Your username

Hello user, I would like to inform you of the following part of the Wikipedia username policy.

Your username matches that of a group represented on the web at http://shakespeareauthorship.org and your only contributions seem to be on the Shakespeare authorship question-article. You should consider registering under a new personal "nickname" and contributing to more topics within Wikipedia. This will help you gain experience with Wikipedia and will ultimately make you a better author. Focusing on one topic and especially a topic that you are personally very involved with can be very difficult challenging. If you have any question, I will be happy to try and answer them for you. -- TheDJ ( talkcontribs) 00:19, 20 May 2008 (UTC) reply

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. A contribution you made to Marlovian theory appears to carry a non-neutral point of view, and your edit may have been changed or reverted to correct the problem. Please remember to observe our core policies. Thank you. Please don't delete properly referenced material from Wikipedia. Xover ( talk) 07:37, 16 July 2008 (UTC) reply

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Shakespeare authorship question, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles, as you did to Shakespeare authorship question. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a " soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Xover ( talk) 19:22, 6 August 2008 (UTC) reply

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Shakespeare authorship question. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. Xover ( talk) 08:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC) reply

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Shakespeare authorship question, you will be blocked from editing. This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.

Please engage in discussion on the article talk page!

Hi Shakespeare Authorship Roundtable,

On the off chance that you think the previous messages on here have been automated warnings and that such can be safely ignored: Hi! This is an actual human being writing here! :-)

The edits you keep making to Shakespeare authorship question are problematic for several reasons, and have consistently been reverted by other editors. This is a sign that you need to come to the article's Talk page to discuss these edits. If you just keep pushing for your preferred version and refusing to engage in discussion we'll pretty much have no other recourse than to ask for administrator intervention for disruptive edits. Please engage in discussion and try to get consensus for these edits!

The problems with your edits are mainly that they fail to adhere to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy by changing the article from what was the previous consensus (which isn't wrong per se, but needs discussion and a new consensus before changing the article), and self promotion by editing the description for a web site you're directly involved with (judging by your user name). None of these problems are insurmountable, but you do need to engage other editors in discussion and consenus building rather than just insisting on your preferred version. I'm particularly concerned that you some times delete material from the page with no explanation for the removal in the edit summary, much less prior discussion on the Talk page.

I'd be happy to try to answer any questions you may have, and I'm watching your user talk page so you can respond here or on my user Talk page at your preference. -- Xover ( talk) 09:31, 17 August 2008 (UTC) reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{ unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.
