Hi Schzmo - "Unlike other pines, the leaves snap cleanly when bent" - unfortunately, not true! I've snapped many a Pinus nigra needle proving this (surprisingly widely claimed!) character isn't as useful as the books say - MPF 28 June 2005 22:54 (UTC)
Hi Schzmo - saw you'd added a couple of these: they're actually an ancient hangover from before Categories existed and are pretty much redundant now, I was actually thinking of getting rid of all of them (they used to be at Larch and Fir as well, but someone else removed them a while back). So I thought I'd better ask you your thoughts before I remove any! Removing of them (or at least giving them ;headers rather than ==headers==) will also have the advantage of reducing the number of headers to 3 thereby getting rid of the TOC box - MPF 21:31, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi Schzmo - Was going to ask if you wanted to add {{User conifers}} but saw you'd already added it :-) It's proving more popular than I expected! (can't see all your userboxes properly, there's something amiss with the formatting, maybe trying to cram in four per line?).
All the best for 2006! - MPF 15:58, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi, You deleted an entry I made into Boxborough concerning its history. As a long time resident of this town, I was very angry. I happen to own a book concerning the history of this small town. The supposed "dubious content" was absolutely true!

Hi Schzmo - yep, there's a fair few inconsistencies there! I'd like to get all the oaks capitalised (for consistency with all the rest of the Fagales, which are all at caps), but it's a project I'm doing very slowly and cautiously as there's some folk around who don't like caps and would raise a howl if I did it all at once. I'm also slowly moving them from Category:Oaks (which I think is over-categorisation) to Category:Fagaceae|Oak, Xxxx. But go ahead and do any you want, it'll look better if there's more than one working on it! - MPF 00:51, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for accidentally reverting your revert of vandalism. I think we hit revert with the popups tool at the same time and you got to it first, and mine reverted your revert. :-) -- BWD ( talk) 22:24, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi Schzmo - depends a bit on the degree of dispute; there's no real such thing as a single most accurate source for species; different researchers will always have different, so it is best to check what several sources say. Species that are fairly widely accepted with only a few dissenting voices, give them a page, while those where there are fewer who accept, discuss them as a paragraph under the page of the species in which they tend to get synonymised with (see e.g. Juniperus deltoides under Juniperus oxycedrus). Check up on what trends there are in recent literature (if you have access to it!) to see which way opinions are going (e.g. Pinus washoensis, widely regarded a valid species until about 10 years ago, is now largely dismissed as an inconsequential variant of P. ponderosa; conversely, recent authors are increasingly accepting a larger number of pinyon species). Or try to judge for yourself which opinion appears the more realistic. I guess the other option is to leave them until later and hope subsequent research gives a better idea; there's plenty of non-contentious species with no pages yet! Did you have any particular names in mind? - MPF 22:19, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks so much for voting! Thanks so much for voting on my
request for adminship. I have decided to withdraw my nomination as it seems that consensus will not be reached. If you voted in support, thanks for putting your trust in me to be a good admin. If you voted in opposition, thank you as well for your criticism as it will only help me be a better Wikipedian and perhaps help if/when I apply for adminship again sometime in the future.

Welcome, Schzmo/Archive 1, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee, JoanneB, Titoxd and FireFox. The April elections have begun.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, please see the IRC Tutorial, which was written by one of our members. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

Hi Schzmo - I'll check up on it, but it shouldn't have been redirected to the family; if it is synonymous with Smilax, then it should be redirected there, not to the family. Hi. In conjunction with my RfA (that you voted on), I have created an editor review, to give people a chance to comment as to ways in which I can branch out or alter my contributions to Wikipedia. An RfA seems to solely focus on how one's temperment and contributions relate to how they might handle administrative powers (and the consensus on that seems to be that I'm not quite ready); the editor review opens things up a little more to a larger focus, and I'd love to hear community feedback in the sense of that larger focus, too. If you feel you've already expressed yourself sufficiently when casting your vote, then by all means don't worry about it, but if any thoughts come to mind or if you'd like to expound upon any suggestions or commentary, it would be appreciated. In any case, I appreciated you taking the time to express your opinion on my RfA, and I thank you for that. — WCityMike ( talk • contribs) 19:55, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
