Information icon Hello, I'm Asparagusus. An edit that you recently made to William Joseph Snelling seemed to be a test and has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 17:05, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

HI. What is going on. All of my edits have disappeared. Did you do this? Joe Gillens ( talk) 17:09, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply
Hello @ Joe Gillens. So sorry about that. I meant to just revert the edit where you seemed to add a test, but I rollbacked it instead, which means that I reverted all of your edits to that article. Apologies, I just got this permission and haven't figured it out completely. I reverted myself. Please continue to make edits to that article! —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 17:11, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to William Joseph Snelling. Thank you. Broc ( talk) 17:22, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Hi. I have references for everything and hope to get all the references up in the next day or two. But many if not most references are up! What is "controversial"? Joe Gillens ( talk) 19:26, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply
I just looked. I found exactly ONE unreferenced item, and it was so uncontroversial that I cannot imagine what your problem was. Joe Gillens ( talk) 19:31, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Information icon Section headings: Please don't use markup like <big>'''Return to Boston (1847-1848)'''</big>. Instead, please use == or === to mark the various levels of sections as described at WP:BADHEAD. This way, the software will take care of formatting the headings, building a table of contents, providing an "anchor" so Wikilinks can point to a particular section, and readers' accessibility software can handle the section in a way most appropriate for them. Thanks for the tip! and the help! Joe Gillens ( talk) 19:28, 27 February 2024 (UTC) reply

Information icon Section headings again: There is a Manual of Style for Wikipedia editing. You will see at MOS:SECTIONCAPS that "sentence caps" are used for section headers, that is all letters are in lowercase, except the first one and the first letter of proper nouns. All-caps is strongly discouraged. Thanks. signed, Willondon ( talk) 15:50, 2 March 2024 (UTC) reply
