Hi, the issue of VK as a reliable source is likely to have ramifications beyond the Alexandra Elbakyan article, so I've started a thread on the RS noticeboard. You can follow and contribute to it if you like: Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#vk.com.
As you know, I don't believe it to be a reliable source, at least for unverified accounts like the one being cited; but if the consensus is that it is, I'm alright with leaving it.
By the way, under WP:BRD and other guidelines, as the proponent of a challenged change, it's really your role to seek consensus for the addition of a disputed edit; it is not the responsibility of the editor who is seeking to put the article back to the status quo while that's being resolved. That being said, I expect some consensus will emerge on the noticeboard soon enough, so I'm not going to get all that worried about an unreliable statistic staying in the article temporarily, and I'm generally allergic to edit-wars in any case; but it's something you should keep in mind in the future.
