Punctuation

Hello. I just wanted to let you know I have just undone a couple of edits you made (for instance here) which introduced unnatural punctuation. Sentences don't read nicely when they are so much broken up with unnecessary commas. Thanks. RobertGtalk 16:09, 21 February 2024 (UTC) reply

External links and commons category

I notice that you have been adding {{ commons category}} to many articles. Recent example: [1]. There are several issues with this particular edit:

  1. The article already had an "External links" section, so there is no need to - and generally you should not - add a second section with the same name. (Per MOS:SECTIONHEAD, section headings should be unique within a page.)
  2. Per Template:Commons category § Location the template should be placed at the top of the last existing section on the page - there's no need to add a new section just for the template. (But if you absolutely must, which I don't advise, the template should float left, not right.)
  3. If you do add a new section, it should be before the navigation templates, not after, per MOS:APPENDIX.
  4. If the Commons category name is the same as the Wikipedia article name, there's no need to include it in the template. Eg on Jeffrey Ashby, {{ commons category}} would work just as well as {{ commons category|Jeffrey Ashby}}. This doesn't actually matter, but it might make it quicker/easier to add the template in many cases.

Not all of the above items apply to all of your recent edits, but many do.

Please read the relevant MOS sections (linked above) before making any more similar additions to articles. Also please consider going back and fixing the articles that you've already made these additions to.

Good evening, thank you very much for the useful information. Maryam AlAkini ( talk) 19:21, 5 March 2024 (UTC) reply
You don't seem to be getting it. At James L. Alcorn, you created an "external links" section (in the wrong place) just to add a Commons template. The template "should be placed at the top of the last section on the page", per Template:Commons category. Could you please go back and fix these. Thanks. And I see you've made this error on hundreds of articles. Magnolia677 ( talk) 18:48, 17 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Good evening, you mean template

Good day. Maryam AlAkini ( talk) 19:26, 17 March 2024 (UTC) reply
You've been putting the template in the wrong place. It should be placed "at the top of the last section on the page". However, you have been creating an "external links" section just for the template. Could you please fix all these? Or self-revert until you figure out what you are doing. Thank you. I want to know where the mistakes are, can you explain more? Maryam AlAkini ( talk) 19:53, 17 March 2024 (UTC) reply
The mistakes are on every article where you have done what I just described above. I even put a link to the template where you can find more information. If you don't understand how to use the template, you probably shouldn't be making these edits. Magnolia677 ( talk) 21:47, 17 March 2024 (UTC) reply
Yes, the generalities are gone, and the amendments are being made to all the articles that I created tomorrow, God willing. Thank you for your good intentions. Have a nice day. Maryam AlAkini ( talk) 22:04, 17 March 2024 (UTC) reply
You have also added Commons categories to articles that have no photos on the Commons. Why? Magnolia677 ( talk) 10:26, 18 March 2024 (UTC) reply
The reason is because the data file has a large area and contains extensive data, because the people are American politicians and have businesses and have related files on Commons, so when I put the Wikidata Infobox link, it is unique along the pivot axis. Have a nice day. Maryam AlAkini ( talk) 19:58, 18 March 2024 (UTC) reply
