Replaceable fair use File:Manny Pacquiao in 1996 (screenshot).jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Manny Pacquiao in 1996 (screenshot).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Majora ( talk) 04:01, 24 February 2017 (UTC) reply

Re: Manny Pacquiao Nicknames

Good Day!

I am leaving this message to clarify the deletion of the entries of Manny Pacquiao's nicknames on the Boxing career of Manny Pacquiao page. You have been deleting the same along with the references attached to it without giving a satisfactory explanation. That aside, I do not find any good reason why the entries should be deleted considering that the entries are backed up by legitimate references. That is why, I am asking you to stop deleting the same as the edit is disruptive and disruptive editing is against the policy of Wikipedia. Carry on with it, and I would have no choice but to report the matter to administrators.

Warmest regards. Gardo Versace ( talk) 15:13, 29 July 2019 (UTC) reply

Too many so-called nicknames

No need to put all those nicknames as they are just nicknames of him outside of boxing. His world-recognised, real nickname or alias in the ring is enough which is Pac-man. That's more than enough. I hope you understand that. Prettyboy361 ( talk) 01:21, 30 July 2019 (UTC) reply

Wikipedia is an ENCYCLOPEDIA

I do understand your point, but the Wikipedia is an an encyclopedia, a repository of knowledge, might seem superfluous but it"s not considering that's exactly the amount of knowledge that should go into the entry. As for your point on the ring nickname only, that's adequately addressed by putting in bold Pacman to denote that it is the one most widely used. Again, the entries being well-cited, there is no cogent reason for it to be deleted. Gardo Versace ( talk) 07:42, 30 July 2019 (UTC) reply

  • It appears to me that you are just trying to expand the contents of the infobox by adding too much details on it even though you have a reliable source. You know that Pacquiao was known also as a gambler, a womanizer or whatever he was known for in the past and we can find thousands of reliable sources in the internet for that. But should we really need to put all of those facts? Wikipedia is an encyclopedia but not supposed to be a collection of every single fact about a subject. Pacquiao is widely known as Pac-man in the ring not kid kulafo, mexecutioner, pambansang kamoa or whatever. Prettyboy361 ( talk) 12:23, 30 July 2019 (UTC) reply

The fact remains that he did carry those nicknames and the entries are well-cited. You are confusing irrelevant facts with relevant ones. Your example, although very dissimilar from the items I'm offering up for inclusion in the page, wouldn't go with the BOXING part of Manny Pacquiao's career. The nicknames, on the other hand, are relevant. You missed the part that Wikipedia is a repository of knowledge, hence as such repository, it should be included there. Also, let me reiterate the fact that J do concede that he is widely known as Pacman and the concession of putting it in bold letters sufficiently addresses that. Gardo Versace ( talk) 17:24, 30 July 2019 (UTC) reply

    • And still, putting all nicknames of Manny Pacquiao you can remember is totally unnecessary. Im not saying its bad its just unnecessary even though you reliably sourced it. Simpler infobox is much better than overly detailed one. But if you insist then we can keep all those nicknames no problem for me. You can also add his other nicknames "The fighting Senator", "MP", "The Mexican killer", "The living legend", "The old warrior", "8-Division Champ", "The legendary", "The ageless warrior. Best regards Prettyboy361 ( talk) 02:39, 31 July 2019 (UTC) reply

A tag has been placed on File:Errol Spence in training.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Based on the references currently included in the article, it cannot be determined whether this organization meets the most fundamental notability requirement for organizations - namely, that unconnected, reliable sources have written about it. We need news articles, papers, this kind of thing - in addition to the in-house sources (which are fine for documenting uncontroversial data, but NOT for establishing notability). Please provide at least two such sources before republishing. Cheers -- Elmidae ( talk · contribs) 23:21, 5 October 2019 (UTC) reply

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:International Boxing Research Organization, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Hello, Prettyboy361. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, " International Boxing Research Organization".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian ( talk) 03:21, 7 February 2021 (UTC) reply
