Welcome

Hello, Rose State College, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{ helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Dch eagle 19:45, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Hello Rose State College. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Rose State College, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Teapot george Talk 19:45, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Username

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Rose State College) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.-- Dch eagle 19:54, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Rose logo image

The image that we have on file is allowed for use on the Rose page and only on that page there is no copyright violation. As for the image being out dated, If you have a new image then feel free to updated the image [File:RSCLogo2.jpg here]. I must also mention that any edit you make is a Conflict of interest as your username stats that you have some affirmation with the college.-- Dch eagle 20:33, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

The logo as displayed is *not* from the Rose State College Website and is a misuse and violation of our copyright. See: http://www.rose.edu/web-standards The logo must be changed in order to be correct. Also, the college is not, by law as stated in the body of the article, a "junior college". That must be stricken from the title.

Ive already giving you everything that you need to update the logo but its complete removal is not needed, No copyright violation is intended. If you have a new image and would like to replace the image that is used right now then feel free to upload the new file as replacement here. Also I would like to remind you that you have a Conflict of interest as it seems that you work for or have some affiliation with the College.-- Dch eagle 20:56, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

About the logo you uploaded to Commons…

What evidence is there that File:Rose State College logo.jpg is free for derivative use, including commercial reuse, as you claim in the upload information? — C.Fred ( talk) 22:25, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Hmmm. I'm not sure. I don't think it's for commercial use. However, it's also not accurate to use a different logo. Suggestions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rose State College ( talkcontribs)
Delete the logo from Commons and re-upload it onto the English Wikipedia as a non-free, fair-use image. Commons allows free images only. — C.Fred ( talk) 22:29, 30 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{ unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Request reason:

This policy is being misused! The information about the college was inaccurate and needed to be corrected. It is *not* a "conflict of interest" unless remuneration is exchanged for an action based on one's efforts. This action on your part is in bad faith. You assume that I'm corrupt because I want accurate information. The information? I uploaded the correct logo and changed the description from "Junior" college--which it hasn't been for 20 years. Further, the enrollment figures are 20 years old. *They* need to be changed too. If you can't fix these things, then you just perpetuate the negative image of Wikipedia as unreliable. Please unblock me. Rose State College ( talk) 15:44, 31 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Decline reason:

You have not addressed the issue behind your block. You were blocked because your user name suggests that you are editing on behalf of the college. You are welcome to choose another user name, but this one cannot be used. either way ( talk) 15:56, 31 August 2011 (UTC) reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{ unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • The only reason for your block is your username. In my opinion, your edits were all improvements to the article. (If they weren't, I'd have blocked you myself.) If you make a new unblock request and indicate what new username you would like, I will unblock you so that you can request a change of username. — C.Fred ( talk) 16:02, 31 August 2011 (UTC) reply

Thank you C.Fred. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding of the name. Could I request a name change of "Raiderdude?" I think that would suffice. Rose State College ( talk)

It looks like that account name is already in use; it wouldn't be a simple change of username, but a more complex request. — C.Fred ( talk) 16:15, 31 August 2011 (UTC) reply
