Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, nor is trolling or other disruptive behavior ever tolerated. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{ unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} on your user talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

I am not sure what is wrong with my username. I have had it for a few years without a problem. I made sure to doublecheck the username policy and didn't find anything that it would infringe. The ban reason is unclear as well. It just says my username is bad and that I have been banned indefinitely. Please clear this up for me.

Accept reason:

I've talked with the blocking admin, and this was apparently a misunderstanding due to some technical issues. I've unblocked your account, but I strongly suggest you change your username. Thanks, Mark Arsten ( talk) 19:11, 12 November 2013 (UTC) reply

You're not banned - you're blocked. Banned is a different thing. I agree that .exe isn't mentioned as such in the policy, but it does make you look more like a program (or potential virus...) rather than an editor. I suppose Anna thinks it counts as a confusing name. I'll ping User:Anna Frodesiak to see if there's more to it than meets my eye. You have been around since 2008 with a clean record. Peridon ( talk) 15:49, 12 November 2013 (UTC) reply
Thank you. In case my username has to be changed, I am fine with htmlcoderexe, I use it anywhere where periods aren't allowed. I also noticed my userpage was removed with the reason "disruptive code", can you ask User:Anna Frodesiak what that means and maybe restore it so I can fix whatever was causing the problem? I assume it has something to do with the Unicode characters. Although, that page hasn't been edited in a long time, either. HTMLCODER.exe ( talk) 16:42, 12 November 2013 (UTC) reply
July. Whatever that was you did, I don't think it worked. We have had some people coming on and posting pages of code, which tends to make some of us jittery. Mind you, so does some of what the Foundation people do.... Peridon ( talk) 16:52, 12 November 2013 (UTC) reply
HTMLCODER, can you change your username? A number of users complained that they are having issues communicated with you to your user talk page because of some Wikimedia glitch. It involves the .exe which makes some systems believe its some kind of code. That is why you are blocked I believe and we can't unblock until you get your name changed. I blocked the account.

I also deleted your userpage. When I was at that page, I clicked the talk tab, and it brought me to an IP. That, and the fact that the userpage age had "troll" or something like it made me think the problem was there was some bad code on the page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:31, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

It turns out that there's nothing wrong with your userpage. It's the "exe" in your name that's probably causing the problem. I didn't know that at the time and decided that deleting your userpage was a good safety measure. Another admin can undeleted it if you wish. My apologies for any misunderstanding. I would like you to know, however, that given the same set of circumstances, I would do the same again. :)

Oh, and when I go to your talk page, the url is an IP, then a whole bunch of strange numbers and upper case letters, and then en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:HTMLCODER.exe. The page appears like a wikipedia page but the font is really small and everything is strange, and it's says I'm not logged in.

It needs contributors to increase diversity of content from different countries and bring about large scale improvements. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. -- Ser Amantio di Nicolao Che dicono a Signa? Lo dicono a Signa. 09:04, 6 November 2016 (UTC) reply
