There is a site, https://www.alamy.com/, that sells images. They have for sale this image:
It's a painting of Mount Washington by Benjamin Champney that I uploaded to Wikipedia Commons. Isn't this a violation of policy to sell an image that's in the public domain?

- Hi John, That's discouraging, isn't it? I found your file on Wikimedia Commons, and sure enough, it's listed as being in the public domain. You'll want to get some more opinions than mine on this. Mine is that since it's public domain, anyone is free to do what they want with the photo, include charge others to get a copy from them. Buyer beware, unfortunately. We have this question come up regularly with regard to publicly available geography data. But as I said, check with some other people as well. Because you had previously shown interest and I believe you have an interest in the history of the Concord area, would you please make it clearer which name you prefer. I'm strongly against the article name Concord coach but if you hold the balance I think you should be the one to make the decision.
