Hi, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! I wanted to draw your attention to this edit correcting your error. There are others on parish articles. Please understand that "it's" is a contraction of "it is". Whenever it's is used, substitution of "it is" should make sense. The word "its" is a possessive denoting ownership as in "its head" or "its thoughts".

Actually, it's should almost never be used as stated in the manual of style: "Missing letters are replaced by an apostrophe in multiple-word contractions. Hi, I have just reverted your edits to Skegness which converted the "Notable people" section from prose into a list. Wikipedia:WikiProject UK geography/How to write about settlements#Notable people states that "Prose is preferred ... More developed articles, especially those which have gone through WP:GA and WP:FA, tend to have this section written out as prose." I am in the middle of overhauling other parts of the page at the minute. — Noswall59 ( talk) 13:23, 3 July 2020 (UTC).

I disagree with this Noswall59, the notable people section looks truly awful, plus it includes many non notables. There should be a seperate wikipage: list of people from Skegness. I do intend to come back and do a copyedit of the whole article once I've finished improving the various sections; the whole thing is too long. However, that's easiest to do once the content is all there in the first place; I'll look to trim back the notable people section if I can justify removing material. By my count, you have broken the three-revert rule there today, which is a bright-line "don't do that" rule. I certainly understand your motivation, but removing advertising is not one of the exceptions to the three-revert rule. Strictly speaking, violating 3RR should result in you getting blocked for a day or two, but I'm exercising my discretion as an admin and giving you a warning instead - please make yourself aware of the three-revert rule and do not break it again. In the future, if you have problems with a conflict-of-interest editor puffing up a page they wrote, I encourage you to post a message to the conflict-of-interest noticeboard to get outside opinions on the matter (and if other editors agree that whatever is being added shouldn't be added, then there are other people reverting other than you). Hi! I'm working on the Stan VanderWerf page and wanted to make sure it meets the requirements for Wikipedia. I'm relatively new in contributing to Wikipedia and my interest is in learning how to create good living biography pages. I have worked on medical related pages before this. I hope to create more biographies that can help people find factual information about significant people who are contributing to the community at large. I would greatly appreciate any tips you can give!

I noticed that some of the verbiage used is considered promotional, which I'm adjusting now. I've been reading the guidelines closely and I'm working to make sure that I meet those guidelines in the articles I create.

Currently, I'm working on citations for this page and noticed that there were some problems with local citations. It seems that I need to find more prominent, recognized articles which I'm looking for. I'm also working on links to authoritative websites referencing positions Mr. VanderWerf held and accomplishments.

Mr. VanderWerf is a highly decorated veteran. I'm working now to place his military decorations into the article as factual support.

I would appreciate any tips you can give me to better this article. I'm using other living biographies like /info/en/?search=Tom_Cotton as guides to creating a good biography page.

Is there anything specifically I can be working on to help this page? Your expert opinion is very helpful!

Why did you revert my edit to one with KSE. You put abbreviation but no other railway article has anything like that in them. So what makes Kirkby Stephen East special? KSE is more initials which have no place on the article. If I started adding MANVIC - Manchester Victoria, SHEFVIC - Sheffield Victoria, BAT - Batley, BRUMNST - Birmingham New Street or COV - Coventry. They'd be reverted. Hello, is there anyway to prevent the reordering of the parameters in references using this tool as the edits you make cause problems with the diffs and make it difficult to see what the actual edit is. Ideally the tool should only touch references that it makes an actual change in the detail while leaving parameters in the original order so that uses viewing the differences can see what is being changed. Hi Devokewater. Thanks for your edits. I did want to draw your attention to MOS:LEAD which offers a guideline for the introductory section of a page. Because an ideal introductory section summarizes the entire page, it is to be expected that the introduction may repeat content in the body of the page that it is summarizing. "The lead section should briefly summarize the most important points covered in an article in such a way that it can stand on its own as a concise version of the article." Not sure if you are aware but Port of Barrow is the port article for the town and has the category:Ports and harbours of Cumbria. Generally the articles about the locality don't hold the Ports and harbours in ... categories. Instead they use category:Port cities and towns of .... categories. In the UK that seems to be based on 'regions' whereas the other cat is delineated by county. The Barrow-in-Furness article really shouldn't have any Ports and Harbours cats when there is a separate article for the port in the town. Fob.schools ( talk) 15:26, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi. I regularly close debates at Articles for deletion and I'm concerned by some of your arguments. For example, I relisted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Larimer because "non notable, PR" doesn't tell me anything other than a vague opinion, a similar thing happened at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Khosla Ventures where you just said "not notable", and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/XCore Architecture went with other arguments instead of "per non, technical manual" (we have articles on notable technical manuals including Inside Macintosh, The C Programming Language and Programming Perl). Because of this, I've had to discard and ignore your comments for the purposes of consensus. The best thing to do is either explain search for sources you have attempted, or explain why sources in the article are unsuitable, or otherwise give a reason why improving the article cannot happen or it is otherwise unsuitable for a general purpose encyclopedia. Hi Devokewater, good work on Ulverston. I'm just wondering about the 'civil parish' stuff. The excellent book reference (I've not seen that before) suggests the town and the parish are separate entities, and I guess that would make sense. Perhaps this point, if you agree with it, could be worked into the article? At the moment, the reader would take the parish to be the same as the town. What do you think? I wonder if you might help me with a question. I recently decided to do some work on the Ross Kolby article. This is an artist I like and I have read one of his books. So I inserted some information about one of the novels, added two new headings about his paintings, inserted a reference (to an article about this painting at the Norwegian National Broadcaster NRK). I really got inspired and spent almost three hours working.

A few minutes after I had published the last of my 27 various edits I got a message from a user called Materialscientist notifying me that he had reversed my edits. Just like that he undid all my work and 27 edits. He told me I had inserted a reference that was not reliable, and told me I could write to him if I had questions. I have now written to him twice and asked what reference he is talking about, and if he really could not accept any of all my edits. I said I appreciated his watching the article, but that I found it a bit discouraging to see all my work removed minutes after I had finished. I really tried to improve the article.

So my question is: who is to decide what edits that will stay or not? Who has the final word of how many headings or what photos to insert in an article? I thought Wikipedia was about sharing knowledge within the rules of Wikipedia. A reference must be right, of course. But I cannot spend three hours on an article just to see all my work removed by another user without explanation. Materialscientist has not answered my two messages, so I now wonder if he will immediately remove any new edit I suggest on Ross Kolby? Or another article he monitors?

Could you advice me on how to handle this? I only wish to be professional and polite, but I am left a little irritated by this undoing of my edits that were bringing clarity to the text as well as citing a National Broadcaster. Best regards, EditNor ( talk) 22:37, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

With regards to my editing, I do mainly minor edits on companies + places (i.e. tidying up) there are many editors on Wikipedia who are vastly more experienced + capable then I am, the best place to find these editors is in the Wikipedia:Teahouse. Materialscientist ( talk) is an administrator (they have a lot of power on Wikipedia, but they must be fair) who spends a lot of time reverting vandalism, if you disagree with his/her, highlight why you disagree with him/her on his/her talk page or on the articles talk page. So, what we want to create is a base where active or aspiring traders, content writers, investors, and generally financial enthusiasts will share their knowledge and experience, discuss investment opportunities, analyze news etc., all for the purpose of wikinvesting becoming the biggest financial knowledge “open source” base. I am not sure if you are familiar with the recent case of GameStop where gaming enthusiasts gather around the GameStop via reddit forum and prevented the hedge funds from sinking it down. They were basically our inspiration to starting this project.

I would love to share more information about this project with you and also discuss future potential opportunities, hence if you are interested, please let me know so we can continue this on our slack channel.

Apart from the edit being borderline of WP:SYNTHESIS, during the period of the edit there were numerous SPA’s editors (some were subsequently banned) with a climate change agenda, vigorously editing “spamming” the wikipages of energy companies. Well, that's true to some extent. Unless they are minor or no in-depth independent coverage about them exists in sources. That's why the articles about this princess's brother and sister as well as her cousins were previously deleted, because based on our criteria they are not notable enough to have standalone articles. I noticed you are part of the Freemasonry wiki project and I presume you are male? and probably know better than I do about Freemasonry, I’ve been fascinated about them all my life and eagerly want to know what they do behind closed doors but I live in Nigeria and that’s probably next to impossible for a woman (you can’t identify as Agender In Nigeria) however I have a couple of questions, have you come across the female occultist by the name of Helena Blavatsky ? if yes, was she a Freemason? If yes, how? what did she do exceptionally? and can it be replicated (perhaps I can follow in her footsteps, don’t laugh) but seriously I thought women weren’t allowed into Freemasonry, I’m aware of both ”The order of the Eastern Star” and ”The order of Women Freemasons” (which Imo i believe are mere consolation “prices”) but this source (It doesn’t appear to be all that reliable though) expressly mentions her as a “real Freemason”, that is, she was part of an actual conventional “men only” blue lodge. Furthermore, it appears under the English rites the third degree (Master Mason) is the highest degree attainable but the Scottish rites have up to the 33rd degree(Sovereign grand commander) of which they claim to be highest attainable degree (which is largely accepted as the truth, (Dan Brown and Albert Pike confirm this) The Egyptian rites which I believe was called “spurious” by Albert Pike [2] had 99 degrees(Grand Hierophant) If I’m researching properly about Freemasonry I presume it was dissolved because people paid to obtain higher degrees, I’m not so sure, although Bill Schnoebelen says he was a 90th degree Mason, the veracity of his claims are often over looked or laughed at, I mean, he claimed to be an “ex vampire” thus no one takes him seriously, he further mentioned that in actuality there were actually 360 degrees. Forgive the digression, the real question here is, is it possible for women to join the real blue Freemasons lodge? or was Helena Blavatsky just an anomaly? Hi Celestina007 ( talk) I have never come across Helena Blavatsky however there are women if Freemasonry, they are not part of UGLE however there have been recent photos of David Staples with women Freemasons, you may find this useful: The Order of Women Freemasons and HFAF – Freemasonry for Women. Regarding Bill Schnoebelen there appears to be no evidence that he was part of mainstream Freemasonry, there are a few Youtube that debunk all of his claims. Within UGLE the highest rank is third degree, however if you join the Scottish Rite known colloquially as the "Rose Croix" it's possible to become a 33 degree mason, the "Rose Croix" is not recognised by the UGLE however their no no bar preventing a member from joining, see the book called "What's next?" by Ron Selby. -- Devokewater ^(talk) 21:55, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

I'm curious to know how you became aware of the anecdote that I added to the Talk page on Garsdale railway station on November 9. About 90 minutes after I did so, you removed it. Is there some automatic process that alerts people to articles they're interested in? Also, what about documentation of an anecdote? It was over fifty years ago that I heard it while on holiday nearby, and I wonder if there's somewhere else in Wikipedia where such anecdotal material can be stored. As things are, there's only my word for it, and my recollection of what I heard is not necessarily verbatim (suspect in my mind are the words 'built it', which might have been 'wanted it' or something else). Is it preferable that this anecdote be gone from the collective memory? I'm sure there are plenty of anecdotes that would indeed be better gone. You'll note that I didn't go ahead and put the anecdote in the actual article. This is a difficult one, whilst I found your article very interesting the talk page is not the place for such articles. The talk page is used for discussing changes etc on the main article. On the talk page, though, perhaps in years to come, maybe many, someone would know of such a source. I've recently been in communication by email with people who knew the late David Bracken ^[1], who is something of a local hero in Garsdale. Hence my current interest, which dates from events from fifty years ago. I made a compilation Word document with those emails. I might ask one of the three or four people who responded, though I suspect they too would know the anecdote but not a published source.

It is interesting that you use the moniker Devokewater. Over fifty years ago some friends hiked all over the Lake District, staying in youth hostels. I saw the tarn on the OS map and attempted to walk across to it, only to find myself sinking to my thighs in boggy ground. Perhaps you live in the River Duddon valley or Eskdale, which we were going between. I'm curious to know, though I'll understand if you're not comfortable with personal information.

It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three.
