Technical news

• Unregistered editors using the mobile website are now able to receive notices to indicate they have talk page messages. The notice looks similar to what is already present on desktop, and will be displayed on when viewing any page except mainspace and when editing any page. ( T284642)
• The limit on the number of emails a user can send per day has been made global instead of per-wiki to help prevent abuse. ( T293866)

• Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee Elections is open until 23:59, 06 December 2021 (UTC).
• The already authorized standard discretionary sanctions for all pages relating to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), broadly construed, have been made permanent.

Hi Justiyaya, I hope I am using the talk page correctly - if not, please correct me so I know for next time! I'm sorry - I have never been this involved with wikipedia before and I really appreciate your patience. In regards to editing The Orion Experience page: I don't think I fit into the COI categories, but you and another editor both suggested I should post my proposed changes on the talk page of the wiki instead. What is the process for that? And what happens after I post suggested changes? I have tried researching this on my own, of course, but as you aptly said - this process is quite discouraging and confusing!

I appreciate you being understanding as I navigate this. I really just thought I had valuable information to add to a (pretty barren) wikipedia page about a band that I like. After I noticed that it said "This article is a stub. You can help Wikipedia by expanding it" - I thought I would try to help. I didn't think I had any sort of COI concerns, I'm not trying to cause you any trouble!

Hi Kelbrindle, thanks for leaving a message here, if you don't fit into any of the COI categories then I don't think you need to use the talk page propose changes. An expansion of the article would be greatly appreciated, and is definitely needed, however, there is a significant lack of coverage in reliable sources (see WP:WikiProject Albums/Sources and WP:RS) regarding the band (by that I mean I can't find any with a cursory search), and as such, it is hard to expand the article without violating some of our policies, specifically this section in our verifiability policy. You definitely can help Wikipedia by expanding or writing new articles, but The Orion Experience lacks sources to expand with. Try looking for another article to expand, what other artists do you like? (also it's best to add a header to a discussion like this) Just i yaya 06:07, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Revert at first, but if they are persistently disruptive or making obvious vandalism attempts a report at one of the noticeboards will be more productive than trying to out edit or revert a disruptive editor. Sideswipe9th ( talk) 02:38, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

It probably was. Though I hadn't seen that you reported to AIV when I made the AN3 report, or when I gave you the advice above. From the looks of how the AN3 report was handled, it's possible admins saw it on both noticeboards simultaneously. Either way, that editor is now indefinitely blocked so hopefully the vandalism will stop. Sideswipe9th ( talk) 02:45, 13 December 2021 (UTC)

• Justiyaya Reference 1 is good and clear. Reference 2 *just* makes it in for notability. The third reference, alack, is a mention and not a whole lot more. One more reliable source will get you the notability you seek. Go well! -- Whiteguru ( talk) 01:22, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

  Justiyaya When one sees the same photographs and the same text on multiple sources, the conclusion is that a press release has been circulated to various agencies and news outlets.
