Hello! Tell me please, is it possible to include your bot in Russian Wikipedia? And if you can do it, then we have two questions:)
Thanks! Iniquity ( talk) 23:55, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Here a new user called 1731kt posts and forgets to sign. Immediately thereafter, SineBot signs their post, but with an incorrect name (signing as "Jazzilisterwiki", a non-registered username). WP:CHU has no "Jazzilisterwiki" in the archives, so this looks like a mistake... Or am I missing something? Tigraan Click here to contact me 20:25, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi,
I am looking into some financial variations (not to do with wiki) and I was hoping you could give me 10 mins of your time to explain to me what may or may not be achievable for BOTS at our current level of technology or coding (language). I am not in the field of coding or anything of that sort but would be interested to know what could or could not be achieved with our current understanding. If you could contact me the questions that I have I would rather speak to you on a one to one basis if possible.
Thanks

Hello Slakr, I was unfortunately banned by you some months ago, however I have only not been able to make contributions while I am at school, whereas anywhere else I can edit.
I was wondering if this is because of not something I have done, but rather a ban on a specific IP network.
Please let me know what you think, and I ask if you would be able to unban me if this is the case.
Cheers,

Hello. I moved a misplaced comment from a subpage onto the main talk page. This triggered SineBot to helpfully add my signature to the comment. However, the comment was already fully signed, albeit in two pieces: the user had appended their linked username and user talk page, and then someone--actually, SineBot himself!--placed a {{ undated}} template after it for a timestamp. Shouldn't SineBot figure this out? I didn't write any of the comment myself, so it was a good thing I went back and checked the edit or I would've been credited with the whole thing. 2600:8800:1880:91E:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 ( talk) 19:35, 17 June 2018 (UTC)

Not sure if this is important or not. This signature should have been LnZ3VpVeWh$Fs ( talk · contribs). Instead SignBot signed Plaasjapie ( talk · contribs), which is not registered. I don't have any Plaasjapie signatures on my talk page except for that one which I fixed to LnZ3VpVeWh$Fs. Not sure what happened. I haven't seen that before. Thanks for maintaining the 'bot! Hello,
You are receiving this message because you are a top user of Special:Block on this wiki. Thank you for the important work that you do. There is a discussion happening about plans to improve Special:Block with the ability to set new types of blocks. To get the best design and new functions added, it is essential that administrators who use the tool join the discussion and share their opinions about these changes.
Instead of a full site wide block, administrators would be able to set a Partial Block. A user could be blocked from a single page, multiple pages, one or more namespaces, from uploading files, etc. There are several different ways to add this feature to Special:Block. Right now Important decisions are being made about the design and function.
Please review the page on Meta and share your feedback on the discussion page. Or you can reach me by email Also, share this message with anyone else who might be interested in participating in the discussion.
I appreciate any time that you can give to assist with making improvements to this feature. Cheers, SPoore (WMF) (talk) , Trust and Safety Specialist, Community health initiative ( talk) 01:47, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello, Slakr. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery ( talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

How long does it usually take for sine-bot to detect and auto-sign an unsigned comment? Can the times vary and by how much? Thanks - wolf 05:32, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
There's already a delay of about a minute or so on most pages eligible for signing., but for the pages listed on User:SineBot/HighPriority there isn't a delay. Galobtter ( pingó mió) 06:04, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
[4] was probably being used by a troll on the reference desks. They were putting in loads of questions copying questions from reddit each one with a different ip. Suggested at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Request_for_semi-protection that Procsee was probably the appropriate boot to have a look at it. Dmcq ( talk) 18:20, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
SineBot is too quick to sign comments which are clearly vandalism. In this example, SineBot waited less than one minute to sign vandalism. It is much harder for recent changes patrollers to revert vandalism when SineBot has made the last change.– Gilliam ( talk) 18:12, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
Hi Slakr. This has been raised at Sinebot's talk page already, but I thought I'd mention it here, too. When Sinebot does its job and signs an IP post, it has the unintended effect of preventing rollback. Thus when an LTA uses IPs to hit a number of talk pages (as is currently happening), admins and oversighters are seriously hobbled in their ability to respond. Is it technically possible to introduce a delay of a few minutes between the unsigned edit and the bot-added signature? This would allow quick vandalism patrol to step in before that happened. Best, Vanamonde ( talk) 04:42, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

07:31, 30 November 2018 (UTC)I was in favor of this as well, but I think the other filters recently put in place have done a good job of limiting the attacks and we've been largely quiet on this front for a day or so, so maybe it's not so urgent at the moment? ~ Amory ( u • t • c) 13:35, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
I saw a whole lot of rubbish being deleted on the reference desks again today and tried the first two ips I saw in quotes to google "95.141.132.138" 178.213.0.207" and again it comes up that proxy list server list and lots of others with both of them in it. If some automatic proxy list banner that worked with those lists and enabled or disabled those separate from any list in Wikipedia it would save a lot of bother. [11] I forgot to sign, a moment later, I tweaked my comment, and the bot didn't do anything. Is this probably a case of the editing being complicated that the bot isn't sure what to do, or is it a genuine mistake? No big deal, of course; if this weren't the case, and if it weren't down for maintenance, I thought you might want to know. Nyttend ( talk) 00:13, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
You operate user:ProcseeBot which blocks Wikimedia user accounts which are editing from a proxy and contrary to our rules on doing this.
I am a coordinator in meta:University of Virginia/Machine learning to predict Wikimedia user blocks, a research project examining past blocks and seeking to predict accounts which are not blocked but might need one.
In looking at recent blocks, something has changed in ProcseeBot's recent behavior in that it has begun to issue many more blocks than it did in the past. I am writing to ask for more information.
Thanks for any response you can give.

Hi. I was wondering if it was possible to enable SineBot on a specific page to sign user's comments, even if in general the user's comments aren't signed? Like on my talk pages, I have repeatedly ( [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17]) signed other users' comments for them, so that I could use WP:REPLYLINK to ping them. Is there something I can do to have all edits to my talk page signed, irrespective of if the user is too experienced to have the comments signed by default? Administrators
must secure their accounts
The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.
|
This message was sent to all administrators following a recent motion. Thank you for your attention. For the Arbitration Committee, Cameron11598 02:44, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, - Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

I left a note on the talk page of the user but he has removed it so I am leaving it here instead. What I wrote in response to your suggestion that he agree to a one year topic ban is as follows:
I really think that is a bad idea. The sockmaster here had two separate accounts (NoCal100 and Canadian Monkey) indefinitely banned from the Arab-Israeli topic area in the Judea/Samaria vs West Bank arbitration case and has been socking around those bans since, yes that is over ten years and upwards of 40 accounts doing nothing but evading that ban. Im not even sure that an admin can downgrade that indefinite topic ban to a single year anyway. Beyond that, the user has repeatedly used his socks to harass other users, see for example Bad Dryer's actions with Malik Shabazz and Nishidani (I can pull the ANI archive links if youd like), and that sock, Bad Dryer, is currently community banned per this AN unblocking discussion which found a well established consensus for his indefinite blocking. And that was even before he was determined to be a ban-evading sockpuppet.

Hi Slakr, thank you for closing the RfC about the MEK targeting civilians in the lede. I have a question about your closing remarks: Since there aren't any sources that conclude that the MEK targeted civilians, and since "analyzing sources and arriving at conclusions is usually not the job of the lead", then should such a major and yet uncertain claim be mentioned in the lede of the article? The body of the article allows for space to discuss this in better detail, but since there isn't a definite conclusion about whether the MEK targeted civilians or not, wouldn't putting this in the lede cause more problems than solve them? I've unblocked this range today, per a concern I received from an editor offwiki. Hi Kurt, Sorry for taking your time by asking these 3 questions, but I really need help to figure out my next steps. It is my first time writing something touchy here in English wiki and as my first attempt, it turned out to be not that great. So here are my questions and I appreciate your help in advance:
1- I have proposed a lead for the article suicide methods in its talking page and a user helped me create a discussion here in wiki's med project to gain users' attention to take part in the discussion. Now my question is what could be my next steps if not enough users take part in the discussion? Does that meant that I have to hold back on my idea and leave the discussion or is there any other steps I can take if I still feel my point is right or if the discussion does not reach an agreement? Because what has happened now is that I believe the neutrality of the article is violated greatly. The article should be about suicide methods, but some users have put information about suicide prevention methods in it at the beginning. My point is that suicide prevention already has its own independent article and if they want, they can even create an article about suicide prevention methods.
2- A user in the talk page is using unfriendly and disrespectful language by calling people "under-informed". I kindly suggested the user that such language can violate Wikipedia:civility and is unfriendly. Now my question is if the user continues addressing people like this, what could be my next steps? Is informing an admin like you enough or should I create an incident report in the administrator's noticeboard?
3- I also feel that the user, by using vague and ambiguous language, tries to disrespect my nationality and events happening in my country of origin. Now, this latter is very difficult to prove as the user is using indirect language and I want to assume good faith, but I have some strong evidence that the user is doing this. My question is what can/should I do in these situations, where the person indirectly bashes me but because he/she uses indirect and vague language, it makes it hard to prove and he/she can easily get away without hearing an answer. Now, I'm not saying that it's that important to always answer in these situations, but because this has happened to me so many times after my immigration, it really bothers me sitting quiet and saying nothing. I can use their method and answer indirectly with vague language, but that's not how my personality is. I prefer brave and yet, polite, direct and front talking. So, knowing your answer not only helps me here in wiki, but also in my personal life. What would you personally do in these situations?
Please ping me so I can read your answer. Sorry if it is too much and thanks in advance. Poorya0014 ( talk) 05:54, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

As an experienced editor, I occasionally forget to sign. Just as frequently, I do re-factoring or other edits that should NOT be signed by a bot.
It would be nice if sinebot had an opt-in "notify only" feature where it would put a note on my talk page, email me, use the "ping" mechanism, update a page of my choosing in my userspace which is presumably on my watchlist, or otherwise remind me that I forgot to sign a particular edit. If it was intentional, no harm done. If it was unintentional, then I would be thankful for the reminder to go back and sign it. davidwr/( talk)/( contribs) 02:34, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

As a new editor I often forget to sign comments in talk pages, but I am also aware enough of this problem and I do rare enough edits to remember to sign them before other comments and usually at most a couple of hours later. I sometimes edited again to add the signature before other comment, recently even by replacing the bot's signature when they were faster than me, which didn't seem like a best practice. I believe I will still forget to sign comments a lot in the future and was wondering what is the best course of action when you realize you forgot to sign or to prevent this from happening. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Personuser ( talk • contribs) 05:38, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi,
I am looking into some financial variations (not to do with wiki) and I was hoping you could give me 10 mins of your time to explain to me what may or may not be achievable for BOTS at our current level of technology or coding (language). I am not in the field of coding or anything of that sort but would be interested to know what could or could not be achieved with our current understanding. If you could contact me the questions that I have I would rather speak to you on a one to one basis if possible.

Hello,
You are receiving this message because you are a top user of Special:Block on this wiki.

Thanks for any response you can give.

must secure their accounts
|

From what I can tell, it was owned by a webhosting company at one time, but isn't anymore - and is now owned by a british ISP. If you believe that it is still a webhost, please re-block it, and drop me a line. I hope you don't mind - it appears that you're more or less inactive these days. Hi Slakr, hope you're well :)
SineBot (

not edited in five days, and the number of unsigned comments on my talk page is showing it
Any idea what's up with it?

Hi, and thanks for the bot. Please consider linking Wikipedian in the first sentence to give the page further exposure to mainly new editors. Thanks! (tempted not to sign this note, but will) Randy Kryn ( talk) 23:57, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

I've re-created Todd Fitch; he's now been hired as an interim head coach and would definitely pass GNG, if he didn't already in 2011. I agree that the original deletion was valid :). Best, Mackensen (talk) 20:33, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
