they were told by Carbrera that any one user does not have a responsibility to do such a thing here.

This same IP editor (on a different IP) has previously edited my talk page archive twice ( in March then again in May), just like the user Tim96144 did here. The reason I bring the user Tim96144 up is that he edits charts on Wikipedia every single day, he has an interest in updating Billboard's charts every week, and he has previously said he lives in Taiwan as well. I think this IP editor who thinks I am obligated to update charts is Tim96144. Here the IP editor is earlier today editing a song article two minutes after Tim96144 had just edited it, and again on another song article a minute later (both edits are correcting things Tim96144 had just done). I previously asked Tim96144 to not send me messages while logged out on their talk page, but they denied it was them. Another reason to believe this is Tim96144 from Taiwan harassing me logged out is that they have also previously used Wikipedia talk:Record charts to complain about Billboard's own punctuality last month here and earlier in February here (calling them a "shameful company") when they delayed their charts. I also note the user BrandNew Jim Zhang subsequently told them then it was not a forum to post complaints.

I'm at a loss as to what to do to get them to stop, but this IP editor is very annoying and has too many parallels to Tim96144 for me to not believe it's them editing logged out so they have some plausible deniability. Ss 112 16:26, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Very weird behavior. Well, there's a few things. I can do the usual warn/block stuff. And/or I can protect your talk page for a short period if you want. If it persists for a while and I keep protecting it, some editors have set up a separate sub-talk page that isn't protected, for only IPs to use. You could largely ignore/not watchlist the alternate talk page, and just check here and there. Otherwise...beyond that, I'm not sure. You could just ignore him. It's not like any sane/knowledgeable editors really believes what they're saying, so it's not like its going to give you a bad reputation or something. Sergecross73 msg me 17:15, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
Believe me, I'm not worried about any sort of effect on my "reputation", it's more that I feel if I weren't an editor who updated charts, they wouldn't be annoying other forums with messages about me. I'm not so worried about protecting my talk page, because I feel even if I did ask you to, they'd just post on my talk page archive or on the record charts talk page to get around it again. If you believe it's Tim96144 from what I've said, then I'd appreciate if you could ask him not to do it again, even though I'm sure he'll deny it regardless. Maybe a note to the IP editor themselves might help too, even though it's a dynamic IP so they've probably already moved on. Obviously my words can't sway them. Ss 112 17:31, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
Whoever this is [1], they're genuinely unhinged. Ss 112 00:45, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Alright, that's enough of them. I gave them a stern final warning and I'm going to start blocking protecting liberally if there's any more disruption from them. Sergecross73 msg me 00:55, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

A strange editor

Hi! I found when I edit this article Anniversary (Tony! Toni! Toné! song), the user isento always asked me not to use Template:Col-2. Althought they talked in this, but I checked Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Album article style advice and Wikipedia:Advanced table formatting, They don't ask can't use Template col-start, col-2 and col-end forcibly, it just SUGGEST using. When I rollback, they even said this is "edit war", I don't know what's this, using Template:col-2 can make page saving space, I just think they are disruptive editing. Tim96144 ( talk) 04:57, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

This sure is a strange way of communicating, Timmy. isento ( talk) 05:38, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

( talk page stalker) @ Tim96144: That's not what disruptive editing is. You made a choice to use columns; Isento reverted it, obviously because he does not see the need for columns. A stylistic change is not something to engage in an edit war over, so you should stop. I'm jumping in here because I find it funny that Sergecross is the first administrator you decided to approach about this matter (when you're in the wrong here for reverting again after being reverted) when I mentioned you here last week (without tagging you, by the way), after you logged out and complained that I don't have Japanese people's punctuality and "warned" me to be timely about updating charts (and if I don't, what consequence will I face, exactly?) but then you found out I posted here and denied it was you. Otherwise, if the IP was not you as you say, why choose Sergecross out of all administrators on Wikipedia to approach with this admission of edit warring? Ss 112 05:41, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
Because I have edited many charts positions, but this time isento always asked me not to use columns, I think I'm not to do wrong things, in the past it's no problem, why does has problem today?? Tim96144 ( talk) 05:50, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
Sergecross73 is that I found unexpectedly, OK?? Tim96144 ( talk) 05:52, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Judging by this editor's incoherent responses, this might be an issue of competency. isento ( talk) 06:22, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Tim96144 - a few points:
  • This all seems pretty straightforward, so I'm not quite sure why there's an uproar here. Doing a column view is usually just done when there's a lot of text/data being dealt with, so it's generally seen as unnecessary in situations like this, where there were just a few charts present. It's a pretty simple content dispute, with little at stake, so you didn't really need to escalate it to an admin like myself. Either way, the data appears to be present and correct. Just talk it out on the talk page.
  • When someone accuses you of "edit warring", they mean this - WP:EDITWAR. You're not supposed to continually undo another persons edit over and over again. Technically, you were both guilty of edit warring, but in situations like this, more blame us generally put on the person who first proposed the initial change (in this case, you.) WP:BRD has more info on the concept.
  • I seriously hope you are not the IP who was harassing Ss112. That would be wildly inappropriate, as that IP's comments were disruptive and just plain wrong conceptually - no one has any right to complain someone isn't editing fast enough like that. I don't have enough evidence to block you for that, but I can certainly understand Ss112's suspicions. Sergecross73 msg me 15:56, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

Not a strange editor

I was viewing WP:Articles for deletion/Mr. Game & Watch and somebody mentioned that ScreenRant is now considered reliable. Is that true? Panini! 🥪 15:03, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Haha. Sorta. It happened outside of WP:VG - see here. It's not exactly a glowing endorsement - more like one of those "barely usable if you have to" type source. It's sister site, GameRant, is actively being evaluated at WT:VG/S, if you have interest chiming in there. (I've commented but haven't officially weighed in yet.) Sergecross73 msg me 15:55, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

I'll see if I can get around to my computer and leave some thoughts. Although this does interest me I doubt ScreenRant won't be anymore helpful; it might not pass at a GAN and definitely won't at FAC, and is really there to show basic notability.

Just got out of church, and just wanted to say that I'm thankful for your work and encouragement. You're great! Panini! 🥪 18:04, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words! It's nice to hear - sometimes it just seems like I'm perpetually the bad guy for always making people follow the rules. I appreciate your efforts too. Request re: Typequick

Hope you've been well! I'm just reaching out to get a second opinion on an article I've written as a paid editor called Typequick. I have been careful with my contact (the founder of Typequick) to be balanced and neutral, though for peace of mind I would be grateful if you could have a look and let me know how it reads. Kind regards-- Coin945 ( talk) 10:39, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Hey! I can try to look at it some time, but paid editing isn't really my area of expertise, and unfortunately I'm probably going to be tight on editing time for the next month or so. My quick glance at it didn't show any glaring issues, but I didn't look that closely either. Sergecross73 msg me 00:13, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

The above IP is complaining of reverts done to their edits under Special:Contributions/2A02:8440:3340:C9BB:F41D:CB0B:66AE:584C/32 which may not be broad enough but I believe we can't do more than /32. I'm not seeing a LOT of collatereal, and a LOT of reverts that are probably other disruptive users as well. Vaati's reverts look valid to me. @ NinjaRobotPirate: Dear friend, any opinion on blocking the above /32 or more? -- ferret ( talk) 14:25, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Is there any confusion in my sincere work, thank you !?

Hello, I do not understand your withdrawal on the 'Category: Pack-in video games' command. Could you please tell me if I am confusing 'bundle' and 'pack-in' thank you, that would be much faster and save me unnecessary work, thank you! Here is the working page concerning the 'pack-in', thank you very much! (not to be deleted!) [2] -- Benjamin-chaptal ( talk) 14:40, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I confused as to how a few of your selections were "pack in games". Xenoblade, for example, has not ever been packed in on any console, to my knowledge. "Pack in" usually means that it was packed with a hardware release. Like Wii Sports with Wii or Sonic 2 with Sega Genesis. As far as I know, a few of your selections were wrong, which is why I reverted you. Sergecross73 msg me 16:09, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Can't get through to an editor

Hi Serge. Earlier, I edited the article for 10 (Spice album), explaining my edits, and was reverted with no explanation by ORI1C, who has now gone on to say that they the source for their edits is themselves, they themselves are Jamaican, "personally created" the article for the artist, and they have "no reason to lie" so presumably I should just trust them and "stop deleting [their] edits". I removed the short description because it's generated by the infobox, and added a table caption per MOS:TABLECAPTION. For some reason, the editor undid these edits. However, my main issue is they have reinstated unsourced recording dates/years (claiming on their talk page a track was recorded in 2013 but not having a reliable source for it), and claimed that the genres reggae and reggae fusion were listed in a source when they aren't mentioned by it at all. I have a feeling this editor has a sense of ownership of articles relating to this artist based on what they've said, and I'm about at my limit of being able to somewhat calmly explain things to them. I've said multiple times they need to source all these bits of information, but they're essentially saying I should trust them as a source. Could you maybe try to point them in the right direction if you get some time? Thanks. Ss 112 20:14, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Although I still have concerns about their mentality towards editing, the problematic editing seems to have abated for now. I'll let you know if it resumes. Ss 112 08:20, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Final Fantasy VII

Hey, I was the one who edited the intro of the Final Fantasy VII article. I just think "become a god" reveals more about the plot than is necessary in a basic overview. Just wanted to explain why I was editing it. The way it's written now is the way it's been written for a while. I don't think it's unreasonable to keep it this way. Thanks. 2601:346:C281:79F0:F1C8:1322:48E5:F7DC ( talk) 05:34, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Also, I read the article's history. I didn't realize there was a "vote" or any discussion on it yet it still struck me as superfluous and sort of crossing the line of spoiling too much. It seems to be a controversial. I didn't take part in whatever "vote" there was--seems like people naturally have a problem with that addition enough for it to stick out. I'd think it would be a good idea to just leave the extra "become a god" part out. 2601:346:C281:79F0:F1C8:1322:48E5:F7DC ( talk) 05:34, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
Please read WP:SPOILER. Beyond that, it's not even much of a spoiler - that's the goal of like half the JRPG villains out there. I also resent your edit summary suggesting my revert was "childish". There's nothing childish about undoing a wording tweak that isn't an improvement. Anyways, we adhere to the prior consensus until/unless a new one is created, so your revert isn't justified until you start up a new discussion. Please see WP:BRD, WP:BURDEN, and WP:CONSENSUS. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 11:25, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
You're right to resent me calling it "childish." I was reading past behavior I'd experienced onto you. I apologize—for what it's worth, I'd take it back if I could. I think it's fair to say it's not much of a spoiler but I would say that if someone wants that bit of information, they're able to read the plot section. I guess it comes down to personal sensitivity to spoilers when arguing these things. I'm going to create a discussion on the talk page. 2601:346:C281:79F0:3941:4B47:1598:B74D ( talk) 07:02, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Contested Block

Hi, I was doing, to the best of my ability, to follow wikipedia's guidelines. I may have stumbled along the way but at heart my goal was to add to Scrappy's page in a way that was acceptable to wikipedia's standards. I do not think my most recent edit qualifies as fancruft, since I only wished to show Scrappy's hometown-a character's home town is not a minute detail-in fact, it is hardly the only page that it shows up in-and it is not something that has remained inconsistent. I have also seen other fictional character's hometowns and also episodes directly cited. I know that WP:BOOMERANG may be in play here, but I do feel like I have been mistreated here and I want closure on this. What is your understanding of the situation at hand? -- Smcupcake19 ( talk) 18:34, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Your edits were not in line with standards, you were told that multiple times by multiple people, and your continued to keep doing it anyways. It's really as simple as that, and I'm rather concerned that you still don't understand that. Sergecross73 msg me 19:02, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Hi, Sergecross73! Can you or other users help me moving pages to existing pages ?? Because I just can move page to new article page, but can't move to existing pages. The following is my requests:

By Your Side (Calvin Harris and Tom Grennan song) move page to By Your Side (Calvin Harris song), Pressure (Martin Garrix and Tove Lo song) move page to Pressure (Martin Garrix song)

Because featured artists should not be in the titles.

Thanks!! Tim96144 ( talk) 12:33, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

I actually haven't done much work in music with featured artists like this, so I don't personally know if those are the naming rules or not. If you can point me to the guideline, then yes, I do have the ability to make the moves. Sergecross73 msg me 14:08, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

I found other articles is the same, so I need to move these pages to correct title. But according to Wikipedia:Moving a page, I can't be able to move these page, you can refer to front link to move page. Tim96144 ( talk) 15:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

You have said above that there are "other articles" with featured artists in the disambiguation but you have not cited any examples of pages that need to be moved for either Sergecross or myself. Which articles are you referring to? Ss 112 04:43, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Is "rock" a specific genre?

Hello, Sergecross73. Listen, just because it's in a list of "50 best rock albums of 2019", doesn't mean "rock" is a specific genre. It's an umbrella term! If we had it your way, 50 albums in 2019 would have just "rock" in the infobox, whether on its own or with the other genres in their respective articles' infobox. Those other albums are fine without the simple "rock" genre in the infobox, so why worry about this one? I'll keep the "rock" in the infobox in for now, but as soon as we find another sourced genre (post-hardcore doesn't seem right on its own since this album is way more than that), then it's gotta go. Don't say I didn't warn you.... SirZPthundergod9001 ( talk) 00:44, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

There's nothing wrong with just using "rock" if "rock" is all you have the sourcing for. It's literally that simple. You need to worry less about your own views on genre, and just stick to adding whatever can be directly cited by reliable sources. Sergecross73 msg me 00:51, 7 August 2021 (UTC)

Yes, if you are reverting my edits over and over, then the word "constantly" is not far fetch. Official Twitter? Again, I checked your source and is not even the official verified Twitter of The Walking Dead. Instead, what I saw is a Twitter of the fan-based TWD. True, it is not the first time I try to get people to be banned, but I did that for a good reason. I may violated some rules here, but you guys violate it even more. So don't try to act innocent here. You may call me a "kid", that's fine. Rosita, please listen to Tobi and the other editors undoing your edits - Wikipedia has certain sourcing standards, and fan accounts like unofficial Twitter accounts or fan wikis don't meet our standard. In this conflict, you are indeed the one who is wrong. Not only you don't gave me the reliable source so you can support your argumenty but you also ignored my message. I tried to reason with you, but not answering me or other users and then just revert things, that's a ticket to some warnings I have to put on your talk page. -- Tobi999tomas ( talk) 13:23, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

That can be the best way to handle things sometimes. I dont edit much in the world of television, but I've had similar issues in the music world - it can be tough when fans report all this interesting stuff behind the scenes, but it's unusable on Wikipedia because no websites are reporting on it. Requested move

Hey! Would you mind moving Batman: A Death in the Family to A Death in the Family (comics)? It was agreed on during the current FAC that this would be a better title, as the article is about the storyline rather than the trade it was collected under. I can handle moving the related subpages aside from talk. JOE BRO 64 21:39, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm happy to help. Should I wait until the FAC stuff is over? I don't care either way, but much of the time titles without disambiguation are preferred. ( WP:NATDAB). Not taking a stance or anything, just didn't want to push forward prematurely. But I will if you're certain. Sergecross73 msg me 14:22, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
It was recommended that we do it immediately. I agree with the movie, fwiw - and it's definitely uncontroversial, so I don't think there are any serious issues with moving it. The issue is that the article is about the storyline itself, not the specific trade it was published under (where the article is currently located). JOE BRO 64 23:05, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Malicious remove page

Sergecross73, I just found Provide (song) has disappear two days ago, User:AshMusique is vile, remove page directly, no reason, editors hard work was destructed by him, please reported the vandalism. Tim96144 ( talk) 15:13, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

( talk page watcher) Please read WP:Vandalism so that you better understand what vandalism is. While I disagree with AshMusique on this revert for ban evasion (Too much time has past with numerous edits from others since), it's not vandalism. You (Tim96144) should also read WP:NPA. -- ferret ( talk) 15:17, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
This was pretty much exactly the response I was about to write up. I agree with all of this. Sergecross73 msg me 15:29, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Provide (song)'s edit looks like no vandalism, so I don't understand why AshMusique remove all page, because it is disrespectful behavior for editors. I Just found AshMusique's contributions, he had removed pages that others created for many times, cause edit war, so I disagree the behavior. Tim96144 ( talk) 15:38, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
He put right in the edit summary why he did it: WP:EVADE. The article was primarily written by a block evading editor. We (experienced editors) remove content all the time for a variety of policy and guideline backed reasons. -- ferret ( talk) 16:03, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Personally, I don't agree with his Ash's edit, but I think he did it in good faith, and only did it once, so it's not really a problem. And even if he keeps doing it, the next step can just be to discuss it with him on a talk page. Sergecross73 msg me 17:07, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

He is spamming the Pemberton disaster, which has *no* definite death toll anyway and he just decides it's #1 with no sources. I have explained in detail that the point is not "thing fall go dead", because structural engineering is not a landslide or a fire but a preventable disaster, so it is covered in media and it impacts society a certain way. And most importantly on Wikipedia, that's what the RSes say. The death toll is because of what was planned before the place was even opened, not because of a collapse induced by sabotage or because of an accidental fire induced later by rescue operations. — Smuckola (talk) 18:52, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for getting back to me. As per the guidelines I've declared it on the page's talk page and am actively seeking a second opinion - your first glance is a sign that I'm on the right track. Hello, if u are administrator can u block a vandal named Vanti the demon for vandalism and forced passage like in the adventure of Super Mario bros 3 or the pages Koopalings we reverting this edits but he continues this awork problematic on all of Wikipedia and he have a unacceptable attitude can u block him for a long time thx.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.185.175.252 ( talk) 09:18, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

  • You have not presented a valid reason to block "Vanti". Sergecross73 msg me 16:07, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
  • It's hard to say, but a lot of the vandalism does seem to be coming from one person. I guess it'd be OK to block the entire /32 given all the vandalism. NinjaRobotPirate ( talk) 17:11, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
    • I missed that you replied. I just dropped two /32 blocks as the editor continues to be disruptive. -- ferret ( talk) 23:55, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

Ask for help

User Ss112 last week told me the article that I created, he leave a summary: moved page Lean on Me (Cheat Codes and Tinashe song) to Lean on Me (Cheat Codes song): if Tinashe is a featured artist, she should not be in the title, so I think he's correct. I found other articles is the same, so I need to move these pages to correct title. But according to Wikipedia:Moving a page, I can't be able to move these page, you can refer to front link to move page. Tim96144 ( talk) 15:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

I only just noticed this because I do not receive notifications from pings. The move I performed on said page was per WP:SONGDAB—"Artists who make a guest appearance, those who are credited with a "featuring", are not included in the disambiguation". @ Tim96144: My edit summary was not aimed at you (so I did not "tell you" anything); I simply moved a page you created content for because it was on a redirect I made. You have said above that there are "other articles" with featured artists in the disambiguation but you have not cited any examples of pages that need to be moved for either Sergecross or myself. Which articles are you referring to? Ss 112 04:43, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Sockpuppetry on the years of the heavy metal music

Hello Sergecross73. Once again, I need your help to approach this problem, but I am not sure if this is your field. Let me remind you that there is a "kid" that constantly reverted my edit without even to try to message me so he can make a good argument against me.-- Tobi999tomas ( talk) 12:47, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Stop being a good person ; you think because two people are not agree on a modification we need to be banned ? Sorry but not ; i'm not a troll and not a kid ; let's see in 3 days who was wrong -- RositaTWD ( talk) 13:14, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Rosita, please listen to Tobi and the other editors undoing your edits - Wikipedia has certain sourcing standards, and fan accounts like unofficial Twitter accounts or fan wikis don't meet our standard. See WP:USERG. Please stop so I don't need to move forward with a block or locking the page. Edut warring and/or breaking WP:3RR can lead to that. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 13:16, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
I never said that you are wrong, I said that is not confirmed yet by any official source. Your source, as I said before, is unreliable and unverified.

It can be easiest to just not bother. Sergecross73 msg me 13:52, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

  • TairyGreen ( talk · contribs) @ Ferret: If there was ever a WP:NOTHERE, it's someone who apparently uses automated tools to generate unedited junk, deletes all criticism, [3] especially where I asked for the source of his suspiciously massive preformatted text dumps, [4] and tells an admin to buzz off. [5]
We're not quite there yet. They have not made any edits since being warned. I'm watching though. -- ferret ( talk) 13:26, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
@ Ferret: Roger that. And I know you have thick skin. ;) What do you think about the two huge preformatted text dumps? Copied from another article? I find it very unlikely that this uncited fancruft addict wrote a wall of text all at once, even with feeble citation metadata. — Smuckola (talk) 20:32, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
To which articles in particular? I did look at a couple of their larger edits but it looked like sources where included. -- ferret ( talk) 21:04, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
@ Ferret: These [6] are suspicious because this user has almost never written anything of any substance, length, quality, or citations. Then comes a dump of all this prose and citations. And refuses to even answer where it came from. — Smuckola (talk) 02:41, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
  • [7]How do you guys suppose it's possible to have two accounts instantly created for the sole purpose of edit warring in all this desperate fancruft and spam? This is after I removed spam by an apparent spammer here. [8] Smuckola (talk) 05:46, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
    • Protected page. Didnt block FPerkins, since he hasn't edited in 2 weeks and is very prolific anyways. Sergecross73 msg me 15:27, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Evilcougar ( talk · contribs) The user offers us this robotic revelation, immediately after having been blocked for it. — Smuckola (talk) 02:40, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
    • Sorry for the delay. Crazy day. I gave him a very stern warning to stop. Any more and he's getting a long block. Sergecross73 msg me 01:30, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
  • Barefootrick ( talk · contribs) This is actually a guy who doesn't like having been fired from the Missouri House of Representatives for molesting his kids and abusing his wife, and has been editorializing WP:COI and now vandalizing WP:NOTHERE his own biography for quite some time. [9] Smuckola (talk) 18:00, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Blocked. No evidence the user will ever stop. -- ferret ( talk) 18:12, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Concisely observed, Ferret. Yeah, as the article content actually summarizes about the character, I think you're not the only oversight body to say there's ample evidence on and off the wiki that that's ...kind of.... his thing. — Smuckola (talk) 18:31, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
  • It is edgelord season over on Hyatt Regency walkway collapse so can you please restore the page protection again? I dunno why it was so short. It's the 40th anniversary plus the presently coinciding Surfside collapse so everybody's dying to scoop it. We have one WP:3RR saying that years of local continuous Pulitzer Prize winning disaster coverage isnt notable (the definition of notability) and isnt supremely controversial to the community, and trashing RS. Others are pregnant with WP:OR and trivia. Not even all of it is IPs so I dunno what else to do. Thanks. — Smuckola (talk) 17:07, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure what to do. They're good faith edits...but generally unsourced or misguided. But as you say, a couple people have accounts. Semi-protection won't do much, and full protection will lock you out too. Sergecross73 msg me 23:13, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
I reckon please just do IP protection and handle the edit warrior, with warning and revert. I'm working on that article long term in sandbox. And I question good faith when this person is cherry picking policy to fully and consistently misinterpret to justify edit war over *nothing*. That person is also reinstating another's garbage offtopic OR-promoting comments on an article Talk page, citing "dont edit talk pages" lol. [10] He cites WP:TPO which explicitly says to delete offtopic chat. — Smuckola (talk) 23:36, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
Someone beat me to it. (Sorry - busy day!) They did it for a week. If it persists, let me know and I'll lay down a longer one. (The page history shows that this is already like the second one on the last month or so. Sergecross73 msg me 14:57, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
The disaster porn contest is underway by at least two editors at Hyatt regency walkway collapse and Surfside condominium collapse. They are dead set on some tastelessly desperate WP:OR about creating a ranking system of every which way things went boom and people died. I told one to not even start and he said this and created an pointless WP:SYNTH algorithm out of multiple sources which I already deleted yesterday and he rewrote anyway so I dunno I guess it's kind of okay but is something to watch. 68.144.93.30 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS) in general is a total WP:OR warrior who has done almost nothing else, with everything reverted so he definitely needs to be blocked due to his entire edit history.
I think you might have overlooked 68.144.93.30 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS) here. — Smuckola (talk) 07:33, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, it's just that, I'm so tied into the world of video game and music, that it's generally easy for me to identify OR or bad misrepresentations of situations. It's...a lot harder for me to identify stuff related to building collapses. They're not real prolific though, at least. Only one edit in August so far. Sergecross73 msg me 21:05, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
  • Stonecold415 ( talk · contribs) is adding a network of unreliable sources (Pro Football Rumors and MLB Trade Rumors) to rookies upon signing their contract. They have been blocked in the past for being disruptive and not responding on their talk page. Their singular focus on adding this network leads me to think they might have some sort of personal connection to them and thus a possible WP:COI, although I do not have any proof of this. ~ Dissident93 ( talk) 10:58, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
  • Final-warned before escalating to a block next time. Sergecross73 msg me 01:43, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Yeah, regardless of who they are, they're connected and disruptive, so I think it's the right choice. Sergecross73 msg me 14:20, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
@ Sergecross73, NinjaRobotPirate, and Ferret: Yeah I was thinking of Lyan, and since you mention that and checkuser, here's a similar tune in the key of robotically unresponsive logo spamming: Mistedspectacle Smuckola (talk) 18:43, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
@ NinjaRobotPirate: And now definitely Sussyboy17. — Smuckola (talk) 08:23, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Mistedspectacle is on the wrong continent for Lyanbox782. NinjaRobotPirate ( talk) 13:21, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
@ NinjaRobotPirate: well yeah, but he's on the wrong website for spamming nonfree logos anyway. :) — Smuckola (talk) 09:49, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
@ NinjaRobotPirate: Anyway, ClickClack2021isthebetterthan2020 wanted to let you know as loudly and blatantly and robotically as possible, that his latest account is TCFfan17. That is all. — Smuckola (talk) 11:37, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
  • AquilaXIII this person is maaaaassively disruptive, having unilaterally renamed a big category to a nonsensical spelling. At the very least I'm wondering if someone here has a tool to continue the mass revertings. Someone already did revert a ton of them, and he just plowed on forth. As you can see from his Talk page, he is chronically permanently committed to countless kinds of disruption. Lots of bad and pointless ideas, and blowing everyone off. Thanks. — Smuckola (talk) 09:53, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Like I said, massive disruptive fake-renaming of "lo-fi" to the nonsensical "lofi". Do you have the tool to rename Lofi hip hop to Lo-fi hip hop over its redirect? Thanks. — Smuckola (talk) 08:27, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
  • JordanBay: Maybe NinjaRobotPirate would like to do a checkuser on this one. It was created at the same time as Evilcougar which was mentioned above, and has the same single-minded obsession with Transformers and did at least one instance of exactly the same genre-warrior edit here. JordanBay follows JordanAlpha on this article history, and is a somehow unblocked sockpuppet of the blocked JamesJoqauin. — Smuckola (talk) 10:11, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
    • Dude... you just pinged me four times (and something like six times total in the past 24 hours). That's an admirable amount of enthusiasm for the project and for cleanup/counter-vandalism, but I can't keep up with that. As far as I can tell, Evilcougar and JordanBay are Red X Unrelated. JordanBay looks behaviorally like JordanAlpha, but I don't see a clear violation of WP:SOCK here, even counting the earlier warning. That doesn't preclude some other admin blocking them, but I'm not really in a "block them all and let UTRS sort them out" mood right now. NinjaRobotPirate ( talk) 16:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
    • These reports are...a little less "black and white" or less "severe" than the type of stuff I usually like to unilaterally take action on. Renaming a category with a hyphen or adding "Japanese-American" to stuff is...not great...but not really the type of thing I'm trying to break out the ban-hammer for, you know? I think some of these things should be discussion on talk pages or reports on ANI for the community to weigh in on. Sorry. Sergecross73 msg me 12:45, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
He didn't just rename a category and I didn't ask for a ban-hammer. I said he is a genre warrior who unilaterally mass-edited a hundred articles in a row, and I asked if there is such a thing as a tool to mass revert those. :) — Smuckola (talk) 22:51, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
Sorry, I don't know. I don't really do any automated editing outside of the occasional archiving. Sergecross73 msg me 22:57, 17 August 2021 (UTC)
  • No problem. Done! Question- strictly out of my own curiosity - is there a reason why this game gets so much disruption? The protection log is pretty lengthy. Sergecross73 msg me 20:21, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
  • I am not sure. This is the only Lego game that attracts this level of activity. This game seems to have a lot of hype behind it as well for Lego fans. OceanHok ( talk) 06:51, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
  • Coffeeaddict450 ( talk · contribs) Most of the edits are reverted, ending so far in a really pointless edit war including deleting the official guideline comments. — Smuckola (talk) 22:51, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
    • His edits are...ill-conceived, but I don't get the feeling they're made in bad faith, nor are they particularly damaging stuff, and there's only been a couple reverts that have happened. I think the couple of warnings they already have are probably as much as things should be escalated at this point. Sergecross73 msg me 14:27, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
