Notice

The article Got the morbs has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a dictionary.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot ( talk) 10:00, 18 December 2022 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Acadia: A New Orleans Bistro

I'm confused, is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Acadia: A New Orleans Bistro closed or not? --- Another Believer ( Talk) 17:46, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

  • No, it's not. Bruxton, you should have known better, and if you wasted your time removing all the AfD notices, you'll just have to undo that yourself. E Eng 17:55, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
The discussion is going nowhere. The close is reasonable IMO and you can use the del review if you think it is not. Bruxton ( talk) 17:58, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
@ Another Believer: I have re-closed the nominations without prejudice against renomination. We were never going to get to a consensus with multiple AfDs bundled. Bruxton ( talk) 18:11, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
Non-admin closers of deletion discussions should not close discussons with a finding of no consensus, should not close discussions early, and should not perform procedural closes either. The probable outcome would have been that the AfD is split and relisted, and this does not involve a prior finding of no consensus. A procedural close is simply procedural, it isn't about consensus or lack thereof. I don't have any negative feelings about your close, I understand your motivation, but the close isn't normal, and wasn't necessary; it isn't so easy to predict the outcome of a deletion review coming out of this. I think it's more expedient that you undo the close entirely. If the AfD is split -- great; if EEng's proposal is taken up (no AfD) -- fine. Sincerely — Alalch E. 18:16, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
There doesn't appear to be anything at WP:NACD that prohibits non-admins from closing discussions early or carrying out procedural closes. Arguing over this close feels pointless as that discussion was clearly not going anywhere. Garuda3 ( talk) 18:23, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
( edit conflict) Thanks for the message Alalch. If I need to be trouted at DRV or an administrator backs out the close, I understand. Bruxton ( talk) 18:24, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
Garuda3, there's an essay which from my recollection is typically upheld, please see WP:NACAFD. — Alalch E. 18:27, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
To add: A typical good NAC is simply a keep of an old AfD when there is an overwhelming consensus to keep. This situation is the polar opposite of that. There are few opportunities for good NACs when deletion is concerned. — Alalch E. 18:29, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I am more skeptical of essays generally vs guidelines though you may be right that it is widely upheld, I don't know. That being said I've closed discussions early in the past and don't remember there being pushback. Garuda3 ( talk) 18:32, 20 December 2022 (UTC)

Hey there! I noticed that you linked Culver City, California, in my hook on Measure VY. I should say that I omitted that link on purpose – it's pretty easy to get from context that Culver City is a city in California, and there's not any context in that article that helps the reader understand Measure VY.
