Well, thanks for the star :) I don't contribute to DYK as often as used to do. When I'm not so busy, I'll try to nominate articles by others as I formerly did. I believe we should involve more prolific contributors into the process. Cheers, Ghirla -трёп- 11:31, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the plate of cookies you left on my talk page the other day! :) I'm not sure why, but I only just noticed them tonight. I can't say I've had the experience of having one of my doctors bake me anything, but at least I can now say that I've experienced it in a virtual sense!
By the way, when I was coming here to your page, I forgot the (The Scope) part and went to
User:Samir by mistake. The username has no contribution history and doesn't exist in the user creation log (or any log that I could see), but there was a message on the talk page from
User:Ghoshi. When I clicked onto Ghoshi's talk page, I realised that the post on Samir's talk page seems to be a response to a question you asked Ghoshi in July. Anyway, I'm going to move their comment here after this message, but I thought maybe
User:Samir should be blocked and maybe the pages redirected here since you sign as Samir and there's probably a reasonable chance that people might mistakenly go looking for you at
User:Samir. The account doesn't have an edit history and I'm really not sure if it actually exists, but I redirected the user and talk pages to your userspace until you have the chance to decide what to do. Cheers,

Sorry for multiple edits, but I have another question...In Australia, drugs like morphine and pethidine are kept locked in a separate DD (dangerous drugs) safe or special locked cupboard and when a nurse administers them, another nurse checks the dose and counter-signs the DD book. Is it true that in Canada, the nurses just keep morph/peth in the drug trolley with everything else, give it independently and that they don't have to counter-sign for each other when administering it? Sarah Ewart ( Talk) 18:24, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! Your information on all fronts was very helpful. I'm going to go ahead and remove UTIs from the template and I'll try to explain it to Qrc2006. Thanks Samir, Sarah Ewart ( Talk) 19:15, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi Samir
I got this from a source. This source is writing a book based on Binaca geetmala which will be published in November, and has asked me not to publish the lists on the internet anymore. Will you kindly take down the lists and wait till around November before posting them again. Many thanks-- Ghoshi 18:13, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm a little bit confused about your decision on The Freak Accident to deny A7 speedy deletion. I am not challenging your authority to make that call and respect your decision. I just don't understand it. It's my goal to master the speedy deletion method, so if you have anything else you could tell me about your decision that might help, please do so. could you please unblock me, Samir. I truly wish to cooperate to make this template the best it can be. I will not add Hepatitis C back in, allthough i believe the debate should continue and then it should either not be returned or just permanently kept off whatever the consensus is. But i wasnt able to add crabs, had to get someone else to help me. And now i belive the page is "protected", i have many suggestions for bettering it. see the talk page. Qrc2006 04:37, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
thank you very much, and yes i do agree that the information must be accurate.
Another user told me that you are a doctor. Let me ask you, can Hepatitis C be transmitted by anal-oral contact also known as Analingus and Rimming. If person A licks person Bs anus without a barrier, could they get Hepatitis C? Qrc2006 04:58, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
are you sure, well im glad to hear it, my mom allways gets mad at me when i mention ive rimmed someone, cuz i do it without a barrier as long as the person is right out of the shower, im vaccinated for A and B, and yeah i was always told the chance was so low to get C from it that it was safe. Do you know why the CDC wesbite says that stuff about risky sexual behavior and hep c with the links i provided to the CDC on the talk page.
Thanks for reverting the vandalism to my userpage, with the image being swapped for that .gif - I don't understand what his/her problem was (I've never encountered the username before), but I'm guessing a sockpuppet of a user who I have disagreed with in the past. And thanks for blocking both vandalism-only accounts indef. Thanks again! Daniel . Bryant 12:29, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Dear Sir
What do you suggest for {{ User Swastikan}}?
I included anti-CD3 approaches because Van Heel & West devote space to it in their very thorough review and clearly felt it was promising. That's why I referenced the list itself to their review, with specific points referenced to other sources. I cannot personally judge whether anti-CD3 induced immune tolerance is any less experimental than PEP/EPB2 enzyme therapy, of which even phase I trials still need wide dissemination! Hi Samir, and thanks for the heads up! I thought that it would be okay to close the no consensus ones, as that defaults to keep, but I'll stick to the Keep, merge, and redirect ones as per the link you gave me.
Just a quick question for my own clarification. You see, I started closing the discussion becuase I saw such a big backlog there, and I'm going up for Admin relativley soon, so I thought that it could only help. But wouldn't closing no consensus AfDs fall under WP:IAR? This isn't an attempt to still try and close no consensus AfD's, but as I say, I'm going up for Adminship soon, and worried if these closures may have an adverse affect on my RfA. Hi Samirjee, while I thank you and others for removing repeated vandalism from my user and talk pages, I do believe that all pages belong to Wikipedia Foundation and I do not own anything here, except the pride of being a true wikipedian. Rather I feel privileged to edit wikipedia: foolish or intelligent vandalism, including to my user and talk pages, are not going to deter me from my mission statement on my user page: "I am here with a mission: to contribute to realize the objectives of the dream of Jimbo Wales (the founder and the president of the Wikimedia Foundation) and his team." Once again for reverting vandalism to my user page. The misbehaving AOL vandal has been given an one hour long wikibreak. MER-C 14:16, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
You claimed that "it's being reported in all Canadian media as a 'shooting' not a 'shooting incident'." I then cited numerous examples of Canadian reports that describe this as a "shooting incident." (In other words, your statement was false.)
You then cited references to a "shooting." Well, of course there was a shooting, and of course this is being reported. I never denied that. The problem is that this term refers to the primary portion of the story (the gunman's rampage). In common usage, it does not refer to the suicide that followed. The ITN blurb doesn't present a full account of the events that occurred, so stating that the suspect died in the "shooting" implies that this was a shootout among multiple individuals.
I can't imagine why you object to the phrase "shooting incident," which generates approximately 500,000 Google hits (including dozens from Canadian sources pertaining to this exact story). — David Levy 22:21, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello; you seem like someone I can trust on this. I saw this comment on the talk page for Pope Benedict XVI Islam controversy and feel it ought to be removed because it is trolling. This user has been blocked for personal attacks previously, and I believe this would be a okay thing to do, but I do not want to be accused of removing something anti-Muslim just because I'm Muslim (perhaps I really do have an sub-conscious bias still). Anyway, your opinion on what to do with the matter would be appreciated. -- tariqabjotu 22:52, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

In response to your note on my talk page, User:Dhartung does not have my respect. I do very much consider it a kind of Wikipedia TROLLING when someone proposes an AfD for an article out of ignorance or bias. The true spirit of Wikipedia should be to contribute, not to destroy. A better Wikipedia person would have taken the time to enhance, improve, and update the article rather than irresponsibibly nominate it for deletion. An irresponsible AfD is NOT a way to gain the respect of other Wikipedia contributors. The way to gain the respect of others is to responsibly edit and improve Wikipedia articles, or simply suggest that others do so, which is something that Dhartung do not bother to do, or take the considerate time to do, before making an irresponsible AfD. Consequently he has my thumbs down. Janniejode 18:12, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi dear Admin,
This is to bring to your notice the wiki-feud I've been having with User:Mahawiki for almost one month now. It started with the Belgaum page which went to mediation, warnings were handed out to both parties, and when Mahawiki's incivil ways continued, Admin:Bluyugen handed him a warning and then a block. Find that [3].
I do not want to turn the clock back and go through all those content disputes again. Infact, I dont want to present to you the details of any content dispute we've had. All I want to present to you is the brazen incivility and personal attacks being committed by User:Mahawiki either in the course of his content disputes or even simply just out of spite.
All the diffs(exhibiting his incivility and personal attacks) I provide below are from AFTER, I REPEAT, "AFTER". ADMIN BLUGYUEN INTERVENED, WARNED ALL OF US, AND HANDED MAHAWIKI A BLOCK.
Please find below dozens of instances of blatant incivility and personal attacks by User:Mahawiki either on me or on User:Dineshkannambadi and all Kannadigas in general. His remarks are in extremely bad taste and counterproductive resulting in undermining of the good faith efforts of the other editors to carry on editing their articles.
While I dont want to go into each and every diff and explain it, just to give you a sample of his incivility, he has made edits where, even if only in jest or sarcasm, he makes atrocious claims like, I am on a kill Mahawiki mission, that User:Dineshkannambadi is the Kannada (Bin) Laden(sic). In another edit, even if only for jest(which I certainly dont find amusing nor appreciate esp., when it comes from him), he has threatened to sue me. He has called us cultural TERRORISTS, losers, notorious, shameless etc., etc. He uses the word vandalism like one would use 'Hi' and 'Hello'.
Find all the above and much much much more in the diffs I've provided below. Whats worse is his antics are going unchecked because Admin:Blugyen who knows about our feud is on a wikibreak and Admin:Sundar whose intervention I've sought more than once, is busy with other things(I presume, in real life) - which ofcourse, I dont hold against either of them.
But wikipedia will be a poorer place if brazen incivility like this goes unchecked for weeks simply because many admins dont know about it or the ones who know are by force of circumstances, too busy to deal with it.
I request immediate and harsh action on Mahawiki.
Once again, let me remind everyone that in the links below, none of them pertain to any content disputes. I belive in dealing with the content disputes on the relevant talk pages and dont usually bring it out on user talk pages.
Infact, I have even not listed below, the atrocious claim he made a couple of days ago that I had deleted and later undeleted an article. Also not listed below is his blatant removal of {{fact}} tags I had added in a couple of articles without even clarifying or providing a citation for the claim which I had tagged. Also not listed below may be umpteen other instances of incivility and npa violations on his part that I might have missed.
All the diffs below deal purely and only with his brazen incivil comments and personal attacks not just on me, but on User:Dineshkannambadi and also highly respected historians like Mr. Suryanath Kamath et al(who have been cited in some articles by Dinesh) whom he has trashed and dismissed in the most uncivil manner possible.
Apart from this he also makes disparaging remarks on Karnataka and Karnataka politicians who he keeps claiming are oppressing and torturing Marathi speaking people in Belgaum. This is not a content dispute, this is plain nonsense and insanely belligerent language.
His incivility apart, he has made it a habit and a routine to go around all over wikipedia branding me and Dinesh as 'Kannadi' vandals bent on Kannadizing all articles we touch. Ask him if we have included any uncited material or if we has ever cited any references for his numerous claims or whether he has taken it up on the article talk page instead of on a random user talk page. His answer will be negative. And yet, that doesnt stop him from going around shouting that we have been vandalising articles!!
Anway, I dont want to veer this towards the 'content disputes' which is a whole different matter altogether. Content disputes can always be discussed and agreements reached. Let me present to you just his brazen incivility and personal attacks.
Here we go -

Hello, Samir. I'm back with a question for you. I reported a user on 3RR yesterday. The result of the admin decision was a block for 12 hours. When the block expired, but still within the 24 hour window, the user completed another revert to make #5 in < 24. Since then they have made 2 additional reverts but some of the original reverts rolled off the 24 hour clock. The first of these made it 4 in 24 and the second made it 5 in 24 again. What do I do now? Do I edit the old case on WP:AN3 or do I make a new case and if so, how do I deal with some of the edits rolling off the end of the cycle? Thanks for helping on the Full-body scan. I fear I may have come off as beligerent at the beginning but it was never my intention to be combative. In fact, a kind of funny accident was my edit summary towards the start "feel free to read POV, but I'm removing it for now", was supposed to say readd, not read. Who'd have though one letter could make a comment vastly more condescending. Anyway, by your actions this is now one of the better articles on wikipedia, thanks. Hi Samir,
I wrote this article 'Three Ds of drinking' #REDIRECT 3Ds but it was deleted by you. I have discussed this with fellow people who drink and they said this was true. Can you pls correct it and update if you would like to. The article was as follows
The three Ds of Drinking namely Diet, Dilution and Duration are considered to be a informal thumbrule for drinking.
Diet It is always advisable to drink after you have had your meal. But if you want to get high quickly, you can drink without having a meal.
Duration Duration is the time for which one drinks. It is common sense that if you spread your drinking time for quite a while, you can enjoy it and also drink more.
Dilution Dilution goes hand in hand with Duration. If you want to drink more and also enjoy it, start with a mild (diluted) peg and then graduadly increase the concentration.
Thanks, Senthil
Hi,

But I can't find an answer anywhere. Since you apparently hold the power over it being deleted, or whatever the deal is, perhaps you can clue me in? Since you've reverted the article so that it includes Reena's ethnicity I expect that you'll provide a citation on why that's important to the case. Not only that you need to word it so that the crime doesn't come across as a hate crime, or that Ellard was a racist. Do this promptly or I will revert it again. hi samir, after reading one of your article and noticed that you're specialised in the digestive system, am taking this liberty to ask you a question which's bothering me for years, Is Oesophagitis curable? i have been diagnosed with that particular disease in 1982, and i have taking antacid since then, in the past i used to take some french medicines, Phosphalugel, Malox, but nowadays i take Gaviscon liquid, it does relieve symptoms but the heartburn and pain keeps coming back, prior to 1982 i used to enjoy eating chillies and hot & spicy food, something that i cannot do anymore, everytime i take the risk of eating hot food the pain gets worse. i look forward to read your answer on this issue faithfully yours. mustapha sw_londres@hotmail.com
Hi, Samir! You don't recognize me, but I was BaseballBaby in my past Wiki-life. I took the plunge and asked for a new username because of anonymity concerns. Could you, as an admin, delete and protect User:BaseballBaby and User:Baseball Baby? I created the latter account a couple of months after I registered the first to prevent impersonation – I remember seeing a suggestion somewhere to do so and it seemed prudent, so I did. If you need me to verify it by logging in as the latter, let me know and I will.
I love the BNL anecdote on your userpage! You just know Ed has used that in an ad lib somewhere, but at least you haven't been immortalized like the old lady wanting directions to the Bryant Street Theater. :-) I'm really, really bummed that they're not touring close enough to me this fall – I've seen them four times – but I have lots of buddies on barenaked.net who will send photos and phone love. (Yeah, I'm one of those BNL fans. :-D) I'm not digging BLAM, though – Rolling Stone called it "Dad rock," which had to hurt the guys, but I can't disagree too much with the label. Maybe the album will grow on me... I didn't like Automatic for the People either at first and now I love it, but I hope BNL's next album rocks instead of snoozes.
My husband and I were injured in an MVA a few weeks ago and both of us have been in outpatient PT (love cervical traction & massage – I wish I could keep doing it!), but I should be back regularly in another week or so. Thanks very much for your help! Krakatoa Katie 20:39, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Hey user, your out-of-place remark [42] is in poor taste and in bad faith. Do you know Malayalam and the meaning of the word to guess that it is obscene? Or did you rely on the opinion of two users who looked at once credit-worthy because they cried foul on somebody's user name? If that is the case, you are relying on somebody who in turn relies on ignorance ("I didn't know the other meanings for it"). I can let you know that the two users concerned have plainly refused to look up the word in a local language dictionary and never denied the fact that it is a proper name among the scheduled castes of Kerala. Ignorance, lack of receptiveness, élitism and disdain for the peripheral lives- you have been party to them. And one user who googled the word in question and found that it meant a very loose cunt in some Icelandic language epitomises the wisdom of your ilk. Kundan After Sundown 18:15, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

That clarifies it. You treated this user the same way. I saw no difference. I was not discussing the action of that user. I found you ( an admin ) no different from that user. My ponit was about the way you reacted. Just one more thing. This is a very personal opinion of an ordinary user (who , when offended, cannot threaten with blocks and bans, who has no buddies among admins to vouch for ): The damage that vandals and trolls can cause is limited to a few articles. Admins can destroy wikipedia by showing scant respect towards policies. Clt13 04:08, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey there... Do you really believe that the ulcers symptomatic of UC are not benifited from Vitamin U (methylmethioninesulfonium chloride, MMSC)?
Studies show that Vitamin U helps to prevents and can revert ulcer damage in gastric tissues.
The cause of UC may be debated (is it autoimmune, etc); but the symptoms can be significantly lessened by MMSC.
Please double check these links, or search a bit more on PubMed about MMSC and UC:

Hi Samir,
I’m sending this message out to about 4-5 people I’ve worked with here on Wikipedia. Its not a blind carbon copy to 1000 people. Sorry its only partially wiki-related...
Basically as you probably know I make a lot of diagrams for use on Wikipedia in my spare time while studying a Biochemistry BSc (hons) degree at the University of Sussex in the UK. Next year (in my final year) I’m planning on starting up a medical graphics company. Its been suggested to me more than once that some of my diagrams are as good as, if not better than those presently in research papers and text books, so it seems like a good logical progression (and more so something I enjoy!) to start up a company producing them.
But without a reputation, and as a nameless student work will be stagnant or non-existent. So I’m desperately trying to make a small name for myself and to build a credible reputation as both a scientist and artist. So to cut to the chase what I’m messaging people about is just to say please please please, if you or any of your colleagues are publishing research articles/text books etc. and need bespoke diagrams please get them in touch, I would be forever grateful! I’m very very happy to do the jobs for free as I enjoy them anyway and the exposure would help me no end! They have nothing to lose, if they don’t like what I produce its not like they paid for it, and are under no obligation to use it. I can’t stress how helpful a diagram in a published work would be for me. I do have a portfolio of generally better work than the pics here on Wikipedia, but examples to show colleagues are those such as:
Anyway, as always if you need any diagrams done here on Wikipedia, I’m an email away! If you do by any chance know of anyone seeking a scientist/artist then please be sure to get them onto me! (My email is nick-daines<at>hotmail.com). Thanks!

I believe the decision to delete this article was made in error, so I have asked for a deletion review. Since you were involved in the AfD on this, I wanted to inform you so that you might weigh in. PT ( s-s-s-s) 17:31, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I was wondering if you could elaborate on you decision to delete this article. While I agree this concept is not the most significant. However I have been studying the concept of consensus as it is understood both within WP and in other contexts. It would seem to me that consensus has not been reached if dissenting points of view have not been adequately addressed. Based on the deletion policies here, unless the article violates one of the big three then the arguments to keep an article have far greater weight than those for delete. I do not feel that there was consensus in this AfD, the keep arguments were not adequately addressed by those who wished to delete the article. Thank you for your response. Thanks for the welcome and tips. A question: the difficulty in creating references for medical articles, or any other article, is very important. Hi Samir - Thanks for your comments about the timeline. You did make the critical error of admitting you know something about this stuff. :) I'm writing a more detailed history of PUD and H. pylori for my dissertation, which I hope to add here once it's finished. I had a question, which perhaps you can answer. (I asked the Reference Desk, but didn't get a great answer.) Palmer's study in 1954 didn't find H. pylori in the stomach because he failed to use the silver staining technique (or so I'm told). I would like to know two things. (1) Why exactly does H. pylori only show up clearly using this technique? (At the RD I got the generic "somethings take up different stains" answer, which I understand.) (2) Would not using this technique represent a serious error by Palmer? (I.e. Were there lots of bacteria which only showed up using this technique that were known about in the 50s? Did everyone use this technique when doing histological studies in the 50s? etc.) No problem if you don't have time to give me a detailed answer, we're all busy. Sorry for multiple edits, but I have another question...In Australia, drugs like morphine and pethidine are kept locked in a separate DD (dangerous drugs) safe or special locked cupboard and when a nurse administers them, another nurse checks the dose and counter-signs the DD book. Is it true that in Canada, the nurses just keep morph/peth in the drug trolley with everything else, give it independently and that they don't have to counter-sign for each other when administering it? thank you very much, and yes i do agree that the information must be accurate.
Hi Samir, no problem. You have done a good job with it.-- Dakota 14:30, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Rather I feel privileged to edit wikipedia: foolish or intelligent vandalism, including to my user and talk pages, are not going to deter me from my mission statement on my user page: "I am here with a mission: to contribute to realize the objectives of the dream of Jimbo Wales (the founder and the president of the Wikimedia Foundation) and his team." Regards. -- Bhadani 14:59, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

This is my first barnstar ever, so it is even more appreciated. Of course my real goal is to improve WP and not collect accolades, but they are nonetheless appreciated. Once again for reverting vandalism to my user page.

Oh yeah. It was great. My frosh week was awesome and it really helped me to meet people and get to know the campus. The only problem that I have is that Mr. Kingwell ruined Philosophy for me. I loved the course in high school, but now I despise it, and I'm thinking of switching. Don't get me wrong. He is a great lecturer, but the course material is just not for me —we're now studying Republic by Plato. Orane ( talk • cont.) 15:55, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Samir,
I wrote this article 'Three Ds of drinking' #REDIRECT 3Ds but it was deleted by you.
Hi,
Just wondering why on earth is it not possible to have an article on Encyclopedia Dramatica? I've discovered Encyclopedia Dramatica and Wikipedia recently, and think they are both great! But I can't find an answer anywhere. Since you apparently hold the power over it being deleted, or whatever the deal is, perhaps you can clue me in? Encyclopedia Dramatica is a pretty weird site, and looked here on Wikipedia to get some genral information on it (like I do for just about everything), but its blocked? Why? I don't understand
What shall we propose for DYK from my newest article? - CrazyRussian talk/ email 04:44, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Quoted: "Role of sulphydryl-containing agents in the management of recurrent attacks of ulcerative colitis. A new approach."
Quote: "This double-blind randomised study investigated the role of sulphydryl-containing agents in the management of recurrent attacks of ulcerative colitis. ... These results demonstrate that sulphydryl-containing agents play a key role in the treatment of and protection against ulcerative colitis."

Hi Samir,
I’m sending this message out to about 4-5 people I’ve worked with here on Wikipedia.

Although the ability to create PubMed URLs using Wikipedia:Citing_sources/example_style#Medical_journal_abstracts helps, Wikipedia:Footnotes is very tedious. Are there plans for improvements such as described in Wikipedia:Footnote2? - Thanks Badgettrg 03:52, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

I wonder if you could elaborate on your reasoning for closing the above AFD as delete. Whilst I understand it is not a vote per se, I count 10 deletes and 10 keeps, plus the article meets the standard for sportspeople at WP:BIO, which makes a good case for there being no consensus.
