We at the Simpsons WikiProject have managed to get into contact with the one and only Bill Oakley (who showran The Simpsons from season 7 to 8) and he has agreed to send us some images and to do an IRC chat in the future with us so that we can ask questions about things that we can use in articles. The transcript of this chat will hopefully be posted at NoHomers.net, which I think will be a good enough sorce. Failing that, we'll try The Simpsons Archive. Every member is more than welcome to take part, which will be held at our #wpsimpsons channel. Because not everyone will be able to make the chat, a page has been made where any member can post questions that can be asked. Remember, no fan questions, and due to a lack of time, try to limit it to ones that will help improve an article. That page is here. If you have any questions, ask myself, Xihix (who is the one in contact with him) or post it at WT:DOH, which is where any future updates will be posted. -- Scorpion 0422 02:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Hello Adolphus79...Would you be interested in helping with an article/list about the fictional places of the works of the Eddings that I am currently writing in my user space? I really don't know what to do with it, but if you were willing to help me with it, that would be great! If no one thinks it is worth it, I will just get rid of it. Pop on over if you want. - LA @ 06:31, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Earlier you reverted a change to the August page. In fact the change was correct. The page clearly states Augustus did not steal the days from February. If you read through the given link you will find out the page does in fact state Sacrobosco's theory regarding the months length was proven wrong (see below).
edit: no offense though :)
The Julian reform set the lengths of the months to their modern values. However, a 13th century scholar, Sacrobosco, proposed a different explanation for the lengths of Julian months which is still widely repeated but is certainly wrong.

Not really. But it feels like proper process to inform someone when it seems like there's even a chance that they legitimately don't understand, rather than that they're simply being deliberately disruptive or beligerant. Not to say they can't be both, of course. If they make any effort to communicate on the issue, I think it's best to explain WHY what they're doing is wrong, not just tell them that it IS wrong. I'm not trying to say you've not done that or anything. I mean, the speedy deletion warning template explains it pretty clearly. - Vianello ( talk) 06:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Please be careful in applying G1 (patent nonsense) to an article. This tag should only be used for articles that contain a load of gibberish (random strings of characters, etc.). I came across the deletion of Quinton Catheter (which you patrolled and tagged for deletion) while checking broken redirects (here, quinton catheter). I see... I wasn't done with it, I definitely was not aware that I had to put all my third-party sources on my first edit, this is also my first article, and all this coding takes me a while, I'm not used to it. I did that, but it still got taken out. I have more sources, I had posted 4, from newsweek, NY times, etc. Please, put it back up, i will work on it this whole week, and have it ready. Thank you. As per the usurp policy, we do not usurp accounts that have made edits. In case of a troll account, usurping the account is not needed. Troll accounts are created everyday, and the best solution is to let them be. If I approve such an usurpation, it would set a precedence where every person who has a troll account sets up a request for the usurpation of all those accounts. This would clog the pages, leaving those with genuine cases behind. In addition, bureaucrats are not too keen to create dormant doppelgänger accounts. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:26, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
I saw your recent post, and would encourage you to email a checkuser with the details. Include a link to the above SSP case, and as much detail on the new accounts involving personal details. They'll be able to handle it without revealing personal information on-site, and can block the underlying IP addresses. - auburnpilot talk 18:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

After looking over your contributions, it is apparent that while you have done nothing bad, your contributions have not made a significant difference. Most of your edits seem to be small and largely irrelevant tweaks or exclamations of internet memes. While this may be a good way for you to occupy your free time, of which you clearly have a great deal, it would be helpful if you were to take your contributions to another level.
The most beneficial way for you to do this would be to do some original research: I noticed you haven't done much by way of improving stubs and this is an area in which wikipedia could really use your help. Wikipedia doesn't need so many vandal hunters, bored teenagers with nothing helpful to contribute, or edit-count chasers. A number of your posts reflect that you are especially cogent and articulate, and as this is the case I hope that you will turn your energies towards helping to improve Wikipedia by improving existing articles, especially with respect to stubs.

Adolpus, Eastmain is perfectly right that anyone (except the author) can remove speedy tags. I did it for a long time before I became an admin, and, in fact, I think its good training for adminship. What's your opinion on adding semi-protection for this page? I have already asked the administrator ( User:Georgewilliamherbert) that added semi-protection last time but so far he hasn't replied. The report I filed was declined but I don't agree with the assessment - I find that the user judged the case as too weak when in reality it is a problem that occurs multiple times almost every day, in fact it has come to the point where we can predict and expect it to happen. What do you think?
Here's the link: Requests for page protection ----- Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 16:09, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi, the summary you wrote for the coat of arms was well written, actually it's more detailed than some of the other summaries I saw. The templates used in the article are also fine, and welcome to WikiProject Micronations. Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 21:01, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm aware of the slab of content which I copied from the blog. Given the complex legal argument, and timeline that it describes, it's easier to keep it in WP for a day or so, while I rewrite the relevant section based upon what it says. It's certainly not intended to remain in the article for any length of time. Unfortunately WP had a very well written article on this exact subject, but it was deleted as a consequence of an AfD 2 years ago, so we're now having to recreate it from scratch. -- Gene_poole ( talk) 18:43, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Dominion of British West Florida, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the
criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please
see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{
hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on
the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. PERSONAL NOTE: I like reading about micronations, and the article is well-done, but I'd be a huge hypocrite if I didn't move to have this deleted. Sorry. Hey adolphus, just got online here, but I won't be around very long. Just took a look at your RFA per your request. Ouch. Yours is a prime example (I'm sure you've seen others) when an early oppose, and a logically sound one by a hugely respected admin (DGG), sets the stage for a draw, which of course means "unsuccessful". He (DGG) makes valid points, and others have strongly agreed with them to the point of lining up underneath his, right or wrong doesn't matter as you know, it is what it is. If I go and edit the RFA (I probably won't), I would be a strong support (you easily meet my criteria. Right now, you are hovering around 63% +/- 5% at any given moment, and it's statisically highly unlikely that it will be a successful RFA at this point (you would need to go at least 20-1 support/oppose from here out to pull it off.) Keeping in mind that there will always be those that will continue to add, in this case, 'per DGG' at a regular clip, it might be best to simply withdraw it gracefully, thank DGG for his insights (no one else really had their own insights other than to quit smoking apparently), and go about enjoying Wikipedia. This I imagine will not be a consolation, but adminning sucks the life and fun out of Wikipedia-ing. I believe that to the extent that I refuse to nominate anyone anymore. I haven't used an admin button in over a month. Not worth the grief. I rarely log in, mostly I do quiet content editing as an IP, gnomish stuff that I really enjoy. Like a "first love" kinda thing. I actually wish I'd never gone thru rfa, I was blissfully ignorant of the majority of the political crap around here. This is a far better place for editors that care about the content if they don't have the extra buttons/burdens. See: Orangemarlin, SandyGeorgia, Malleus Fatuorum, ElCobbola for just a few of the myriad of editors that get by just fine without the buttons. That said, if adminning is what you really want beyond just the curiousity (that's what got me, I was insanely curious what blocking someone would "feel" like, and there was some deleted content I wanted to have access to again), then do what DGG et all suggest, lay low, get involved in areas that start with "Wikipedia:" and "Wikipedia talk:", and go back for RFA 2. Keep in mind though, that you will have an extremely hard time quitting smoking as an admin. Wikipedia isn't supposed to be stressful, I try my best to keep my talkpage light, but every once and awhile, I wonder what the hell I'm using my free time volunteering for after I see some of the vulgarity and vitriol flung at admins. I'm using some free time for this site, but not nearly as much, and anonymously (too many TPS-ers :-). Keep your chin up, consider withdrawing, and go back to what you really like doing here with a healthy respect for your narrow escape :-) Cheers, Keeper ǀ 76 02:34, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Just dropping you a line: I've closed your RfA. Unfortunately, there wasn't consensus for your promotion (though, looking over your talk page, this wasn't a surprise). You're a good candidate; now just isn't your time.
Here's hoping that I'll be leaving you a very different post-RfA message in a few months. :)

Sorry about the outcome. Personally, I thought, you had turned the comer. Given another day, the outcome could have been different. With regards to the pile on votes, after DGG’s opinion, welcome to RFA. However, regarding DGG’s opinion, he is an extremely well respected editor and Administrator, and again personally, I take his advice to heart. Next time, you should be a shoo-in. Do not take this one too personally, but view it as a learning experience. . ShoesssS Talk 01:09, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
I would like to thank everyone who participated in my RfA. Specifically, I would like to thank Bibliomaniac15 for coaching and nominating me; and Xenocidic, who wanted to co-nom me, and had supported me for a while even before the RfA. Thank you also to the rest of you who supported me.
I also want to thank those who opposed. Thanks to DGG's advice, I have already started working on a number of articles that I created. A number of the other opposes had some great advice, and I hope to use it all in the future. I received some very well thought out reviews, and now know in what areas I am lacking.
I might run for admin again in the future, but for now, maybe I don't need the tools to do what I do here on Wikipedia. I enjoy what I do here, and wonder if more responsibility would make that better or worse? I don't plan on changing the way I use the Wiki, except trying to give a little more detailed answers at XfD, and maybe actually speaking up on AIV, ANI, AfD, etc., instead of just reading. - Adolphus79 ( talk) 01:14, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Please see Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Speedy_deletion, which states: "Anyone except a page's creator may contest the speedy deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page." In the case of Adnan Koucher, he is vice-chancellor of a university, and the article now includes a newspaper article about him and the title of a book he wrote. -- Eastmain ( talk) 23:35, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Adolpus, Eastmain is perfectly right that anyone (except the author) can remove speedy tags. I did it for a long time before I became an admin, and, in fact, I think its good training for adminship. Only thing is that when an admin does it, it is less like to be protested, so when I do it now I say I'm an admin in the edit summary. DGG ( talk) 16:35, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

What's your opinion on adding semi-protection for this page? I have already asked the administrator ( User:Georgewilliamherbert) that added semi-protection last time but so far he hasn't replied. It would help seeing as IP addresses and newly created accounts constantly attempt to use this article for advertising their new micronations. Would you support semi-protection for this page? Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 14:53, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

I had a large part in helping and giving Chancellor Kenshin the sights through email but they were not created by only one person. Do not jump to conclusions. A tag has been placed on Dominion of British West Florida, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the
criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please
see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{
hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on
the article's talk page explaining your position.
Sorry. I stumbled upon the "Barista Coffee (India)" article and noticed that you've proposed in for deletion on account of non-notability. But as somebody has already mentioned on the article's talk page, just a Google search for "barista india" should rest your fears about its notability. It is one of the largest cafe chains in India. I am not sure if your concerns have anything to do with the newly created page for Barista coffee Taiwan. I thought it was better to get your viewpoint first rather than just removing the proposed deletion tag. Raj712 ( talk) 04:54, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
