Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. I see that you've been editing a page called Harry Brünjes. Are you the same Harry Brünjes? If so, it is generally considered a conflict of interests to edit an article on oneself. This would also apply to any family members and relatives. If somebody is notable, someone else will surely write about them on WP. Thank you.

On another note, I see you have recently done a lot of work on Folkington Manor. Would you be opposed to me nominating it for DYK on the main page? As the creator of the article, I think it would be nice if both your and my work was seen by as many people as possible :) Malick78 ( talk) 13:04, 26 August 2010 (UTC) reply

Hi, Im not sure if Im meant to respond here? is it? Im not Dr. Brunjes, but have been updating on his behalf. I dont consider it a personal conflict, purely factual in this case. What's a DYK? Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with this. Dr. Brunjes is soon to begin a restoration project on Folkington Manor, hence the historical interest.

  • Hi, you can respond here or on my talk page. I'm a bit concerned by what you wrote above. What does "updating on his behalf" mean? How do you know him? What may seem factual to you may appear different to others, so as much transparency as possible would be appreciated.
  • As for the DYK, this is the Did you know? section that appears on the main page. I'll try to nominate the article, since it's been expanded 5 times (one of the criteria), though it may not be accepted do to much of the new info being from your personal knowledge rather than from reliable 3rd party sources. We'll see what people think... THanks, Malick78 ( talk) 13:24, 27 August 2010 (UTC) reply

Hi again, I am a secretary of Dr. Brunjes. in response to the first question, I've updated the professional news of Dr. Brunjes position at Capita, there are plenty of sources for this, I will do better to cite them. Capita are FTSE 100 firm, this is notable public information.

the DYK page, of course, happy to help in any way, and do my best to make the all the entries as official as possible. In terms of all knowledge, none of it is personal knowledge, its all been sourced after researching, I will do my best to double check the references.

Autobiography

Malick78 has already kind of pointed this out, but please read out poilcy on autobiographies. You are strongly encouraged to not write autobiographical articles on wikipedia. You've also been noted at the conflict of interest noticeboard, you can see the discussion here and are encouraged to comment. Smartse ( talk) 13:13, 28 August 2010 (UTC) reply

I've read all the points you've directed me to. I am just starting out on wiki, how can you help me to make this legitimate then? There are plenty of public sources to cite harry brunjes as a public figure, and all that i have mentioned I have tried to be neutral and accurate.

  • You may have tried to be accurate, but you're point of view taints your choices. For example, if there was something negative about him (and I'm not suggesting there is), as his secretary, you would be under pressure not to mention it. For this reason, it would be best to add anything you want to add to the articles' talk page, and let other editors without any ties add the information. Does that seem reasonable?

ok, thanks for your help, - so i just add the whole page to the talk page and see if it is accepted?

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
