Hi Riana. Good to have you back. I've a need for advice/comment from an experienced editor. :) Earlier in the day, User:Mathewgarth was adding one particular link to a wide range of articles relating to Gospel music, Southern music, Country music, etc. as can be seen from his contribs. Some of the edits were reverted by other users, while I reverted other edits (as the respective pages were on my watchlist). A little while ago, an unknown IP (70.115.253.243, to be specific) started adding the same link/content to some of the same articles as can be seen from his contribs. That's when I did a check of the IP's contribs and Mathewgarth's contribs and reverted almost all of the edits as I felt that they were linkspamming/advertising for a particular organisation. In this case, what could I do to stop this spamming? Honestly, I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. Any ideas/comments/suggestions are totally welcome. aJCfreak yAk 14:50, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

You just deleted Dynamic textures. If this was a WP:BLP or WP:COPYVIO that must be deleted, you would have said so, but other than that you don't leave a reason. Assuming the topic was really unencyclopedic, then why did you leave three links to the article? Since you left these three invitations to recreate the article, why didn't you leave a stub? I don't particularly care about this article. I am disambiguating texture, and this link changed since last night. I may have read it last night, but I don't recall. I guess it had to do with texture mapping. — Randall Bart (talk) 19:37, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up for WikiProject Alternative music. If you wish to stop receiving this newsletter, or would like to receive it in a different form, add your name to the appropriate section here. This newsletter was delivered by the automated R Delivery Bot 21:35, 2 August 2007 (UTC) . I'd like to ask you to unprotect Transnistria. I'm sure you acted in good faith, but the user Míkka only used the protection to enfore his own view. Before the protection, he was the only user reverting to the current protected version and would have violated 3RR. If the protection would be used to discuss the matter on the talkpage, then fine, but all he does is to write that those who disagree with him are so stupid that he's not talking to them. While many arguments have been presented for the view that Transnistria isn't a state, not a single one has been presented in support of the currect, protected version. Protecting a page should be a way to calm down edit wars and to discuss matters, not a way for a single user to avoid violating 3RR while still keeping his version on-line and then refusing to discuss. JdeJ 10:58, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Riana, I'm writing to you for help. An article I wrote - Rick Boyce - was deleted (prod). I don't check my articles very often so the five day period expired before I had a chance to comment. The administrator who nominated it for deletion is on what he calls a "long vacation" and I would like not to wait for him to return to address him directly. Here are his comments: "14:11, 20 July 2007 Maxim (Talk | contribs) deleted "Rick Boyce" (Expired prod, concern was: Almost no Google hits for the subject. Probably not notable enough.)" First, I would like my article back. I don't have a saved copy and it took a fair amount of time to research and write it. Second, the reasons for deletion don't seem sound to me. "Almost no Google hits" "Probably not notable enough." References to Rick Boyce appear throughout the web as a Google search shows. He is also cited by several wikipedia articles. Further, his work is also described in a book, which my article cited, a history of web commercialization published by John Wiley & Sons. Wiley is a 100 year old book publisher that has been one of the primary publishers of books about the Internet and web commerce. Rick Boyce was one of the essential pioneers who helped make the web what is it today. He is responsible for making the banner ad a viable advertising vehicle. This is not debatable, no one disputes it, and the fact is cited in numerous places. The reasons this article was proposed for deletion strike me as silly. I am, among other things, a historian of the early days of web commercialization. I am a contributor of the World Wide Web History Center which is supported by Stanford University and the Computer History Museum. Rick Boyce is an important person in the history of the web and *almost* no Google hits is not a relevant criteria for deletion. Neither is Maxim's assessment that he is *probably* not notable enough. Thanks for your help. - Nolatime

Thanks for blocking this IP. The article's original creator User:James Scott Francis (who I'm sure is the same person as the IP) is carrying on the same edit war and re-introducing the same copyvios [7]. I'm looking in quickly from work and don't have time to file a formal checkuser request, but is it actually necessary in this case, especially since he signs his posts in the same way? Best regards Iain99 11:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Regarding notice on Category:Rescaled fairuse images more than 7 days oldI see you put a note, which included a suggested resolution of 500px. I think that may be unfortunate, because all attempts I have so far seen to define what is acceptable, are insufficient to cover all cases. The most sensible rules-of-thumb I have so far seen (on {{ Non-free_use_rationale}}) is that raster images should be approximately 0.1 megapixels (give or take) and/or (as the proportions of the image may warrant) approximately 300px on the longest side. There is also the matter of generally not using a (much) larger image than is necessary for use in the article (like for many fixed size infoboxes). Maybe a note on using best judgment/good sense would also help. Would you mind if I added these kinds of clarifications? -- Pekaje 12:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Eyrian has a fairly strong view on "x in Pop culture" articles which he's written here and scan down here for some responses. There has also been a fairly systematic nomination of a great many articles that have fallen into this category, with some heated discussion. I got involved over Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lions_in_popular_culture, now it is Cultural_depictions_of_lions - see the talk pages and history for some background. Then there is/was Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Popular_dinosaurs which resulted in this article being kept. I was unhappy that the most notable dino (T rex) was deleted (the T rex in pop cult article was yet another on a long and growing list of to-do things), so I requested a review here, though this looks becoming more heated as we go along.... I'll be interested to see what you as an impartial observer make of all this (if you're interested). Ultimately I concede alot of the "x in Pop culture" articles were on the silly side maybe but surely Lions and T rex are pretty iconic and that cleanup tags rather than AfD is a way of dealing with article quality (?), or maybe I'm just a hopeless trivia buff.cheers, Casliber ( talk · contribs) 09:27, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I find the action taken hard to motivate and look forward to your comments on the talk page. JdeJ 22:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

File:Dainsyng.gif Riana, I askd you, why don't you take back your actions. You revertd my comments that were not personal attacks, and you expect that you didn't break any rules; whereas, I am expected to leave delusional libel against my edits on my anon's talkpages and get reverted over continually. Ye reverted a talk page so that it keeps tens of screens of absolute drivel, spam, liges, brainwash, disinfo, trash that is openly against the talkpage's description; ye conspird to ban my addresses because I hate how these sick users are allowed to push their disinfo, after I clearly wrote my explanations against in my edit summaries, that the wrong-as-hell teen-without-a-clue was allowed to revert continually without any check or punishment? -lysdexia

What is a fact? If UN does not recognize Transnistria as a state isn't it POV to say it's a state? -- ŞtefanIaşi 18:24, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

- Nolatime

Hi :) I have a slight problem; Dolly the Sheep is the wrong title for the subject, Dolly (sheep) is, however, some IP made Dolly (sheep) redirect to Dolly the Sheep a while ago, and whilst trying to move the page to the correct title, it won't let me move it, because Dolly (sheep) exists. Would you mind, deleting Dolly (sheep) (CSD housekeeping, or something?) and so then I can move the article in its place. While going through my watchlist, I noticed that Image:Ilya.JPG and Image:Rogershuxley.jpg still had what looks like high-resolution versions in the file history. Probably some glitch during deletion. Since they were already listed and handled once, I suppose you can just delete the revisions directly, without me adding them to the somewhat large backlog at Category:Rescaled fairuse images (or, rather, Category:Rescaled fairuse images more than 7 days old) :-) -- Pekaje 16:28, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I am not aware of the situation going on between these two users, but User:Calton posted on his talk page emails from User:StraferOfTruths complete with email address. Within moments he removed this post from his talk page saying "On second thought, I'll save this for later". Regardless of the situation between these two, an editor like Calton should know better than to post someone's email address on his own talk page. If I am not mistaken, this is violation of WP:HAR, per "Posting of personal information", ie: "email address". I am not sure how you procede with something like this, but a very good friend of mine, User:TREYWiki, was blocked when he posted personal information of someone. Thought you should know... Take care -- 69.89.20.59 05:10, 13 August 2007 (UTC) Riana - Just thought I'd fill you in on some background.
