Replaceable fair use Image:HAMISH.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:HAMISH.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{ di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rette tast 11:05, 27 July 2007 (UTC) reply

Frustating news

Hi there. It's been a while since we don't talk. I came looking for you since this guy has been removing every image he seems to find alleging damn fair use rationale (also The Vines' one and the one you uploaded on Tim). I told the damn guy if he deleted one of my ogg samples on Keane again, I'd go and upload it to the Nahuatl Wikipedia so it could live peacefully there. If you want to help me uploading the images again you're welcome. The more the powerful we are.-- Fluence 03:28, 4 August 2007 (UTC) reply

Just a warning, these images/.oggs were violating our fair use policy, which is a legal policy we have to avoid users like you being sued for copyright infringement (the Wikimedia Foundation is protected). Intentionally violating policies will result in being blocked, and doing so on different wikipedias will result in the same thing. SWATJester Denny Crane. 14:19, 5 August 2007 (UTC) reply
You cannot tell me what to do. I don't know about Somewhere Only We Know and We Might as Well Be Strangers, but On a Day Like Today runs on a very different story. The cover images FU is so stupid I almost go mad myself. You can't sue me either. I'm too far from the wikimedia Foundation and I'm at least two at different states every day to get catch by our brilliant PGR. This IP doesn't even belong to me. I won't uploading them again coz I've got too much to do at nah so fair well.
I'd like you Jade to talk in another language. It'd be easier to avoid these people. And time makes everything alright so, for now, let's keep this off :)-- Fluence 23:39, 5 August 2007 (UTC) reply

I did not state that I would sue you. Please read again. I said that if the copyright holder (which would be keane or their record label) wished to assert their ownership, it would be you that would be sued, not wikimedia. Please review our fair use policies and copyright restrictions before continuing to upload files. SWATJester Denny Crane. 02:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC) reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thevines_ride.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Thevines_ride.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the " my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MER-C 12:32, 18 August 2007 (UTC) reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ca me vexe.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ca me vexe.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 12:46, 26 October 2007 (UTC) reply
