I got a notification that you undid a redirect on Lady Eve due to the notability issues outside of the fact that she is a top minion of Kobra and had a version of her appearing in the Black Lightning TV. I am letting you know that I had established Lady Eve's page with info from the List of minor DC Comics characters page due to her appearances in comics including DC Rebirth and the fact that someone put her link in the Outsiders template. Hello Sergecross73. This IP address is my community college's IP that is assigned to computers throughout the campus. A year ago, there was an edit war between two different users and I have to admit, a six month block is unfair. I asked another admin and he declined the unblock. In August 2018, just another (only one) unconstructive edit was made resulting in a year long block. I consider this unfair. I hope there can be feedback about this IP since I don't want another declined unblock request. I also feel that admins are discriminators who don't care about their editors (unless they are administrators), and I ask you for help. This makes me a user who is nicer than admins in general. I'm asking for it to be unblocked because there were no warnings given after the block expired. There should have been warnings. And I put in discrimination because of reading on WP:ANI and other admins' talk pages, I have to agree with the editor. Everyone has the right to edit but my college's IP address is not allowed to just for one edit. I haven't been that active and won't be until there is an "admin reform". I notice a lot of admins violating WP:CIVIL and they have done that for years. Some admins are never friendly. And they lie, too; @ Ferret: there have been constructive editors on that IP address, including one who restored warnings, some other user just removes them when they pop up. Also, I read on WP:ANI (archived) that some administrators are just plain bad, so bad that it makes some editors want to do self-harm. I don't know why you don't take care of administrators being so rude. They use such a strong tone to hurt someone. Why do you not take care of that? They might have done something but stop biting them. There are multiple policies taking care of this. And some editors complain about admins not following them. I don't want to see an editor commit suicide just because of the incivility of administrators. Do something! Pinging other admins such as @ Acroterion, Doug Weller, Drmies, Floquenbeam, GeneralizationsAreBad, Primefac, Ritchie333, TonyBallioni, and Widr: I'm just listing examples, but calling every admin out. I will try to help you, but there’s a lot going on here. I need more details, and some of this is...a little off-base. To explain:

1. I’m still unclear on the accusations of discrimination. Specifically who discriminated against who? What exactly is the discriminated group here, and what is the proof of it? Are we talking about racism? Sexism? Ageism? Religion?
2. What is the edit that caused the second block without warning? Because depending on what it was, further warnings aren’t always warranted. (For example, if I see someone going around making edits like switching “ Super Mario Bros” to “Super Poop Bros”, I could see jumping straight to blocking - there’s no real scenario in which someone in good-faith, would believe that edit would be acceptable. Especially if the editor/IP had been blocked for this before.
3. Yes, everyone starts off with the right to edit, but it is not a guarantee. It is forfeited when people don’t follow the rules. It’s unfortunate that anonymous editors get IP addresses blocked and make it so innocent people can’t edit, but it still doesn’t violate Wikipedia’s principles because there are still ways for the innocent to edit.
4. If there are good-faith editors who want to edit Wikipedia at your college, but can’t because of the block, I’d encourage them to create an account. Even if the blocks are affecting school computers, most students likely have a laptop and/or smartphone where they could create an account for editing from anywhere.
5. While I don’t support anyone antagonizing anyone to the point of suicide, I dont believe “admin causing suicide” is a common scenario on Wikipedia. Such things should be taken very seriously...but I believe any cases of this have been very much such isolated accounts.
6. To ask me “Why aren’t you doing anything about admin making people suicidal” is like going to your local police officer and asking them why they didn’t prevent the 9/11 attacks. It’s awful, but I’m just one random authority figure. Wrong time, wrong place, and a bigger issue than what I can take care of.
7. My talk page isn’t going to be the place to discuss admin reform. An unblock, maybe. But tagging a bunch of admin and then complaining isn’t going to get you the results you want. WP:VP or WP:AN are probably the types of venues you’d want for big changes. But I can tell you right now - if you go there, you’re going to need much more detailed stuff there. This is mostly vague complaining about vague anecdotes without proposing any concrete changes for solutions. Hey Sergecross, just asking your opinion since you edit rock and metal acts' articles quite a bit and I see it quite a bit as well: do you think terms like lead vocals, drums, guitar, etc. should be linked in the personnel section? I usually remove these because WP:OVERLINK says common terms understood in context (especially on an album article where most readers will know what basic instruments are), but many editors still see fit to include them. In addition to that, what do you think about references throughout an article repeatedly linking to a specific publisher (like repeated links to Billboard (magazine) each time that publication is sourced)? • First question: Yes, you are correct, linking vocals, guitar, etc are considered overlinking. I recall because I started a WikiProject level discussion on it somewhere years ago, and was surprised that the consensus was that it was overlinking because I had seen them be linked so prominently. But yeah, consensus was that it was generall overlinking, though I personally tend to link to things like mixing and mastering because I don’t think your average person understands some of those sorts of roles.
• Second question - I would generally not link something like Billboard repeatedly, with the exception of it being listed repeatedly in the charts section. I don’t know for sure, but it’s maybe more acceptable to overlink in re-sortable charts. I could be wrong though. Sergecross73 msg me 00:02, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

• Following a request for comment, the Mediation Committee is now closed and will no longer be accepting case requests.
• A request for comment is in progress to determine whether members of the Bot Approvals Group should satisfy activity requirements in order to remain in that role.
• A request for comment is in progress regarding whether to change the administrator inactivity policy, such that administrators "who have made no logged administrative actions for at least 12 months may be desysopped". Currently, the policy states that administrators "who have made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least 12 months may be desysopped".
• A proposal has been made to temporarily restrict editing of the Main Page to interface administrators in order to mitigate the impact of compromised accounts.

Technical news

• Administrators and bureaucrats can no longer unblock themselves unless they placed the block initially. This change has been implemented globally. See also this ongoing village pump discussion ( permalink).
• To complement the aforementioned change, blocked administrators will soon have the ability to block the administrator that placed their block to mitigate the possibility of a compromised administrator account blocking all other active administrators.
• Since deployment of Partial blocks on Test Wikipedia, several bugs were identified. Most of them are now fixed. Administrators are encouraged to test the new deployment and report new bugs on Phabricator or leave feedback on the Project's talk page. You can request administrator access on the Test Wiki here.

• Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee Elections is open to eligible editors until Monday 23:59, 3 December 2018. Please review the candidates and, if you wish to do so, submit your choices on the voting page.

Miscellaneous

• In late November, an attacker compromised multiple accounts, including at least four administrator accounts, and used them to vandalize Wikipedia. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately. Sharing the same password across multiple websites makes your account vulnerable, especially if your password was used on a website that suffered a data breach. As these incidents have shown, these concerns are not pure fantasies.
• Wikipedia policy requires administrators to have strong passwords. To further reinforce security, administrators should also consider enabling two-factor authentication. A committed identity can be used to verify that you are the true account owner in the event that your account is compromised and/or you are unable to log in.

• Shock Brigade Harvester Boris (Raymond Arritt) passed away on 14 November 2018. Boris joined Wikipedia as Raymond arritt on 8 May 2006 and was an administrator from 30 July 2007 to 2 June 2008.

Since he’s got a lot history with promotional editing, you probably have a connection to (or are) Aashu. I’d have you relay the message to him that Wikipedia is not a vanity project where you write your own biography or ask others to do it on your behalf. • There are a number of new or changed speedy deletion criteria, each previously part of WP:CSD#G6:

1. G14 (new): Disambiguation pages that disambiguate only zero or one existing pages are now covered under the new G14 criterion ( discussion). This is {{ db-disambig}}; the text is unchanged and candidates may be found in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as unnecessary disambiguation pages.
2. R4 (new): Redirects in the file namespace (and no file links) that have the same name as a file or redirect at Commons are now covered under the new R4 criterion ( discussion). This is {{ db-redircom}}; the text is unchanged.
3. G13 (expanded): Userspace drafts containing only the default Article Wizard text are now covered under G13 along with other drafts ( discussion). Such blank drafts are now eligible after six months rather than one year, and taggers continue to use {{ db-blankdraft}}.

• The Wikimedia Foundation now requires all interface administrators to enable two-factor authentication.
• Members of the Bot Approvals Group (BAG) are now subject to an activity requirement. After two years without any bot-related activity (e.g. operating a bot, posting on a bot-related talk page), BAG members will be retired from BAG following a one-week notice.

Technical news

• Starting on December 13, the Wikimedia Foundation security team implemented new password policy and requirements. Privileged accounts (administrators, bureaucrats, checkusers, oversighters, interface administrators, bots, edit filter managers/helpers, template editors, et al.) must have a password at least 10 characters in length. All accounts must have a password:

1. At least 8 characters in length
2. Not in the 100,000 most popular passwords (defined by the Password Blacklist library)
3. Different from their username

User accounts not meeting these requirements will be prompted to update their password accordingly. More information is available on MediaWiki.org.

• Blocked administrators may now block the administrator that blocked them. This was done to mitigate the possibility that a compromised administrator account would block all other active administrators, complementing the removal of the ability to unblock oneself outside of self-imposed blocks. A request for comment is currently in progress to determine whether the blocking policy should be updated regarding this change.
• {{ Copyvio-revdel}} now has a link to open the history with the RevDel checkboxes already filled in.

• Following the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: AGK, Courcelles, GorillaWarfare, Joe Roe, Mkdw, SilkTork.

Miscellaneous

• Accounts continue to be compromised on a regular basis. Evidence shows this is entirely due to the accounts having the same password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately.
• Around 22% of admins have enabled two-factor authentication, up from 20% in June 2018. If you haven't already enabled it, please consider doing so. Regardless of whether you use 2FA, please practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.

• You don’t necessarily have to stop editing it, you just have to stop adding unsourced entries or adding fake sources that don’t actually verify your additions. But if you are unwilling or unable to correctly add sources, then yes, it would be best you not edit the article.
• The problem with concept albums is that often people make mistakes in interpreting whether or not an album is a concept album or just an almost with some vague common things. The article underwent a massive 2 year review, and there were a staggering number of entries that were incorrect. Now that the article has been fully cleaned up, a source is needed to verify each entry to make sure the article doesn’t fall back into disrepair.
• Technically, per the Wikipedia policy on verification and sourcing, all content added to Wikipedia requires sources. So, while your reaction may be to just walk away from the concep album article, know that if you keep adding unsourced content to any Wikipedia article, you’ll likely eventually find your account blocked from editing. Generally, when it’s not a formal discussion like AFD, you don’t necessarily need to wait for a formal close if the consensus is pretty clear. That said, you may want to wait a little bit for the discussion to die down, as there were still 4-5 comments today. If you need it I can make a call when it slows down - I don’t really have a stance so I could neutrally do it - but usually in this sort of thing is as simple as anyone just going ahead and making the changes... Thanks for noticing! I really really enjoyed their most recent album, and was motivated to improve/create everything related to it. Then I doubled down on improving the band article after they got their Grammy Nominations last year, knowing people would be looking them up. (Also I recall a specific blogger scoffing at the fact that a Grammy nominated band hand such a terrible looking band article, as if it made them unworthy or something.)

Anyways, to answer your question, it’s kind of similar to the situation with Blue - it looks great, but there’s a couple sources in there that I’m not sure would convince a hardcore RS skeptic. Mostly, the stuff about their early years. They got soooo little coverage in their early years. But they’ve become a lot bigger in the last year too, so maybe some can be replaced at this point too.
