Hamari Bahu Silk moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Hamari Bahu Silk, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. ( ?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed ( verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. SSSB ( talk) 13:02, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, it seems that you sourced as I was moving the article, I'll wait until the redirect at the old page gets removed and then I'll move it back to you. In the mean time you can continue to edit the draft. SSSB ( talk) 13:05, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Goodd-002, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Detective Didi: have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. You copied the plot summary directly from IMDB. That's extremely lazy, taking someone else's work and calling it your own and it's also against Wikipedia policy as it's a copyright violation. Don't ever do that again. Thank you. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Bepanah Pyaarr into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{ copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers ( talk) 19:46, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

If the page is at the wrong title, the correct approach is to MOVE the page, not copy and paste the page, thus stealing credit for the work done by others. Given the current state, you need to start a move discussion on the page itself, not actually do the move yourself as it may be contested. The Requested Move page gives you directions on how to do that. Again, don't move it yourself OR keep working on the page you created by copy-past. Work on the original page. Re: this edit, please do not use random websites/blogs/portals/content scrapers as references. See our guidelines on reliable sources. See also WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources for an incomplete, general list of sites considered reliable and not, in the context of Indian entertainment. Biographies of living people have to be impeccably sourced. Just because something is printed on the internet doesn't mean that it is correct. For all you know, the blog you cited got its information from an old version of the Pearl V Puri article. If you don't know anything about a website, don't use it. Note also that in your edit you replaced a very obvious embedded note that instructed users such as yourself about this. It reads: "Birthdate must be attributed to a reliable published source with an established reputation for fact-checking. No blogs. No IMDb. No public records. A tag has been placed on File:Sunila Karambelkar.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Begoon 22:51, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 24

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hamari Bahu Silk, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rajesh Kumar ( check to confirm |  fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Competence is required when issuing warnings

  • In this diff you warn a user, and your edit summary is "Warning: Removal of content, blanking on Draft:Mallika Singh"
  • First of all, this is a draft, not an article, and at that point this was the only user who had edited it. It's safe to assume that, as a draft, the user was adding and removing content in an effort to make the article acceptable.
  • Secondly, in your actual message, you say "You can't create user like biography of tv actor it's not allowed on Wikipedia" - this was a draft article and actor bios are perfectly acceptable and common.

Now, I'm guessing what you were referring to was the fact that the user had also put similar content on a user page - and you quite correctly nominated that other page for deletion.

What you need to do is think and be clear. The user was obviously confused about where to put the content, and thus had a user page and a draft with similar content.

Because you said "You can't create user like biography of tv actor it's not allowed on Wikipedia" in a message about the draft what you are likely to do is just confuse the user even more.

You're not the police - we are here to help each other. If you can't make your point clearly, in understandable English, without adding to any confusion then it would be better to say nothing. You seem to still be in the process of learning yourself - do you think it is a good idea for someone who has not finished learning themselves to be slapping scary looking, incorrectly worded messages on the pages of others who are still learning, telling them they are being "disruptive" and threatening blocks?

It's good that you went on to improve the draft, but have you noticed anything about the possible consequences of your badly considered warning? Here's a clue - when did that user last edit? We want to encourage contributors, not scare them away or have them leave in frustration. Now, it may be that they would not have edited again anyway, there had been a gap of a week - but it's impossible to know. Of course this raises another question - why were you warning them for an edit made over a week ago, and were you even aware of the timings? I'm guessing you didn't check.

Please be more careful in future, and perhaps refrain entirely from telling others how they should edit until you have more competence yourself. Thank you. -- Begoon 10:48, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
