SEEPZ

Dear Serge,

My name is Manoj. I fixed SEEPZ page again today, I was in-charge of SEEPZ (running that operations for over 3 years). Noone knows SEEPZ better than I do.

Today ~ I did some research and saw, you are the admin. Need to speak to me? I am in the US and my number is 414-949-9384 or send me your number and I'll call you. This time I even put a hyperlink to my profile. These days, I am trying to patch up with Boeing, Airbus & Apple type companies for my most recent innovations and I'm about to apply for US Patents for them too. Follow me on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/iGrowCash) connect with me on LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com/in/manojtewari).

Anything I can do for you, all you need to do is ask.

Thanks for your time and have a wonderful day!

Hi Manoj. Unfortunately, verification of the information is only half the issue here. The other main issue here is that Wikipedia is not a means of self-promotion or social media. (See WP:PROMOTION and WP:SOCIALMEDIA.) Basically, Wikipedia is not a means to "get the word out about you". There's plenty of other ways to do this on internet these days (like LinkedIn or Twitter) and you seem to be a pretty tech-savy guy, so I'm sure you can find another means of promoting yourself. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 22:30, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for responding back.....I read your comments.

I changed many other things and you did not accept those changes. I was in-charge of SEEPZ, I know it better than anyone else. There are many mistakes in your page.

I was instrumental in creating the new standard operating procedures. Hence, I wrote what I wrote.

Listen, if it makes sense to you. The association of all the units can email you a write up. if it has a para on who created the SOP's, would that be okay?

Let me know.

If you want to fix factual errors, feel free to propose changes, additions, and sources to back it up, then you're free to propose them on the talk page. However:
  1. Wikipedia is supposed to be written according to what third parties say on a subject. You are closely tied to the subject, so you have a Conflict of interest when it comes to writing about the subject.
  2. You are not to be writing about yourself on the page. You are clearly writing about yourself in a promotional manner.
In short, the type of sources to be used should be the type of things you'd see written by a newspaper, magazine, or well established website. Yahoo News, not a random WordPress Blog. Sergecross73 msg me 01:00, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

Sanic Ball

I want to create a page about the Sonic The Hedgehog parody game Sanic Ball. However, I'm not sure how to create charts that show when the game was released, who published it, etc.... I'm not sure if it's even is good enough material for a Wikipedia article. Can you help me? ~ TheJoebro64 —Preceding undated comment added 22:49, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

I will help, but first, we need to make sure that it meets Wikipedia's standard for having an article - the WP:GNG. The short version - you need multiple third party sources covering it in significant detail. Usually 4-5 is enough to keep people from deleting it. WP:VG/S is a good place to see which sources are commonly accepted or rejected as usable. Sergecross73 msg me 23:23, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
The only source that has actually covered it is Metacritic, and there are only user reviews there... I guess not many good sources wrote anything about it (there was a pretty hilarious PewDiePie video on it, though). — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheJoebro64 ( talkcontribs) 23:41, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
Technically, everything is supposed to be written according to what sources say, so if we don't have any sources, we can't write a legit article. It'd probably be better to turn your attention elsewhere. I'll help you in general if you want it though. Sergecross73 msg me 23:51, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

The Kyoko Kirigiri article got recreated

So, someone made an article on the Danganronpa character Kyoko Kirigiri again, just two days after the old one's AfD ended with deletion. What's the best way to handle this?-- IDV talk 12:11, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

I WP:G4'd it, and gave the editor a final warning that if they recreate any more AFD-deleted articles, or create any more unsourced articles, they're going to receive a block. Let me know if you notice him doing either. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 12:40, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
Thank you. I didn't see the original version of the article, so I wasn't sure if it was similar enough for G4 to apply.-- IDV talk 12:41, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
They were exact duplicates, but it was similar and suffered from the same problems cited in the AFD - entirely regurgitated plot summary of the Danganronpa media she's been in, without a single source present. Sergecross73 msg me 12:45, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

I have not been vandalising, I've been falsely accused by Dissident93.

Hi there, I see that I have been tagged for "Vandalism" regarding Sega articles by Dissident93? I find that disrespectful and offensive with my edits. All I have been doing is that, I have been updating the company templates with all the Sega subsidiaries and divisions so that they all have the same company templates. For example, the template used for Atlus and Relic Entertainment were drastically different, so, I decided to provide the same template format for consistency purposes.

Alongside that, I have added logo's for Sega franchises such as Jet Set Radio and Panzer Dragoon as they were lacking logo's. Plus, I have updated key Sega pages with their Intellectual Property acquisition of the defunct Technosoft. These are edits that, with citations (in which I clearly place), are allowed.

I do not understand as to what Dissident93 is trying to gain out of falsely accusing me. Iftekharahmed96 ( talk) 22:10, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

  • He did not accuse you of vandalism, he accused you of being another editor who is evading his block. Sergecross73 msg me 23:17, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
  • I did not accuse you of vandalism, I simply put that there because it's a catch-all place to post things that should be looked at by an admin. The same articles you edit are the ones that were continuously edited by a ban evading user in the past (pretty much the only person who had edited those pages in the past year or so was him), so I thought it was something that should be looked at because the user (Triple-DDD) had created multiple sock pocket accounts to evade his original ban. It's just suspicious that the only game articles you edit are the same ones he focused on too, that's all. In your defense, you haven't done anything worth being banned for. ~ Dissident93 ( talk) 23:48, 4 October 2016 (UTC)
  • That's still an accusation based on an assumption. This is a disrespect to my contributions and has made me very upset. Making accusations results in distrust and breaks the community nature of Wikipedia. I have a life to live and a job to work for in the real world, I don't live my life on Wikipedia. why would I waste my time making duplicate sock puppet accounts? I have never heard of the user (Triple-DDD). You should have spoke to me about this first before going to an admin. As mentioned on your wall page, I demand an apology for this false accusation! Dissident93. Iftekharahmed96 ( talk) 08:51, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Dissident did nothing wrong, he merely asked me to look into it. Not exactly sure why you'd be so offended for someone to say you might be someone you've never even heard of. A simple "I'm not him" would suffice usually... Sergecross73 msg me 10:17, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
  • The user created multiple accounts over the span of the past year or two and edited the same exact Sega articles you have, so I don't know how you can blame me for being slightly suspicious. The way you're reacting is also not helping any. If you are not him, then you're fine because like I've said, you've done nothing wrong (outside of potential sockpuppeting, which requires more than just suspicious to take action against). ~ Dissident93 ( talk) 18:27, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

That doesn't change the fact that I am still offended by the accusation. Being offended is a subjective state of mind and not an objective one. Dissident93 should have spoke to me about this concern before going to you directly. A simple "no" wouldn't have sufficed as I would have inevitably been probed and accused even further. I understand that, as a moderator, it's your job to seek out any users who are maliciously damaging or manipulating Wikipedia entries for their bias, or, are just generally going against Wikipedia's rule. I understand and respect that. But fact of the matter is, I'm an emotionally driven individual, therefore, I take accusations like this personally. I still expect an apology from Dissident93 Iftekharahmed96 ( talk) 18:23, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the insight, but what he did was neither wrong of him to do, nor something he needs to apologize for. Remove yourself from the situation and think about the situation in general. Lets say that you were Tripple ddd, trying to get around his block. Do you think he'd just come out and say "Oh yeah, its me, you caught me! I'll stop now, don't worry.". No, of course not, which is why a direct confrontation doesn't really accomplish much. Guilty or innocent, the response will be the same. That's why its not necessary for editors to discuss said concerns with people first. They either go to WP:SPI to investigate it, or go to an Admin who has blocked the person in the past, as Dissident did.
  • I can see where Dissident is coming from. You're a new account created around the time that Tripple was recent blocked again, and you edit a lot of the same topics. I just haven't seen anything that is literally the same edits that Tripple has made, so I haven't taken action yet. Wanted to look into it further, and see if there were any other observations from others. Sergecross73 msg me 18:49, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi

Sadly I see that your final warning to TheLongTone has gone without any change in responses to others. I did not see this until today because I have been on a holiday since last week. But it is to me completely confusing that the user has the need to be very abusive towards others, especially as the creator of several AfD. [1], calling me and other users "nasty little cabals" is beyond being civil by any standard. Using the AfD process as a personal playground is inappropriate. Regards.-- BabbaQ ( talk) 14:36, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

I do wish he'd stick on topic better, but that was less of a personal attack, and more of an off-topic complaint about perceived canvassing. I don't think much would be warranted other than a comment to keep on topic... Sergecross73 msg me 14:47, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

MadWorld is a Sega franchise.

I seen your revision and you stated an incorrect statement, MadWorld is a Sega franchise. Below this sentence is the evidence pointing to that...

Sega announced that it would be publishing four PlatinumGames' titles. [1] According to Minami, the titles were unique and creative, and it was courageous of Sega to publish these risky titles. Minami added further that the partnership with Sega allowed them to bring these titles to Western markets. The three games included: MadWorld, Infinite Space, and Bayonetta. [2] Each was released in 2009. All the intellectual properties created by PlatinumGames as part of the partnership are owned by Sega. [3]

The Wikipedia page for Anarchy Reigns states that it is a sequel to MadWorld with citations attached.

It is the sequel to the Wii video game MadWorld, and was released on July 5, 2012 in Japan, but the planned simultaneous release in North America, Europe and Australia is said "to be confirmed" by Sega on May 25. [4]

Please respond Iftekharahmed96 ( talk) 14:05, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

  1. You should be citing sources, not Wikipedia wording. Sources don't change, Wikipedia wording constantly fluctuates. For your argument to be valid, it should cite sources, not Wikipedia's wording.
  2. Can you provide a reliable sources that Sega calls Madworld a series or a franchise? I know some sources may call it a "follow up" or a "sequel", but I don't think anyone calls it an actual "series" or "franchise". If you're going to call it a "series", it should at least have a name. What would that overarching name be? Sergecross73 msg me 14:23, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

http://www.gamespy.com/articles/874/874183p1.html

This is the citation that provides evidence that Sega contracted Platinum Games for new intellectual properties.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-25-anarchy-reigns-delayed-in-the-west-platinum-says

This is the citation that talks about Anarchy Reigns being the sequel to MadWorld.

I'm not against you removing the franchise because there's no over-arching name. I just wanted to correct you when you said that "Its also only loosely connected to Sega since they don't develop them". because MadWorld/Anarchy Reigns is copyright to Sega. Iftekharahmed96 ( talk) 17:22, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

My primary argument is that its not collectively referred to as a series/franchise by reliable sources. My statement about them not being Sega developed was just another side thought about how weak of an example it was of a "Sega series". I did realize they they publish it, yes, I just meant its not even developed by Sega in-house. If that's not a requirement to being on the template, then by all means ignore that part of the rationale. Sergecross73 msg me 17:42, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Being outsourced is indeed not a requirement to be on the template. A Sega franchise just has to be copyrighted to them, published by them and mass promoted by them. For example, Vectorman was developed by BlueSky Software (a developer completely unrelated to Sega) but has become a franchise for Sega through releases and cameos. But I can accept your reasoning for not adding MadWorld as it is a valid reason. Iftekharahmed96 ( talk) 19:05, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Well, Skies of Arcadia isn't a series/franchise either. Its just a single game and some character cameos in some other game Sega games. I guess I need to do a review of the template, because there's some shaky entries on it like that. But Vectorman, yeah, I'll concede taht one. If Sega "published-only" games are included on the template, that's fine. My issue is more sourcing and number of entries. Sergecross73 msg me 19:19, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Help on some information regarding release dates as well as other information.

Hello Serge (if you don't mind calling me that, if not, then that's fine)

I have noticed that on some video game series pages such as WWE 2K, and WWE 2K17, that I've fixed have some issues with using correctly displayed information such as using – instead of a smaller -. For example:

Incorrect version:

Vicarious Visions (1995-2002)

Correct version:

Vicarious Visions (1995–2011)

As you can see here, by my perspective, using a smaller dash for dates like that, I do not approve. And this goes with release dates as well. Like for example:

Correct version:

October 12, 2016

Incorrect version:

October 12th, 2016

As for release dates, I just simply do not like having release dates put with 'th's, 'st's, and 'nd's. If you understand what I'm talking about, I would like for you to help me out with deleting any release dates that have those abbreviations or whatever you call those. Thanks again for your time. Adding "non-related media" voice actors to manga/anime characters' infobox

Hey there, admin. If I can ask you something - I know that in video game characters' infoboxes, or the characters from movies/tv series/etc, every actors who played/ voiced them in all sorts of media are listed in their infoboxes. But when it comes to manga/anime characters, the only actors who are listed in their infoboxes are the ones who voiced or portrayed them in their franchise's media. But if they appear in some other media such as commercials, other tv series (both live-action and animated) or games that are not related to their franchise's media, is it allowable to add those actors who played them there, or we can only add them in characters' "In other media" section? Thanks. Disturbedasylum

You know, I'm not entirely sure what the standards are for that. I know the standards for video games and music up and down, but not so much with anime or fictional characters. I've only created one fictional character article in my years here, and I think I let someone else fill in the fields for that. I love anime video games, but don't actually watch hardly any anime. Anyways, have you asked WP:ANIME? They may be able to help? Is this in response to a particular dispute? I could take a look if you wanted. Sergecross73 msg me 19:27, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

I didn't asked them. If I find some time, I'll ask them. And no, it's not part of any dispute, don't you worry. If that happens, I'll let you know. I was editing Kenpachi Zaraki's page, (the dude from Bleach) and if you know about web series DEATH BATTLE, you probably know about its spin-off series One Minute Melee. Anyway, to cut things short, Kenpachi appears in that series three times (PS: he fought Akuma from Street Fighter and Kenny lost all three times) and I've discovered who was his voice actor, and I was wondering if I can add in his infobox the actor who voiced him in other media that is not related to Bleach. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Disturbedasylum ( talkcontribs) 10:37, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Personally, if no one's opposing you on it, I'd say just go for it, and if someone opposes or removes it, then hash it out on the talk page at that point. You wouldn't be able to keep reverting others on those ground, but you can make the first move on it just fine. And regardless on whether or not it should be in the infobox, its definitely the type of information that could go in the body of the article. (Assuming its true and sourced any everything.) So feel free to add a sentence about it in the article at the very least. Sergecross73 msg me 13:32, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

I ratherit all removed and Ferret do his own reserch. Is there are process for requesting you work and plagurise material removed. Russell Russell1960 ( talk) 07:08, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Well, in a general sense, you're free to make requests on the talk page, and see if someone will make it, but your reasoning above isn't valid. Once you submit information to Wikipedia, anyone has the right the edit it. It's the foundation of the entire website. I mean, if we're talking about copyright violations, then yes, that must be removed, but that would leave you in much more hot water since you first added the content. Sergecross73 msg me 10:52, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Sergecross, whatvI meant is that it was my original material and research. I feel disappointed that another contributor deleted it in entiety (it was not just edited), and then reposted a contribition using my material asserting it is their own. What want to find out is can I have the material I submitted removed, including what was copied by another contributor. they can then research and write whatever they want. Anyway, is there a process for having my work removed that was copied without attribution by another. Russell Russell1960 ( talk) 11:20, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm not sure why you have such a hard time with this. I've already told you that my edit note attributed the summary I wrote to the plot addition you had previously added. That's attribution. I made no claim that I just wrote it out of the blue on my own. Additionally, I have removed the summary myself, since you claim you have deliberately included false statements (Which, by the way, would constitute vandalism). I suggest you drop the stick and move on, and spend some time reading Wikipedia policies that have been linked to you repeatedly before making further edits. -- ferret ( talk) 11:49, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I understand your question, and the answer is no, there is no means for you to have it be removed on those grounds. Once you submit content to Wikipedia, it is open for the world to edit. If Ferret's chooses to remove it, as he has, and no one opposes, then that is fine. In the future though: it is a requirement of writing on Wikipedia that other editors can and will alter your additions, which they can do for many valid reasons. If you are not okay with this, then that is another reason why Wikipedia is not the correct medium for your writing. (The first being that its not the place for your personal film critiques.) Sergecross73 msg me 12:53, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Sergecross, Ferret has not remove all my original work. I would appreciate if you could ask him to do so. I am sure you can see the difference between editing material as oppose to copying and claiming it your own. I imagine anyone can reserach and add what they want to the Wikipedia link. You are correct - it is not for me: which is why I would like it removed. I gather I can't do this at this stage, but Ferret or yourself can. I would appreciate your help if Ferret persists on claiming the work to be his own. Russell1960 ( talk) 22:21, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

I can't see this as a problem. I'm most of your duscussion are about what someone wants, not there own work removed. When thst is done, I'll be happy for you to do your work.
