Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:WL-West.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Spamguy 17:14, 6 November 2007 (UTC) reply

  • Sorry, but you're not the copyright holder of the Rebecca West pic, and you don't have the authority to release it into public domain. Ownership is held by Wyndham Lewis' estate, or possibly some library that owns his stuff. Your only two options here are a) to contact the owner (probably cited in the book you referenced) and ask permission, and b) remove the picture.

Sorry. Marvellous pic though. :) Spamguy 16:55, 7 November 2007 (UTC) reply

As far as I know, copyright has lapsed; the copy I own is a 1st edition, and the work certainly hasn't been in print for a long time. As it is simply illustrating text, its inclusion could be justified as giving a 'taster' of the book without diminishing any incentive to purchase. But the image has been deleted now, so who cares... Orphaned non-free media (Image:WL-West.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:WL-West.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:32, 12 November 2007 (UTC) reply

Notice of proposed deletion

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Stubbs Society, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{ hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
