Hi I see you tied to revert my edit on the "Tire" article, ( /info/en/?search=Tire)where I removed this statement :

" Typically, studs are never used on heavier vehicles, except for some emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire trucks. Ice resurfacers also use studded tires."

For your information, this is wrong. It may be the case in North America, but in Scandinavia where I live and work as a truck driver stud tires for trucks are common. I could verify this by finding an ad for truck stud tires, but as I removed an (unverified), incorrect statement rather than adding one there is nothing to verify. Please make sure to make a proper background check before you revert my edits in the future. Thanks Rolling Phantom ( talk) 10:50, 8 October 2014 (UTC) reply

Quotes in MH17

MH 17 Preliminary report source(s) are wrong now

Your changes to Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 completely removed the source named "dsb1", and instead started using that name for a second source name "dsbprelim" regarding the preliminary report.

This is a mistake. The original "dsb1" source states when the report was released, while the original "dsbprelim" does not.

Please fix your incorrect merging of those two sources. When doing so please note the warning at the top of the page that includes Please edit carefully.

Warning messages and stuff

I usually do general vandalism patrol WP:RCP using wp:Huggle. You can see a (HG) automatically tacked onto the edit summary. Huggle puts up a diff and I can either skip it, revert with a warning, or go to my browser for further inspection. My wp:watch list is rather overloaded to add more items. If you are very concerned about a few articles, you can watch them and enable getting an email if the page is changed. Here is a lit of commonly used warning and messaging templates:

Avoid using "vandalism" if some other description is more valid, such as a wp:content dispute, editing test {{ uw-test1}}, etc. Typically, one adds the article it refers to (but not all the time) Example: {{subst:uw-vand3|User talk:PauloMSimoes}} Also, one typically increases the level for each recent warning. After a fifth time, report to wp:AIV. If the vandalism is rather nasty such as wp:blp violations, or extreme racial or sexual in nature, a more rapid escalation of levels is warranted. The warning level should reset after a few days. If one vandalizes up to the limit, waits for awhile and does it again, you can add {{subst: longterm4im}}

I'll let him have some fun ... . I want the sysops becoming aware of this situation. I'll wait a few days and then warn them. Regarding my job at Embraer, there were eleven years (retired in 1997) I worked in development tests laboratory for landing gear components and loved my activity. Thanks, Elinruby. User Akld guy got involved in some edits in article. PauloMSimoes ( talk) 23:54, 21 December 2016 (UTC) reply
Thank you. I made some edits to the Lede months ago to turn it into more acceptable English. I do not speak or understand Portuguese, but am very fluent in English, my native language. I'm not willing to get involved with the NPOV discussion because I have no comprehension whatsoever of the political situation in Brazil. I would be willing to put phrases into good English, but that would probably involve interpretation of legalese or the intention of the writer, and I might make very serious misinterpretations that would themselves be NPOV violations. Probably better that I stay away, unless you want to submit English text to me for rendering into normal English, and also include an explanation of what you're trying to say. Akld guy ( talk) 00:35, 22 December 2016 (UTC) reply
@ Akld guy: This is not that different from the reason I showed up, I am an English speaker with some knowledge of romance languages who cleans up machine translation. I appreciate your caution, as someone who has seen really important misunderstandings based on cognates, word order and bad machine translation -- but if we can improve the english that we can improve, and ask questions about the rest (?) we can do some good, I think. Caution is the key -- I have done this before. The alternative, to do nothing, is unacceptable. I came across Operation Car Wash in the course of working on the Panama Papers and know just a little about that but I am sure there are complexities beyond complexities, which is why it is important to have the good-faith participation of people like PauloMSimoes. Which we do seem to have. The NPOV discussion is not directed at any particular editor. My position is simply that she is the central figure in the article and yet we hear only brief one-sentence (and dismissive) summaries of her side of the events for which she was impeached. Clearly her point of view is important and should be included, attributed to her if necessary. I think what we have is a misunderstanding of WEIGHT -- prior editors did not believe her and therefore did not quote her. But the article is a BLP and she should have a say imho, regardless of the correctness of her statements. Anyway, I am just saying that the article could use the help Elinruby ( talk) 02:51, 22 December 2016 (UTC) reply
@ Elinruby: Ok. My only area of expertise on this article would be English sentence construction and grammar. I know nothing of the political situation in Brazil or the legal manoeuverings in the case. Akld guy ( talk) 03:03, 22 December 2016 (UTC) reply
@ Akld guy: I am there because it is listed in articles in need of cleanup. Just saying. Editors who do know the facts have asked for help with the english. If you are willing/have time then fix what you see or have time to fix, and skip what you do not understand. That alone would be helpful. as it would free me up a bit from the English mechanics, which is what I came there for, but is only one of the article's problems. Take it in small steps so people who want to can review your changes. This can be done even on very contentious articles. If you have time, it would really help.

Avoid using "vandalism" if some other description is more valid, such as a wp:content dispute, editing test {{ uw-test1}}, etc. Typically, one adds the article it refers to (but not all the time) Example: {{subst:uw-vand3|User talk:PauloMSimoes}} Also, one typically increases the level for each recent warning. After a fifth time, report to wp:AIV. If the vandalism is rather nasty such as wp:blp violations, or extreme racial or sexual in nature, a more rapid escalation of levels is warranted. The warning level should reset after a few days. If one vandalizes up to the limit, waits for awhile and does it again, you can add {{subst: longterm4im}}

For decorating your user page:

A bit of advice: (not saying you have!)

An engineer at Embraer? A good place to work? Did you enjoy it? I am an engineer in the biotech field. Cheers Jim1138 ( talk) 19:15, 18 January 2016 (UTC) reply

@ Jim1138: thanks for the explanation and excuse my poor knowledge of English. I have few issues and I think that not even need these tools. It would be a bit complicated for me (perhaps later). I'm afraid to make a mistake. The pages that I edit are all monitored and I am warned when there is any change. Right now, for example, the IP sock is reverting my most recent editions. I'll let him have some fun ... . I want the sysops becoming aware of this situation. I'll wait a few days and then warn them. Regarding my job at Embraer, there were eleven years (retired in 1997) I worked in development tests laboratory for landing gear components and loved my activity. Congratulations for your career in biotechnology. Cheers

LyondellBasell

I notice that an anon removed content to LyondellBasell here without an explanation. You appear to be familiar with the company. This was immediately before your edit. Should it be restored, and if so, would you please do it so I don't mess up what you have done? (a bit of a cop out, I know). BTW: you can wp:ping me by adding {{ ping|Jim1138}} to your reply here. You do need to sign your edit "~~~~" and save both the ping and your signature at the same time or I won't get the ping. Cheers Jim1138 ( talk) 19:34, 18 January 2016 (UTC) reply

@ Jim1138: it seems that issue was correct, per this source and this source. I currently have a small transport business and perform some services for the company here in Brazil.

The translation of this is rather bizarre. Lord Mota? Off the deep end? Cheers Jim1138 ( talk) 20:49, 20 January 2016 (UTC) reply

@ Jim1138: , isn't "Mr. Motorcycle", neither I... User "Lord Mota" is a sysop which discovered the socks of user "Transeunte da Wikipédia" (editor blocked, who is vandalizing as anom here). Cheers.

AIV

Please be aware that WP:AIV on the English Wikipedia is for reporting vandalism on the English Wikipedia only. If you have a concern about vandalism on the Commons, you need to report it to their administrators. Although complimentary, the two projects are distinct and have separate groups of administrators. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Impeachment process against Dilma Rousseff, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Simple majority. Hello, thank you for your Thank. I speak only English and it's possible I may have misinterpreted what the article was trying to say. I did my best to interpret only the English, so I may have got some subtle meanings wrong. Akld guy ( talk) 23:20, 2 September 2016 (UTC) reply

@ Akld guy: I really appreciate your fixes, is all correct. My knowledge of English is basic and I have a great difficulty in the editing. Hereafter, when I find out any question about English, I will ask you. And also, for any questions about the Portuguese in the sources, you can ask me. Yes OK. I don't plan to make any more changes (it's a big article), but you're welcome to ask me on my Talk page if you need help on the English version. Akld guy ( talk) 00:23, 3 September 2016 (UTC) reply

is there another editor who should be notified of the NPOV discussion? By the way, I like your user page. Elinruby ( talk) 22:29, 21 December 2016 (UTC) reply

ANI Experiences survey

Beginning on November 28, 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) will be conducting a survey to en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:
