Actually there are plenty of gay Roman Catholics -- haven't you been listening to the scandals of the Church?? No offense intended, if you took any, but the scandals were pretty prominent in the news, but there are millions of gay Catholics, which isn't surprising at all since there are about a billion Catholics to begin with.

I'm a huge Soft Machine fan...and think Mike Ratledge in particular was just amazing - I also liked Karl Jenkins, unlike a lot of people. I've seen all the stuff you've done on the Softs on here...excellent work...as far as my pointing to Third specifically...it's in part because the album...unlike any other Softs record...was in print for approximately 15 years in the U.S....when nearly all the rest of their catalogue was gone in a few years. And third has been pointed to for years as "the" Soft Machine recording, although of course others like certain records more. But the sales longevity of Third is undeniable...I was an import and cut-out buyer for a major U.S. record chain in the 1970's and tracked all of this stuff...and always had an eye on Third in particular. Third also provides a good tie in to Bitches Brew, etc. Thanks again for all your great Softs work - I've run across a Hendrix/Softs pic I'd never seen before the past few weeks and want to see if I can get it on here somewhere...killer shot. well, I have never had anything against Jenkins, back when we listened to Six after it's LP release here in Germany, I didn't even notice the band had changed personnel, it was just that weirdishly fascinating jazzish Soft Machine. The focus in the Jazz fusion albums list is on fusion, and I think the Softs' Jenkins era matches that subject extremely well. I am a huge Wyatt admirer, too, and listening to Volume Two very loud is something everyone should do at least once a month ;) I never try to value between Bundles and the others, it's unique in my view, on some days I find it awful, so I only listen to it on those other days when it just rips me from my seat ... FYI, I see you have been having to deal with User:Timmy12 on their tagging spree claiming everything is uncited, etc on Soft Machine and Holdsworth stuff. For what reasons they have an interest I have no idea, beyond the fact there's a connection to Gong, and Gilli Smyth, and pagan music therefrom, which this person seems to have some concern about. There is now a major discussion on this person, who vandalized an article I'd done, at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, if you have anything you want to contribute. I find the debate on the incidents page a bit confusing ... anyway, I took the tagging as an insightful teaching to care for references (which actually improve articles in my view); and now that I have finally learned how to add them inside text using <ref> and </ref>, I use them more often. I don't know them at all (and thus don't care much), but the article says: In the early to mid 90s they were more of a jazz/rock instrumental band, but since 1999 they have developed more into the Smooth Jazz genre. If that is correct, they deserve to be mentioned under fusion IMHO - even if they have changed since. In my view, "fusion" is not a clearly defined genre, is it. ... I noticed an error on the listing for the Sweet Smoke Live CD. It was not a two track LP. It had three. In addition, a new release of the CD came out in 2000 that featured most of the original live concert and had an additional three tracks. I have adjusted the track listing somewhat, but I have a question there: my impression is that the tracks on the LP B side were listed "as one" with a slash like "Shadout Mapes/Ocean Of Fears" and a play time (18:02) that enclosed both of them, correct? If that is correct, I think that the article intro (and the new track listing format) covers that adequately in "The last track is actually two songs that the band fused together". I'm sitting here with the original LP in front of me and I think I see what happened. The LP had First Jam on Side 1, and the other two cuts on Side 2. However, EMI edited the two Side 2 pieces together. At 11:30 into "Shadout Mapes/Ocean of Fears," during the applause for Shadout Mapes, EMI spliced in Ocean of Fears, actually cutting out a tiny bit of the piece in the process (probably for time constraints). They wanted to make the listener think that this was a continuous recording of the live event without edits. When the first CD of Live came out, it had the same configuration as the LP. When the six track re-issue came out in 2000, EMI remastered the entire concert, doing the same kind of editing between tracks, but this time, in part because of digital technology, they made six separate tracks with no pauses between and all listed with their times. So I guess you could say that Side 2 is "two tracks that the EMI studio engineers fused together. The tracks were later listed separately when three additional tracks were added to the 2000 CD re-release." Sorry for the lengthy explanation! Rasadeva 21:13, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Do you know how to fix that? The title does not seem editable...

Hello there, I am a fellow member of Wikiproject jazz. I was wondering, if you had a moment to spare, if you would be willing to give your opinion on a matter at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 June 15 concerning a category I created. The category is [[Category:Jazz musicians of New Orleans]], and it has been proposed that the article be merged with Musicians of New Orleans and American jazz musicians. This is precisely why I created the category, because it seemed to me the birthplace of jazz music and continous modern symbol of jazz certainly deserves a category unto itself. Hi. I see a "WPBiography|musician-work-group=yes|..." template was added to the Talk:Toshiko Akiyoshi – Lew Tabackin Big Band page. I am not familiar with this category / template but is it meant to be used for group / orchestra articles as well as for individual musicians? The article in question is about the big band founded by the musicians Toshiko Akiyoshi and Lew Tabackin. Each of the two principal musicians also has their own separate wikipedia articles so I didn't think the band's article also would be categorized as a "musician biography". This was done as a part of WikiProject Musicians, an attempt to build a comprehensive and detailed biographical guide to musicians and musical groups on Wikipedia, which is trying to classify articles according to the project's quality scale. Please see the quality scale and the WikiProject Council Assessment FAQ for more information. Many thanks for taking the time to rate Andy's page, it's much appreciated. I'm not sure it should be rated as low as a start class though I would have guessed at a B, but as the article's creator I'm obviously biased. Already (on the band's forum) a long-time fan and acquaintance of Billups has stated after seeing the article that he didn't know 90% of what was in it. This leads me to the point of this message. How on earth do I get/earn a higher rating for this article. I've pretty much drained Billups of info over the phone and by email. The article does not list any references/sources nor external links. References are almost a must on Wikipedia, especially in biographical articles about living persons, see e.g. Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability#Sources - so adding references would certainly be a good start. Beyond that, maybe ask on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians that people post suggestions for improving the article on Talk:Andy Billups, where you should perhaps first start a section like ==Improving this article==, in which you ask for such suggestions, too. Thank you for rating the Earthstar page. Since then I've significantly expanded the article thanks to a copy of Dennis Rea's book Live At The Forbidden City, which means the article now has a print reference rather than just web sites. I've also been able to confirm some of the things I've found on the web with Dennis Rea so I felt more comfortable adding them. Earthstar is highly regarded and Klaus Schulze's involvement guaranteed them a significant following and record sales. Some of the musicians (especially Dennis Rea) have gone on to bigger and better things (yes, an article is coming). The fact is that they only existed for six years and only four (out of a possible six) albums were ever released. There really isn't any more information that is verifiable and a longer article just isn't justified. I think the article may now be up to at least Class B and I would appreciate if you could look at it again and see if you agree. I also would like your suggestions on any improvements you think are still needed.

Nope. It was not assessed as 'Start' by me before, but by someone else, see: [1]. Before that, it was assessed as stub, again by someone else, see: [2]. And I still consider it start class.
