The issue is not whether or not speedying an article is biting the newbie, the issue is whether a {{hangon}} request should be honored or not. In this case, the article's author properly tagged the page and requested what needed to be done to make it acceptable. I was in the process of letting him know, when literally within a few minutes, I had the talk page pulled from beneath my feet. I restored the page, only to have it redeleted. No matter how you slice it, this is bad manners, not only toward him, but toward me. I don't dispute the speedy nomination - this page was a clear candidate - but I believe that a reasonable request should be accommodated. I wouldn't be surprised if the author has a very bad taste in his mouth about his experience with Wikipedia - he was certainly not treated with respect. D e nni talk 02:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi again. I'm trying to track down the tag that protects a deleted page from recreation. There is a persistent author whose article is basically "we just started a band but we're not sure when we're going to start playing", clearly to me a cut-and-dried situation. Thanks for your help. D e nni talk 18:29, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I have noticed that you often provide only a very short abbreviated deletion summary when you delete pages (like "a7" "nn-bio" and similar). Please keep in mind that most users do not know all of Wikipedia's speedy deletion criteria by heart. Please consider providing a brief "plain English" explanation without relying exclusively on "CSD jargon". Additionally linking to the relevant criteria so people can read it in full can also be useful, for example [[WP:CSD#A7]]
. This will help a "layperson" better understand why something was deleted when looking at the
deletion log.
Most browsers have a autocomplete or other "form filling" features that allow pre-prepared boil plate texts to be inserted into web forms with just a few keystrokes. This is useful for inserting detailed deletion summaries without having to type out the same things over and over. Please consider looking into it. Thanks. -- Sherool (talk) 17:33, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.
We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.
The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.
If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Editorial
The lateness of this edition is due to me being on an wikibreak and no-one taking up the slack. My wikibreak was the result of a lightning strike damaging my internet connection and frying my router, and the time taken for the replacement to arrive. As this issue is almost 3 weeks later than planned, only the monthly cyclone activity for November has been included. The next letter will be produced for January 7, 2006 and will be larger than normal to cover both month's Wikipedia news and December's tropical activity. There will be no Member or Storm of the month in January, to reduce the length; and the newsletter will return to normal in February.-- Nilf anion ( talk) 21:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
