After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. Re RFC:Australians - I recommend that you link to the diff of your edit(s), rather than the revert, so it's clear what changes you made, rather than what someone else did (unless you are explicitly asking for comment on the other person's edit).
