A tag has been placed on Noerr Incorporated - Now and Then requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{ hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. WikiDan61 ChatMe! The article Noerr Incorporated - Now and Then has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Also, see WP:COPYRIGHT. NawlinWiki ( talk) 13:52, 15 September 2009 (UTC) reply

A tag has been placed on Noerr Incorporated - Now and Then requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope that I don't seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: It is the same as a company name of an article which you have attempted to create.. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your views, for instance, your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

There are several options available to you:

  • We can talk about it, here.
  • You can abandon the contributions made under this name and create a new account that meets our username policy and addresses the concern(s) noted above.
  • Or, if you want to keep your contributions history under a new name, then you should visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the instructions there.

If we can't resolve this on our own, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process. Thanks. Basket of Puppies 14:51, 15 September 2009 (UTC) reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding spam links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

If you do intend to make contributions that are in line with Wikipedia's policies, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{ unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information. Cirt ( talk) 17:04, 15 September 2009 (UTC) reply

{{ unblock|Noerr is my last name, and hence my username. The reason for the article submission is not for advertising - the company that it speaks about went bankrupt in 1987, there is nothing to advertise for. I added additional links at the bottom during my last edit because it stated I was using copyrighted material, so I included the links to show it is our property. Also, Noerr Motor Freight, and Noerr Incorporated, (a subsidiary of each other) was instrumental and vital for the establishment of the Noerr-Pennington doctrine which provided the transportation industry the ability to be where it is today. I feel that history of the company, how it was started, and how it ended may be useful to anyone researching said doctrine and to prevent a small piece of Mid-Atlantic state's history from being lost.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I agree that you are not using the username you have for advertising or otherwise violating our username policy. However, be reminded that your apparent relation with this company creates for you a conflict of interest. Hence, please be careful in following our neutral point of view policy, and remember that nobody owns articles or images here; anyone is free to edit or make any changes (within our appropriate guidelines and policies, of course).

Unblock discussion

I've read your unblock request and looked at the deleted versions of the articles you created, and I still have some concerns in which can use some explanation.

The articles you created were not deleted for perceived lack of notability or anything like that; they were deleted because they are still under copyright. We cannot, for legal reasons, accept copypasted text of content still under copyright from another source. Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia; that is, "free content", not "free beer". We only accept material licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License. Now you may donate the material to Wikipedia, releasing it from copyright, by following the instructions by following this link.

However, afterwards the material also needs cleanup and rewording so that it fits an encyclopedic tone. There also needs to be some something that can help show how this company was notable in a sense (i.e. coverage in academic papers, trade journals, magazines, newspapers, etc.). With all that said, I'll add that Wikipedia is not responsible for preserving companies' histories per se; rather, said preservation is a byproduct of the encyclopedic material written. MuZemike 19:07, 15 September 2009 (UTC) reply

- MuZemike : I am working on the academic papers, journals, and magazines - however the links are hard to come by as they are from the 70's + 80's. As for the copyright there is none - there was never any copyright on the images as they were merely promotional sent out to thousands of people in the 70s, what remains is the only surviving copy I have been able to find, and the initial images and hard copies of photos are non-existent. Please advise.

I am not an administrator, but I can maybe help a little while you wait for an answer from MuZemike. Depending on when they were taken, the photographs could still be under copyright. Unless the owner specifically releases their rights to the images, all photos are automatically protected, even promotional images that were given away. Before 1976, the term was 28 years, with a 28 year renewal possible, so they could still feasibly be under copyright, and without knowing if an extension was filed in the late 90's we can't be sure. After '76, the term changed to 75 years, or 50 years after the authors death. Hope this helped. Sodam Yat ( talk) 13:54, 16 September 2009 (UTC) reply
Another question. Who owns the images, then, if not you? I ask, because you would need to get permission from him to use the images here. If we don't know the copyright status, then we have to be on the safe side and make sure it's OK with the owner to do so. I hate to make it more confusing than it probably is, but here's what you need to do:
  1. Ask the owner of the images for permission to use the images.
  2. If the owner agrees, then direct him to send an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org with the following message:

I hereby affirm that I am [OR: OWNER'S NAME is ] the creator and/or sole owner of the exclusive copyright of WORK, [ EITHER included in this email OR located online at LINK ].

I agree to publish that work under the CC-BY-SA version 3.0 license.

I acknowledge that I grant anyone the right to use the work in a commercial product or otherwise, and to modify it according to their needs, provided that they abide by the terms of the license and any other applicable laws.

I am aware that I always retain copyright of my work, and retain the right to be attributed in accordance with the license chosen. Modifications others make to the work will not be attributed to me.

I acknowledge that I cannot withdraw this agreement, and that the content may or may not be kept permanently on a Wikimedia project.

OWNER'S NAME AND DETAILS (to allow future verification of authenticity)

DATE

Replace WORK with the names of the images to be used, OWNER'S NAME AND DETAILS with the owner's pertinent information (name, address, telephone number, email), and DATE with the date sent.

I hope that helps as far as the images are concerned. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. MuZemike 19:48, 16 September 2009 (UTC) reply
