Heh, sorry about that. [1] Still getting the hang of things. I'll make a note about what text will get to an article via the Wiki search rather than pulling directly from the web address. I may do more tweaking to the Les Misérables links though... still working to find solid supporting info, but apparently her career deals with both the musical and the "concert" versions.-- Emtigereyes ( talk) 19:23, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

"Former" actors on CSI

User:78.151.37.167 is changing CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's cast list and removing the section about leaving all cast members in, regardless of status. I am afraid to revert, as I could be accused of edit warring. Several IPs have done this lately, but I cannot find a close enough pattern to determine socking. Do you want to deal with this? They haven't edited enough to report to AIV. Thank you for your help. Trista (User Triste Tierra - cannot log in at work) 24.176.191.234 ( talk) 00:18, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I suspect a sock

User Hotel5500 seems to be the same person as Hotel36000, Hotel1800 and a couple of other similar names - and the second two have been blocked. Hotel5500 threated a person with blockage after removal of uncited material at Cold Case episodes and has put up some speculative edits. I ask that you look at this a bit, before I go forward with a sock/checkuser request - as I've never done it before and don't want to wrongly accuse someone of being a sock if I'm wrong. Please let me know when you can...I know you are busy fighting the vandals. Please know I'm trying to help in that. Thank you! An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Origin (Evanescence album). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and " What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Origin (Evanescence album). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. -- Erwin85Bot ( talk) 01:09, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Need admin-edit to CountryAbbr2

27-March-10: I have a rewrite for high-use template {{ CountryAbbr2}}, which needs to be installed but no one is active. It's Saturday, that template has 68,000 transclusions, and should be updated on a weekend. While Convert is used 4x more (286,111 times), CountryAbbr2 has been spawning 300-560 (sub)templates, per use (no kidding!), compared to Convert's typical 23 subtemplates per use. See counts in database report:

The edit-protected request is in Template_talk:CountryAbbr (bottom of that page). Note the update is for 2nd module "...Abbr2" (not "...Abbr" which invokes Abbr2). - Wikid77 ( talk) 22:06, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Ready to update Rnd to bypass Rnd/a

04-April-2010: This is just an FYI that Template:Rnd is ready to update to bypass the small subtemplate {Rnd/a} and reduce Convert nesting by 1 more level, against the template-nesting limit. This change should affect nearly 307,000 pages, and drop 307,000 wikilinks to {Rnd/a}, which will become almost unused. See counts in database report:

The full talk-page topics are in Template_talk:Rnd:

Those topics describe the issue & examples. I will activate the admin-edit request in a few hours. -Wikid77 16:43, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Thread at VPM about Webcitation.org bot, and about Wikimedia creating its own archive service

Hi there,

I'm reaching out to people who I see have been previously been active in threads related to Webcitation.org.

I started the above-mentioned thread at VPM, which

1) asks how things are going with the webcitation.org bot (because i think it's SUCH A COOL idea), and
2) inquires whether WikiMedia should create its own archiving service, to avoid the risks of relying on another organization's services (e.g., the downtimes experienced now).

I hope you'll take a look. user:Agradman editing as 160.39.221.164 ( talk) 06:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

After several days of snarky comments on his talk page, Wiki Historian N OH came back today to the Marysville, Ohio page and continued his WP:OWNing of the page. Templates were removed, sections deleted, just all around BS. I reverted and warned the user with a Warn4IM template as his edits were clearly disruptive. Since you have posted on his talk page, I thought I would bring this to your attention and ask what should be done. This is clearly an editor who isn't responding to requests to comment on his talk page and feels that he OWNs the Marysville, Ohio page and has no problem with his disruptive edits. - NeutralHomerTalk • 21:33, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey Huntster. I certainly agree that this book is not worthy of inclusion. College categories

When you parent a category the contents should all be appropriate for the parents. Once you get up to the children of Category:Eponymous categories like Category:Categories named after universities and colleges, they are generally not going to have any other parents. The categories are best covered in the main articles. As an example, people have nothing to do with the accrediting associations so that is not a valid parent. Same goes for conferences and the like. If I removed a category by accident that should have been left, then you can restore it, but I suspect this will be a very small number. Vegaswikian ( talk) 00:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, I suggest that you look at Category:Eponymous categories and see how this is in most areas. I'll also note that in a few cases, we have different categories used in the article and the category that basically fit into different places in the category tree. This problem is avoided when the categories are located in one logical place. Vegaswikian ( talk) 00:39, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
You asked, and if most/all non-meta categories were moved into the article, it would make the categorisation system completely pointless. Why do that? Why would including articles in all appropriate categories be pointless? The goal is correct categorization. Including articles into parent categories that are not appropriate for all of the included articles is confusing and incorrect. Correctness and accuracy is what we should be striving for.
